AGAINST ME! On Tour In Canada (Two Ontario Dates Announced ) !

Against Me! is excited to announce the release of their music video for their new single “Because of the Shame.” Directed by Jason Thrasher, the video is the band’s personal and lively homage to Common Grounds, a Gainesville, FL, mainstay that recently closed its doors after 15 years of serving both the local and nationally touring music community.

In addition to the new music video, the band recently announced the re-release of their fifth full-length album, White Crosses. Originally released by Sire Records on June 7, 2010 and presented now in two parts, White Crosses and Black Crosses, the reissue will be the first release on the band's newly launched record label, Total Treble Music.
This reissue is a 28-track collection that includes the original 10-song album with four bonus tracks, all produced by Butch Vig and mixed by Alan Moulder. The second half, Black Crosses, is a collection of alternate versions and unreleased songs. Of the 14 self-produced Black Crosses songs, nine were recorded with drummer Warren Oakes at Goldentone Studios in Gainesville, FL, shortly before he departed the band in Spring 2009. The other five acoustic songs were recorded at Crescendo Studios, also in Gainesville, in early 2010. Both the 3xLP vinyl and 2xCD versions of this release are presented in their originally intended packaging created by Steak Mtn., including a 32-page lyric and art booklet. Preorder for both 2xCD and 3xLP White Crosses reissue formats can be purchased through Total Treble online (

The Wild - A Collection CD Out Now

It's been a busy summer for The Wild, to say the least. Fresh off a month-long U.S. tour and on the heels of a new Split 7" with Run, Forever, the Atlanta, GA outfit is celebrating this week's release of A Collection with a free / donation-based download of the 14-song effort.
Available on CD format from Asian Man Records, the aptly titled A Collection compiles all of The Wild's out-of-print singles, EPs, live songs and split releases. You can grab a copy of the record from the label here. Only five bucks!
As an added bonus, the band has teamed up with Quote Unquote Records to release the digital version of A Collection as a free / donation-based download. For more info, go here. It's also worth noting that the digital imprint also released The Wild's 2010 full-length, Set Ourselves Free.
As if that wasn't enough awesome free music, the good folks at If You Make It are currently offering The Wild's recent split 7" with Run, Forever as a complimentary download. The vinyl version of the record was released a few weeks ago (06/21/11) by Solidarity Recordings. Limited to 500 and pressed on black and color vinyl, you can pick up a copy of the 7" here.
As previously mentioned, The Wild recently returned from an extensive U.S. tour. While the band is playing Anthony Fest next week and has been confirmed for FEST 10 and Athens Popfest in October, the five piece will spend most of the next few months writing songs for its next full-length.

Monument - On Tour

Beginning tomorrow, Washington, DC's Monument will embark on a short tour through parts of the East Coast and Midwest. The band is touring in support of Goes Canoeing, its debut full-length from Tiny Engines.
Pressed on 12" vinyl and limited to 500 (275 opaque orange / 175 light blue / 50 180 gram black), Goes Canoeing was officially released on March 22nd, 2011. Grab a copy from the band on tour or from Tiny Engines here. Additionally, Monument self-released a CD version of the album, and digital is also available from most online retailers, including iTunes and Bandcamp.

Download "Roots Run Deep" (Free mp3)

In other news, Monument now has copies of its most recent effort, an eight-song tape titled Sweatpants Fever!. Featuring four brand new tracks from the outfit as well as four cover songs (Superchunk, Wire, Descendents, Braid), the release is being handled by Keep It Together Records. While the tape isn't available from the label yet, Monument will have copies on tour. You can stream all the songs from Sweatpants Fever! here.

JUL 16 - Boston, MA @ Wacky Kastle w/ Ampere, Sinaloa, Ape Up, Footsie

JUL 24 - Akron, Ohio @ It’s A Kling Thing w/ Annabel, White Mage, The Ground Is Lava

From, math-y emo, post-punk, noise-pop, grungy 90's indie rock and even the Dischord-styled hardcore of Monument's D.C. home, Goes Canoeing is as loose and raw as it is infectious and intricately layered. Recorded by Algernon Cadwallader's Joe Reinhart, these 10 songs are bursting with acrobatic guitars, spirited gang vocals and uncommonly catchy melodies, all bolstered by the band's creativity and enthusiasm. Goes Canoeing is filled with wonderfully skewed, raucous anti-anthems for emo, indie, punk and hardcore kids alike. The first great, essential release of 2011.

Broadcaster Release New EP For Free Download

Long Island, NY indie trio Broadcaster have digitally released their new EP, Joyride, for free download on Bandcamp.
Broadcaster originally began in the Spring of 2010 as a "less business, more fun" side-project devoted to playing a handful of 90's covers at local shows. However, the band quickly blossomed into something more substantial as they gained positive feedback for their original material. It is easy to see why with the band's latest release, the digital EP, entitled Joyride. These four songs will make any fan of 90's indie/alt rock swoon.

Listen to "Vacation Days" (mp3) as well as an exclusive acoustic version of "All Your Friends" here.

Recorded in the band's Long Island practice space, Joyride is exactly as it sounds. The EP is a jaunty fusion of punk and indie rock, eluding somewhat to the early days of The Get Up Kids and Nada Surf but with the flare of bands like Cheap Girls and The Thermals as well. Broadcaster's Joyride joyfully relives the golden days of the 90's in 2011.

SUUNS Tour with Handsome Furs & more

Over the past year Suuns have built a reputation for supremely intense live shows "full of thrash, immediacy, and spastic explosiveness" (Brooklyn Vegan), "with an unhinged intensity uncharacteristic of any band in their genre" (Death + Taxes) or more simply and direct "Drone Scholars" (New York Times) and the "#1 Best New Band of 2011" (NME). We have brought you videos for "Up Past The Nursery" and "Pie IX" (NSFW), both of which capture the dark and dangerous aesthetic, but neither has properly captured the sheer force of Suuns live show. Now thanks to director Daniel Ryan of FOR NO, we have a new video that puts you onstage with the band as they cast their "Gaze" right into your eye sockets.
Suuns are currently tearing up the Summer Festival Scene in Europe and Canada with recent performances at Primavera Sound, North by Northeast, and 13 more festivals peformances yet to come including appearances at Pukkelpop, Off Festival and Greenman. But never fear America, in September Suuns will be touring with Handsome Furs in the West and will be playing select dates in the rest of the country in this fall along a headlining Canadaian tour and a co-headlining North American tour with PS I Love You.

Black Numbers To Release 12" From Luther

Philadelphia, PA's Luther has officially joined Black Numbers (Grey Area, Go Rydell, Banquets) and will release a 12" EP, Siblings & Sevens, with the New Jersey label on August 16, 2011.
You can check out the exclusive stream for "The Communion" from Siblings & Sevens on Absolute Punk now.
Forming in late 2010 Luther bring back memories of a simpler and more organic time in rock music. While making no attempts to hide their punk rock roots Luther replace the overt aggression flooding the current world of punk with passion and a sincere sense of urgency. Living in South Philadelphia, Luther's exposure to the city's diverse music scene creates a varied sound that results in a refreshing mixture of indie, punk rock, post-hardcore and pop. Luther's brand of songwriting comes with a natural nervousness that is layered with harmonies and an abstract approach to lyrics, all on top of a driving and unified rhythm section. Coming out swinging, Luther have played over 30 shows, an east coast tour, and recorded a 10 inch and a 7 inch with producer Jeff Zeigler (Kurt Vile, The War on Drugs) within a four month period.

Up and coming Bay Area punk ensemble Heartsounds are set to tour North America in support of their sophomore album Drifter which arrives in stores July 26 via Epitaph Records. Drifter maintains all the previous power of the band’s celebrated debut Until We Surrender, but proves a noticeable evolution of the band’s groundbreaking take on modern punk, a seamless mix of soaring vocals harmonies, unabashed guitar virtuosity and surging hook driven punk rock.
Heartsounds now consists of four permanent members, with founding members Laura Nichol (guitars/vocals) and Ben Murray (guitars/vocals), augmented by new members Trey Derbes (Drums) and Kyle Camarillo (Bass). Drifter was again produced by Zack Ohren with the help of Epitaph founder and Bad Religion member Brett Gurewitz.
“I think that any fans of punk rock, hardcore, or heavy metal will find something to enjoy within the 12 tracks of Drifter," proclaims guitarist/vocalist Ben Murray. “We know our fans will be headbanging and singing along to this record in no time. We hope you are all as excited as we are!”
You can preview the song “Elements” off of the new album Drifter which features Jason Cruz from Strung Out, by going here.
Heartsounds will be touring with an assortment of exciting young bands in support including Vancouver pop punks Living With Lions, post hardcore outfit Make Do And Mend, Hostage Calm, The Story So Far, and Hand Guns.

CATTLE DRUMS - Summer Tour Announced

Cattle Drums (Oneonta, NY) are heading out for a summer tour in support of the band's debut, The Boy Kisser Sessions + 3, on Tiny Engines (Tigers Jaw, CSTVT, Look Mexico). After the summer tour, Cattle Drums will head into the studio to record their debut LP. An early 2012 release date is tentatively scheduled for the LP on Tiny Engines.
The Boy Kisser Sessions + 3 is an eight song collection that puts together the original debut of the band with three newer tracks that were recorded near the end of 2010. The EP was digitally released in February on Tiny Engines and can be downloaded for FREE. Of course you can still download via iTunes as well.

You can sample the track "Who Punched Pat Moore's Face" on RCRD LBL. Additionally, you can listen to "Sluts And Coconuts" from The Boy Kisser Sessions + 3.

Remember when indie music was wild and unpredictable? Remember when bands were hard to pigeonhole into neat little sub-genres? Well, Cattle Drums will remind you if you have forgotten. Hailing from upstate NY, you might shrug your shoulders at a band named Cattle Drums but you would be remiss by doing so. Mixing post-punk, emo/hardcore, shards of math rock and even traces of dark Americana, Cattle Drums distinguish themselves as purveyors of a sound not yet recognizable to our pampered, innocent ears. Lyrically ambiguous and instrumentally ambitious with harsh, aggressive tones, Cattle Drums truly are a wild awakening for the senses. These songs truly defy classification and open the listener up to create their own unique interpretation of the Cattle Drums sound. Need a shock to the system to break you from the mundane of the daily grind? Delve into the madness of the Cattle Drums experience and witness a band operating only by their keen sense of artistic expression. Eccentric and chaotic yet always melodic and intoxicating, Cattle Drums are kicking up dust and noise unlike anybody else right now. Just imagine what is yet to come.

Nightlights - Debut Full-Length Out Now!

So It Goes, the debut full-length from Nightlights (Daytona Beach, FL), is officially out this week from Eulogy Recordings (Set Your Goals, Kids Like Us, Unearth).
Recorded and mixed by I Am The Avalanche's Brett Romnes and mastered by Alan Douches at West West Side, you can grab a copy of the CD from the label here or swing by iTunes and other online retailers for the digital version. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the 12" version of So It Goes has been delayed. Stay tuned for updates on the vinyl pressing.
Currently, is streaming So It Goes in its entirety. To listen the full album, go here. Be sure to check out interviews with vocalist / guitarist Matt Messore at AMP Magazine and Dying Scene as well.
Born from the ashes of No Harm Done, Nightlights blasts through ten crunchy, melody-packed punk anthems that bring to mind contemporaries such as Latterman and The Menzingers. Still, the Florida quartet has grown considerably since last year's debut EP, Long Way Home. Mixing power and passion with a healthy amount of restraint, atmosphere and dynamic song construction. So It Goes is one of those rare albums that works on a visceral gut level while exercising the brain muscles as well.

Half Hearted Hero - Running Water 12" EP

Running Water finds Half Hearted Hero blasting through six cuts of infectious and introspective pop punk while wielding a razor-sharp edge and reveling in a much grittier tone than its peers. With ample energy and hooks galore, the band tips its proverbial cap to contemporaries such as Transit and The Starting Line, but it also explores varying tempos and unique song structures, giving nods to punk torchbearers such as Small Brown Bike and The Fullblast.
Mastered by Jason Livermore at The Blasting Room (Rise Against, A Wilhelm Scream, Propagandhi), Running Water is the follow-up to the Half Heart Hero's 2009 full-length, Defining. Refining. The vinyl is limited to a pressing of 500 on three colorways (100 orange-red marble / 200 opaque olive green / 200 brown)

The Chicago rock band Wilco release their eighth studio album - The Whole Love - on September 27 through their newly launched dBpm Records. The Whole Love opens with the seven-minute “Art of Almost” and concludes with the twelve-minute “One Sunday Morning (Song For Jane Smiley’s Boyfriend).” In between: 10 adventurous tunes (each clocking in at four minutes or less) including the current single, “I Might” which was released this past weekend at the band’s Solid Sound Festival.
Coinciding with the album’s release will be the first leg of Wilco’s North American tour, with performances at Toronto’s Massey Hall, Boston’s Wang Theatre, New York City’s Central Park Summerstage, Nashville’s Ryman and more. Nick Lowe supports on all dates. Complete tour dates are listed below.
The Whole Love track listing: Art of Almost, I Might, Sunloathe, Dawned On Me, Black Moon, Born Alone, Open Mind, Capitol City, Standing O, Rising Red Lung, Whole Love, One Sunday Morning (Song For Jane Smiley’s Boyfriend).
