Ty Segall & White Fence share first single from new collab LP, Hair

Whether you're walking, rolling and tumbling, flying, driving your car, or sitting still and meditating, wherever you go, Hair you are. You don't always see the wild mystery that comes with everyday life on this rock, but your connection to the Eternal is always present. You just can't see it. Today, you're in luck - up to your frontal eye-lobes in luck. Ty Segall & White Fence have thrown their X-ray vision upon you and see the blood rocking through your veins and all the blood vessels in your brain. They can see them...
Hair it is - to stuff the cracks in your mental chrome dome. Hair for you to stare for awhile. Hair grows like grass beneath your feet, opens up your mind and reflects you in the fun house mirror - spreading past your borderlines, bouncing like rubber, growing and grooving towards the sky (with diamonds). Was it yesterday or yesteryear or is it happening now, on five-second synaptic delay? You were tall, you were high...you went farther than you've ever been.
Chanting to and from the dome is your living soundtrack and providing the Hairdressing for your psychic salad are Ty Segall and White Fence sitter Tim Presley with Sean Presley and Mikael Cronin along on the carpet ride. It unrolls from within them and in between them, and electricity takes many forms, from poppy lunges to acoustic strolls to freak-downs at end of the side. Hair gets tangled deep in clouds of guitars and drums and counter-riffs and percussion, then pressed flat with harmony vocals and compression. Whatever got them through the night, it launches the ship into the stratosphere. And Hair you are again.

New LOST IN THE TREES Album Out Today

The powerful new album by the North Carolina musical collective LOST IN THE TREES is called A Church That Fits Our Needs. The record arrives in stores today already accompanied by a well deserved and mounting buzz of critical acclaim. After a must see performance at All Tomorrow’s Parties UK at the invitation of Neutral Milk Hotel’s Jeff Mangum, the group appeared last week at the South By Southwest Festival in Austin where their moving and transcendent performances earned them a spot on Time Magazine’s SXSW 2012 “Best In Class” list as well as a feature story in today’s Wall Street Journal http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052702304724404577291492484408140.html?KEYWORDS=lost+in+the+trees .

A Church That Fits Our Needs is the anticipated follow up to the band’s breakthrough Anti Records debut All Alone In An Empty House which NPR Music called their “surprise album of the year.” The new record is an immensely ambitious work inspired by loss and transformation. In the summer of 2009, the group’s writer, composer and singer, Ari Picker, lost his artist mother when she took her own life. Picker has transformed the event into an evocative and moving musical tribute. Far from being a somber affair, the classically trained composer has utilized rhythm as its own emotional language, never losing the propulsive vitality of great rock and roll.

THE REAL McKENZIES On Tour In Canada !!

THE REAL McKENZIES are not just a band. They are an unstoppable touring machine. A road-hardened crew of traveling minstrels, entertainers and vagabonds on a never-ending quest for good times. For the past 20 years, this ferocious gang of miscreants has been captivating audiences around the globe with their addictive, uncompromising and undeniably heartfelt music. Featuring a diverse and insanely talented roster of musicians, The Real McKenzies draw on both acoustic and electric instruments to blend a potent concoction of classic punk, rock n' roll, hard folk and traditional Celtic influence. Anthemic guitars and soaring bagpipes play off each other as Paul McKenzie spins yarns of times long past and regales with tales of endless drunken revelries. Blistering punk rock boot stompers stand alongside passionate sing-along ballads while good times and joyous camaraderie are all the order of the day.
Fueled by an insatiable need to share the McKenzies’ gospel with the world, the boys are equally at home playing to 20,000 screaming football fans in the heart of Germany as they are to a few hundred punks in the dirtiest, darkest, most disreputable clubs of the Canadian wilderness. After more than two decades, 8 full-length albums, countless compilation appearances and singles, The Real McKenzies have earned a reputation that is second to none. They’ve shared the stage with Rancid, NOFX, Flogging Molly, The Misfits, Pennywise, Shane McGowan and Metallica just to name a few, all the while garnering new friends and fans along the way.
And now they’re back with their first studio album in 4 years. Westwinds is packed to the brim with roaring, rollicking and epic tales that shanghai the listener on a thirteen song, sea-tossed journey through the wild and wonderful world of The Real McKenzies. Recorded over several months at Crabapple Downs by the phenomenal Steve Loree, Westwinds is a sonic shot across the bow, a record that demands your attention. From the unapologetic raised middle figure salute of “Fool’s Road” to the hook-laden tongue-in-cheek “My Luck Is So Bad” to one of the most poignant and blood-pumping renditions of “Barrett’s Privateers (Stan Rogers)” that you’ll ever hear, this killer album is set to become an instant classic in the collections of both new and diehard fans alike. Much like a fine single malt scotch, The Real McKenzies only get better with age.

Catch them live and buy them (and yourself ) a whiskey !

Black Bananas announces tour dates w/ Kurt Vile, Magik Markers

After three albums under the name RTX, Jennifer Herrema and her bunch decided to flip the script, to kick open the doors of perception a little bit . See, RTX was not Royal Trux, not a metal band, not a 70's bar band and not a toxic substance; RTX was something, all of those things and none of them and way more, including Black Bananas bubbling in a witchy cauldron of their own herbaceousbrew. The title of a song on their RaTX album detailed a bit of the recipe, taking elements often tossed aside or thrown all the way out and combining them into something new and worthwhile...a new strain of the almighty green - to feed and elevate the hungry ones.
Black Bananas is set for the next all-inclusive rock and roll crusade, the one that includes even and especially all the shit you don't like, woven into all the shit you can't live without. This has been the name of Jennifer's game from day one; she owns the blueprints and if you don't know by now, don't even bother to Google it, cuz understanding is an investment not an action. Jennifer Herrema is not schizophrenic nor does she don many hats. She is simply a singer and simultaneously, a pioneer of comprehensive non-exclusive opposition rock, and Black Bananas is the latest addition to the oeuvre.
Brian Mckinley, Kurt Midness, Jaimo Welch, and Nadav Eisenman have been ripping and running with Jennifer since 2002, when one by one, they gathered serendipitously, borne by curiosity and the courage to be part of something new. Each passing RTX record saw them wrapped ever tighter in the burgeoning tongue of their own creation. Now, uttering their twisted slang fluently as a unified dialect, they emerge as Black Bananas.
If you wanna hedge (-fund) your bets its best to get out in front of this new national currency they are creating with Black Bananas. These are the notes of the future; with Jennifer at the helm their worth will grow exponentially. Invest!
Black Bananas first album Rad Times Xpress IV runs the gamut from gnarly odes to reality TV in songs like "My House" to future electric metallic GoGo sounds all conceived with scraps of influence from Jennifer's childhood passions zig-zagged with other currents out there, creating a sound that will take you to a specific place that only Black Bananas know how to find.

Most of all, Black Bananas is the new band in town - and they're fucking righteous.

Gregory Rogove's album, Piana, is a collection of simple, melancholic yet beautiful instrumental pieces for piano that were composed by Rogove and inspired by the French Impressionist piano music of Erik Satie and Claude Debussy. The songs were written in Mexico and recorded at Woodstock; John Medeski performs on the album as well. The release includes a bonus DVD which is like a virtual "gallery" - you can click on images hanging on the wall of the virtual gallery and view or listen to remixes of the solo piano compositions as interpreted by both musicians -- Devendra Banhart, Violens, Lucky Dragons, The Bees, BIlly Martin of Medeski Martin & Wood -- and visual artists -- photography by Lauren Dukoff, a collage by Fabrizio Moretti of the Strokes and videos by Steve and George Gorrow and Greg and Diana Garcia.

Starvin' Hungry At The Bovine Friday March 23, 2012 !!

Starvin' Hungry was a band that existed in various forms from 1995 to 2009 with founding member guitarist/singer John Milchem as it's only constant member. It's first incarnation was in Toronto from '95 to 2000, when the lineup mainly varied from Milchem solo to a duo version with his twin brother Glenn (Blue Rodeo) on drums. This lineup made a few barely released recordings,(see band camp link below!)and never played outside Toronto. This CMW showcase is a reunion of the twins version of the band for those who had the pleasure and those who don't wanna' miss out.

Starvin' Hungry will be playing one night only as part of CMW: (Biblical 11 pm; Starvin Hungry 12 am; Flash Lightning 1 am; Ian Blurton's Happy Endings 2 am.) to celebrate the belated release of their 90's recordings on band camp as a FREE download!
