Meet Dylan Starrs

Dylan was born and raised in Dallas, TX. After his formative years of learning, playing, and writing with late Dallas musician Carter Albrecht (Edie Brickell, Charlie Sexton, Salim Nourallah) he became something of a migrant troubadour. He has been crafting, honing, and living through his songs for the past eight years. Having travelled and performed throughout San Diego, New York, Chicago, Dublin, Denver and Austin, Dylan now calls Los Angeles home.

His songs and his voice reflect the ups, downs, lefts, rights, spoils, and toils of his travelling. The music is ingrained with a distinct and modern take on Folk music heavily influenced by his namesake, Bob Dylan and other great Troubadours past and present (Tom Waits, Cat Stevens, Van Morrison, Richie Havens, Townes Van Zandt, Jeff Tweedy, Glen Hansard, Ray LaMontagne). His sound may be modern, but it harks the folk tradition in its lyrical poignancy.

In 2011 he was recognized for his songwriting by the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) as a finalist for the Robert Allen Songwriting award, and his music has been featured on the Golf Channel and CBS Radio LA.

Dylan is currently playing regularly around the LA area (The Troubadour, Room 5, House of Blues, Witzend, The Mint, el cid) either solo or with some of the city's best musicians. He is finishing up his debut solo full length album with producer Max Allyn, tentatively titled "From the Swill to the Swell." The album is a Double EP and a throwback to the days when records were meant to be listened front to back, side to side, and over and over.

Dylan will play a residency at Witzend http://www.witzendlive.com/ in Los Angeles every Thursday night at 10pm in January 2014
