POUZZA FEST, one of the year’s most exciting events for lovers of punk rock music, will be held in the heart of Montreal on May 18, 19 and 20. Pouzza Fest is a gathering of more than 170 bands performing at six different venues located within a few blocks of each other, making it easy for the festival-goers to enjoy it all and miss nothing.

Following the success of the first Pouzza Fest that featured bands like Lifetime, Bad Astronaut and Zero Boys, just to name a few, the organizers are back with an exciting program that includes such bands as Lagwagon, Less Than Jake, Naked Raygun, Voodoo Glow Skulls,

Poison Idea, Bouncing Souls, Suicide Machine and Hot Water Music.

And now, Pouzza Fest will be more than music. This year’s event will feature two movies (Pouzza Popcorn) like the documentary “The Other F Word” that deals with the challenges of being both a father and a punk rocker. And there will be a family component as well (Pouzza Bambino) with Mike Park, Playdate (with Greg of The Bouncing Souls) and Kepi Ghoulie who will take the stage to entertain the young ones.

The 3-day pass can be purchased on the festival’s official web site,, at a cost of $65.00 plus postage

Individual tickets will be available for purchase this week. Please visit our website for additional information, the latest news and a complete list of bands.

It's fucking awesome.

Ty Segall & White Fence announce collaborative album on Drag City

Whether you're walking, rolling and tumbling, flying, driving your car, or sitting still and meditating, wherever you go, Hair you are. You don't always see the wild mystery that comes with everyday life on this rock, but your connection to the Eternal is always present. You just can't see it. Today, you're in luck - up to your frontal eye-lobes in luck. Ty Segall & White Fence have thrown their X-ray vision upon you and see the blood rocking through your veins and all the blood vessels in your brain. They can see them...
Hair it is - to stuff the cracks in your mental chrome dome. Hair for you to stare for awhile. Hair grows like grass beneath your feet, opens up your mind and reflects you in the fun house mirror - spreading past your borderlines, bouncing like rubber, growing and grooving towards the sky (with diamonds). Was it yesterday or yesteryear or is it happening now, on five-second synaptic delay? You were tall, you were went farther than you've ever been.
Chanting to and from the dome is your living soundtrack and providing the Hairdressing for your psychic salad are Ty Segall and White Fence sitter Tim Presley with Sean Presley and Mikael Cronin along on the carpet ride. It unrolls from within them and in between them, and electricity takes many forms, from poppy lunges to acoustic strolls to freak-downs at end of the side. Hair gets tangled deep in clouds of guitars and drums and counter-riffs and percussion, then pressed flat with harmony vocals and compression. Whatever got them through the night, it launches the ship into the stratosphere. And Hair you are again.

Coming April 28th, 2012 from Ty Segall and White Fence: Hair.

Prince Rama Spring tour dates

Drawing from a collective mine of times and spaces, Prince Rama (made up of sisters Taraka and Nimai Larson) takes the threads of ancient symbolism and ritual and weaves a surreal universe that is wholly their own. Their often-unpredictable live shows graze the space between psychedelic ceremony, performance art and initiation rite.
Trust Now, their 5th full-length album and 2nd album to be released on Paw Tracks was born out of this fantastic ritual space. Spawned from the vernal heat of the Florida swamps amidst swirling patterns of pine orchards and pre-Columbian artifacts, Prince Rama was whispered into the ears of Taraka Larson, Nimai Larson, and Michael Collins in the summer of 2007 by the clanging of prayer bells and goat-skin drums. They left the Hare Krishna farm where they were living to attend art school and form a creative nucleus in Boston. The visceral, devotional and raw "Threshold Dances" and "Zetland" were released as the culminations of those early collaborations. At this time Taraka also began working for the controversial visionary artist Paul Laffoley, and inspired by his architectural diagrams of utopic space, composed Architecture of Utopia.
After a series of extensive tours (one of which resulted in a tragic car robbery where all their equipment got stolen), the trio moved to Brooklyn, rebuilt themselves from the ground up and wrote Shadow Temple, produced with the help of Avey Tare and Deakin of Animal Collective and released on Paw Tracks in September 2010.
A few months later, Michael Collins took a hiatus from the band and the two sisters went on to refine and reinvent their sound through the recording of Trust Now, recorded in a 19th century church with Scott Colburn (Sun City Girls, Animal Collective, Arcade Fire). Just this past year Prince Rama was also chosen to be artists in residence at Issue Project Room in Brooklyn, where they currently reside and continue their exploration of the link between music and utopia, conducting group exorcisms to the score of old VHS workout music and re-staging apocalypses through chopped and screwed pop songs.

Black Bananas tour w/ Sleigh Bells

RTX are splitting into Black Bananas!!! The fruit is ripe and the bread will be FRESH.
After three albums under the name RTX, Jennifer Herrema and her bunch decided to flip the script, to kick open the doors of perception a little bit . See, RTX was not Royal Trux, not a metal band, not a 70's bar band and not a toxic substance; RTX was something, all of those things and none of them and way more, including Black Bananas bubbling in a witchy cauldron of their own herbaceousbrew. The title of a song on their RaTX album detailed a bit of the recipe, taking elements often tossed aside or thrown all the way out and combining them into something new and worthwhile...a new strain of the almighty green - to feed and elevate the hungry ones.
"I'm your garbage collector
I'll turn your trash to gold
What you cast off is what I hold,
End loafs of bread, black bananas and broken crackers
Scratched records, too dark pictures and torn jeans
All the shit that rips at the seams"
Black Bananas is set for the next all-inclusive rock and roll crusade, the one that includes even and especially all the shit you don't like, woven into all the shit you can't live without. This has been the name of Jennifer's game from day one; she owns the blueprints and if you don't know by now, don't even bother to Google it, cuz understanding is an investment not an action. Jennifer Herrema is not schizophrenic nor does she don many hats. She is simply a singer and simultaneously, a pioneer of comprehensive non-exclusive opposition rock, and Black Bananas is the latest addition to the oeuvre.
Brian Mckinley, Kurt Midness, Jaimo Welch, and Nadav Eisenman have been ripping and running with Jennifer since 2002, when one by one, they gathered serendipitously, borne by curiosity and the courage to be part of something new. Each passing RTX record saw them wrapped ever tighter in the burgeoning tongue of their own creation. Now, uttering their twisted slang fluently as a unified dialect, they emerge as Black Bananas.
If you wanna hedge (-fund) your bets its best to get out in front of this new national currency they are creating with Black Bananas. These are the notes of the future; with Jennifer at the helm their worth will grow exponentially. Invest!
Black Bananas first album Rad Times Xpress IV runs the gamut from gnarly odes to reality TV in songs like "My House" to future electric metallic GoGo sounds all conceived with scraps of influence from Jennifer's childhood passions zig-zagged with other currents out there, creating a sound that will take you to a specific place that only Black Bananas know how to find.
Most of all, Black Bananas is the new band in town - and they're fucking righteous.

Toronto's CHRIST VS KRISHNA play album launch show

Toronto rock outfit CHRIST VS KRISHNA will launch their vintage brit-pop/new wave flavored debut album “Sidewalk Astronomy” on March 2nd at The Velvet Underground, Toronto. The special LP release show will see Christ Vs Krishna headline, with support from Most People, Drugs In Japan and Jay Sad.
Fronted by Pank Bagga, Christ Vs Krishna is a four-piece influenced by the sounds of The Ramones, The Cure, Joy Division, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Michael Jackson and Bollywood. Bagga writes songs that focus on hooks as much as ambience; chord progressions as much as rhythm; and desire as much as the desire to just have fun.
The band’s 2009 eponymous debut EP was produced by Dean Marino and Jay Sad of Chemical Sound (the producers behind Tokyo Police Club’s Juno-nominated “Elephant Shell”, and many other leading Canadian rock/pop acts, such as The Born Ruffians).
For their debut album “Sidewalk Astronomy”, the band once again enlisted Chemical Sound for production and recording duties. The album was self-released digitally and on CD in the US and Canada on January 1, 2012. Their first single from the album is “Diamonds Die”; a 2-minute guitar pop track that is equal parts The Strokes and vintage The Cure.
A CD copy of the album and one drink is included in the entry price of $8, so come down and dance the night away with your new favorite band.
