YOUNG LIONS MUSIC CLUB ANNOUNCES 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY - THE PARTY ft LCD SOUNDSYSTEM’S PAT MAHONEY A TIFF PARTY THEMED & INSPIRED BY THE FILM

Just as the city prepares to enter into its annual film-fest frenzy, there’s one immersive, intergalactic event that stands galaxies apart from the rest.
On Friday, September 12th, Toronto-based music marketing agency Young Lions Music Club will turn Toronto’s premiere event venue into an interactive music & art party themed after Stanley Kubrick’s 1968 sci-fi opus 2001: A Space Odyssey.
It’s a one-night-only affair, with the spaced out soundtrack coming via Pat Mahoney, drummer from NYC’s dance-punk icons LCD Soundsystem. Joining him on the bill are Toronto new disco DJs Membersonly as well as a live, themed performance by upstart dream-pop band Paradise Animals.
In addition to musical elements, 2001: A Space Odyssey, the classic sci-fi film by Stanley Kubrick, will be brought to life in party form, featuring actors, performers, and interactive art installations by TIFF’s go-to theme activation agency Young Offenders Collective.
Apart from their work with TIFF, they’ve done recent work for Red Bull, Mill Street Brewery, Toyota Scion, and other high-profile clients despite only officially launching at the beginning of 2014. The event is in celebration of TIFF’s upcoming fall/winter Stanley Kubrick exhibition, opening October 31, 2014.

For a limited time, people can buy a $25 ticket package via Ticketfly.com which includes a ticket to both 2001: A Space Odyssey - The Party and the Kubrick Exhibition. 2001: A Space Odyssey is the third in Young Lions Music Club’s annual series of parties themed after the famous director’s films. Last year’s A Clockwork Orange, and 2012’s The Shining, were considered by many media and fans as the highlight of the TIFF party scene in their respective years.

2001: A Space Odyssey - The Party September 12, 2014 - 99 Sudbury Street, Toronto $15 (or $25 when packaged with TIFF’s Kubrick exhibition ticket) available at Ticketfly.com
