Cuff The Duke set to release new album Morning Comes on Paperbag Records!

Paper Bag Records is excited to announce the signing of Cuff The Duke. The alt-country road-warriors are set to release their fifth ablum Morning Comes on October 4th. The nine-track album was produced by Blue Rodeo's Greg Keelor and is the first part of a two part album. Morning Comes includes upcoming single 'Count On Me' and an eight minute epic called 'Bound To Your Advice'. Cuff The Duke will be touring extensively after the album's release.

"These albums are about dealing with loss of someone and the change that brings to one's life," says the band's Wayne Petti. "The confusion and loneliness that occurs at that point in someone's life. Coming to grips with the reality of those things. By the end of this record we start to make peace with this and come to terms with it. All these songs are about that. They deal with a similar theme and emotion but still wondering in the back of our minds whether there will be a point to all of it. That's what the second record will be about. Embracing what has happened and navigating down new roads. This album is the low and the next album will be the high."

Cuff the Duke started out in Oshawa before making the move to Toronto in 2002. Their debut album, Life Stories For Minimum Wage was released on Three Gut Records, at the time one of the most exciting indie-labels in Canada. Their second and third albums, Cuff The Duke and Sidelines And The City respectively, were both released on Hardwood Records alongside label mates Basia Bulat and Hayden. Their last album, Way Down Here was co-produced by Blue Rodeo’s Greg Keelor at his beautiful barn studio in rural Ontario.
Paper Bag Records is one of North America’s finest independent record labels. Based in Toronto, Paper Bag Records has cultivated an exciting and diverse roster which includes both domestic and international talent. Recently, the label became the Canadian home for acclaimed electronic act Austra and the enthralling Rural Alberta Advantage, and the North American label for alt-folk stars Elliott BROOD and Cuff The Duke. In its eighth year of existence, Paper Bag Records is currently working with an exciting active roster of PS I Love You, Born Ruffians, The Acorn, Winter Gloves, Woodhands, CFCF, Sally Shapiro and Under Byen. Paper Bag Records has four albums featured on the long list for 2011’s Polaris Music Prize.

WaterTower Music has announced the upcoming release of “TRUE BLOOD – MUSIC FROM THE HBO ORIGINAL SERIES – VOLUME 3” due in stores and online this fall. The follow up to the first two Grammy® nominated soundtracks will consist of new songs from the upcoming forth season of the acclaimed HBO drama as well as music from the show’s wildly successful 3rd season.
Music is an essential element in developing the tone and atmosphere on the hit television series. The sexy, supernatural world of Bon Temps comes to pulsating life through the edgy songs and season three is no exception. An exceptional duet recorded by Neko Case and Nick Cave will be the first track from the collection to make its debut. Case and Cave have recorded a new version of The Zombies’ classic “She’s Not There” which will be available at all digital retailers on June 26, after the premiere episode.
"I am so excited about Neko and Nick's cover of ‘She's Not There,’" says True Blood music supervisor and soundtrack producer Gary Calamar. “I would have been thrilled to have either Neko Case or Nick Cave individually work with us this season, but to have a collaboration like this blows me away. Two of my favorite artists whose music is perfect a fit with the atmospheric and soulful Louisiana settings of True Blood. This is a fantastic way to musically kick off the new season!”
Washington-bred Neko Case’s mix of country, gospel, torch, and pop, and her five full-length solo albums have won her much critical acclaim, countless devotees and two Grammy nominations. Internationally renowned as a singer, songwriter, performer, script writer and novelist, Nick Cave’s career spans from the 80s Australian post‑punk group The Birthday Party, to legendary band Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds to the irrepressible raucous and raw Grinderman.

Information on the additional tracks included in “TRUE BLOOD – MUSIC FROM THE HBO ORIGINAL SERIES – VOLUME 3” will be released later this summer.

Centered in the fictional town of Bon Temps, the Emmy® and Golden Globe®-winning True Blood series follows the romance between waitress Sookie Stackhouse (played by Anna Paquin), who can read minds, and 173-year-old vampire Bill Compton (played by Stephen Moyer). Alan Ball (creator of the Emmy®-winning HBO series Six Feet Under) is creator and executive producer the show, which is based on the best-selling Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Harris.

Gary Calamar serves as music supervisor and soundtrack producer for of “TRUE BLOOD – MUSIC FROM THE HBO ORIGINAL SERIES – VOLUME 3”

The Reveling - Tributaries LP Out Today / Exclusive Album Stream

Tributaries, the debut full-length from The Reveling (Brooklyn, NY), is officially out today from New Jersey punk label Black Numbers (Grey Area, Static Radio NJ, Go Rydell, PJ Bond).
Pressed on both CD and 12" vinyl formats, the latter is limited to 500 on three colorways (100 x clear / 150 x green / 250 x blue) and features gatefold jackets and a free mp3 download card. Of course, record will also be available digitally from Bandcamp, iTunes and other online retailers. For more information, go here.
To celebrate today's release, The Reveling and Black Numbers have teamed up with to offer an exclusive stream of the entire album. To listen to Tributaries in its entirety, go here.
As a compliment to the stream, the band has taken the time to dig deeper into all ten songs on the record, explaining the lyrics and ideas behind each and generally piecing Tributaries together track-by-track. Check out the Artist Insight feature at

And don't forget - you can still download an exclusive mp3 for the song "Chasing My Tail" courtesy of RCRD LBL.

Recorded by Alex Newport (Frank Turner, At The Drive-In, Rival Schools, Samiam) at Big Blue Meenie and Futureshock Studios, and mastered by Jeff Lipton (Arcade Fire, Dead Milkmen, Piebald, Sebadoh), Tributaries features 10 tracks of propulsive, highly infectious working-class punk rock that is as catchy and immediate as it is textured and nuanced. Much like The Reveling's well-received 2009 EP, 3D Radio, this new full-length is anchored by a punchy rhythm section and plenty of throw-your-fists-in-the-air anthems. Still, Tributaries finds the band in top songwriting form, tighter and more cohesive than ever, with an even greater emphasis on the soaring harmonies that made The Reveling so irresistible in the first place.

Fans can now stream the upcoming album Burning At Both Ends by Bay Area punk rockers Set Your Goals while raising money for a good cause at the same time. With every 100,000 streams (up to 200k) the band will donate a dollar for every album sold at Hot Topic during the week of release to Keep A Breast, a non-profit benefiting the awareness and research of breast cancer. You can currently stream Burning At Both Ends in full by going here.
The new album hits streets June 28th via Epitaph Records and offers thirteen absolutely scorching tracks of tight melodic punk rock fueled by high energy drumming and a powerful wall of guitars that's packed with rousing sing along choruses. You can pre-order the album now by clicking here.
In addition, Set Your Goals will be spending the summer months entertaining their many dedicated fans and winning over new ones across the country on the Vans Warped Tour.

Toronto's Elliott BROOD sign to Paper Bag Records.

Elliott BROOD will release their third full-length in Canada on September 27th on Paper Bag Records. Days Into Years was produced by the band and John Critchley at Avening Town Hall and Park Side Drive Studios. The band will be touring extensively after the release. A full list of existing dates can be found below. Download album track 'Northern Air' here.
During their first European tour back in 2007, Elliott BROOD found themselves with five days to reach Barcelona from Amsterdam. They chose to take the back roads on the southward journey and they soon found themselves winding their way through the Belgian and French coastal landscapes. They were drawn to the picturesque seaside ports, quaint villages and secluded fields in the countryside, where they were compelled to stop and explore. They visited historical battlefields and cemeteries along the way, all culminating in an early morning stop at Juno Beach. Not until weeks later, caught in the midsummer Paris rush hour traffic, did the band begin to discuss the effects of that journey. As they reflected upon their experiences, they came to an understanding that they would one day write an album that was inspired and influenced by that five-day trip. Days Into Years is that album.
Elliott BROOD are Casey Laforet (acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass pedals, bass guitar, mandolin, banjo, lap steel, vocals) Mark Sasso (banjo, guitar, harmonica, vocals) and Stephen Pitkin (percussion, drums, piano, vocals).

Akron/Family Release < bmbz > Digitally On June 28th

On Record Store Day this past April, Akron/Family released an experimental collaboration with kindred spirits based around S/T II: The Cosmic Birth and Journey of Shinju TNT-- on double LP only called < bmbz >. The project is an expansion of their new album, creating a redefinition of the original work, that bends and explodes the original songs into entirely different forms in an artistic action that raises questions of what a 'definitive' release really is, and offers a critique of the very nature of releasing music in the modern digital world. For those who weren't lucky enough to snag one of the limited edition Record Store day copies in April, good news! Akron/Family's < bmbz > will be released digitally next week, on June 28th to all digital retailers.
The band is also streaming the entire < bmbz > double album on their own Family Tree Records bandcamp page right now. If you're still curious as to what exactly this project is, there's a full explanation of the genesis of the project straight from AKAK themselves on the Akron/Family website. Both sites are linked below. And stay tuned in July, as Akron/Family returns to Japan where the creative process for S/T II: The Comsic Birth and Journey of Shinju TNT began, touring there for the first time. You can find full tour dates below.

The Story So Far - Exclusive LP Stream @ Alternative Press

Under Soil And Dirt, the debut full-length from The Story So Far (Walnut Creek, CA) is now streaming exclusively at Alternative Press. To listen to all 11 tracks before Tuesday's release date (06/21/11), go here.
Of course, if you like what you hear, you can pre-order the album now from Pure Noise Records, which is releasing Under Soil And Dirt on CD, digital and 12" LP formats. The vinyl will be limited to a pressing of 1000 on three colorways (200 cream w/ red+blue splatter / 300 translucent teal / 500 black) and each copy will come with a full album download. Additionally, anyone who pre-orders the 12" will automatically be entered to win a test press from the label.
Recorded by Sam Pura at The Panda Studios (Sabertooth Zombie, Heavy Heavy Low Low), the record is the follow-up to The Story So Far's last two highly acclaimed EPs, including the recent split 7" with Maker on Pure Noise. Under Soil And Dirt is an undeniably catchy affair, bursting with fist-pumping choruses, dynamic guitars and a propulsive rhythm section. Still, the quintet toes the line between hardcore and rock n' roll, all while making a clear statement about its underground punk roots. As heavy as it is accessible, this amazing full-length will undoubtedly be seen as a definitive release for TSSF and points toward a bright future for the California outfit.
In related news, The Story So Far will be touring heavily in support of its new long-player, starting with a week-long West Coast record release tour that kicks off today, as well as a full U.S. tour in July with I Call Fives and We Are The Union.

THE LUYAS Tour with Blonde Redhead & The Dodos

Earlier this spring, the Luyas toured across Europe, including several weeks of dates supporting the Dodos. The bands became fast friends, and this friendship quickly expanded to the Dodos joining the Luyas onstage every night. The above video, shot in Amsterdam, captures the two bands transforming the space-age pop of the Luyas "Tiny Head" into a heady kraut-groove. The bands will join forces once again, this time for a North American tour that starts August 26. This tour comes on the heels of an already busy summer for the Luyas, including dates with Blonde Redhead, and a string of Canadian festival dates at NXNE, Sled Island, Jazz Winnepeg, and Osheaga.

Shonen Knife have been the most internationally recognized name in Japanese Rock music since their entrance onto the alternative rock scene in the early 90s seeing them become the indie darlings of hipsters and rock stars alike. 2011 celebrates thirty years since Naoko and the band began releasing albums of their joyous mixture of pop, punk, food and fantasy for the world to enjoy. Since their inception in Osaka in 1981 (featuring Naoko’s sister Atsuko and their friend, bassist/vocalist Michie) to their current lineup featuring members Ritsuko (b,v) and Emi (dr,v), SK have maintained their rightful place in the ever changing indie rock scene.
In celebration of this milestone Shonen Knife is paying tribute to one of their biggest musical inspirations since the infancy of their still vibrant career 3 decades ago … NYC’s legendary Ramones.
Osaka Ramones is not only the name of this tribute album, but is also the name of the side project which has made its way in and out of Shonen Knife’s performing history for decades. This East meets West punk rock combination is now captured in an album recorded and mixed between Osaka, JP and New York over the last year and was co-produced by Robby Takac of the American rock band Goo Goo Dolls.
The album, set for release July 19 on Takac’s label Good Charamel Records, will be supported by a North American tour. Dates will be announced shortly.
Please enjoy this awesome collection of songs and celebrate the music of the world’s greatest punk rock band while we celebrate the 4th decade of Japan’s indie rock icons, the mighty Shonen Knife...Hey Ho, Let’s Go! …

Animal Style Records To Release Hold Tight! LP

Animal Style Records is stoked to announce that on July 12th it will release Can't Take This Away, the debut full-length from Hold Tight! (Richmond, VA).
Originally self-released digitally by the band last year via Bandcamp, the label will give these 14 songs a proper vinyl release with a limited pressing of 500 12-inches on three colorways (100 clear w/ black / 200 white / 200 red). The album will feature new artwork and each copy will come with a mp3 download card for all the tracks.
It's worth noting that the record is still available for free / name-your-price download at Bandcamp. Animal Style will also release the LP through all the usual digital outlets, including iTunes.
Undoubtedly influenced by Richmond's thriving underground scene, as well as greats like Lifetime and Latterman, Hold Tight! tears through fourteen gravelly, fist-pumping songs that explode with an entire Summer's worth of sing-along choruses and propulsive punk anthems. There's no shortage of infectious energy on Can't Take This Away and the young quartet makes a lasting impression with this memorable debut.
Stay tuned for pre-order info. In the meantime, you can catch Hold Tight! on its upcoming U.S. tour with This Is Your Life beginning on July 3rd.

The new video was written, directed and produced by Schnepp in Los Angeles and takes fans to a place where visual fantasy meets musical innovation to form a perfect audio-visual match.
“Astral Rejection” teams chaotic moments, brutal breakdowns, electronica interludes and melodic choruses that set the tone for the album and music video. The band—vocalist Matt Mehana and drummer/keyboardist Chris Lent have crafted a metallic masterpiece with Astral Rejection and have raised the bar for sonic innovation and experimentation without sacrificing an ounce of the identity that has already endeared ISMFOF to fans all over the world.
I Set My Friends On Fire will hit the road hard this year, taking on Van’s Warped Tour all summer long.

Corazón de México Presented by WestJet Vacations (July 8-10)

Harbourfront Centre along with its lead summer partner, The Toronto Port Authority, present Corazón de México (“Heart of Mexico”), a festival bringing together the traditional and the modern with sights, sounds and movements from Mexico. This festival is programmed in partnership with the Consulate General of Mexico in Toronto, and is generously supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico.
The sounds of Mexico take over Toronto’s downtown waterfront with performers Celso Piña (aka the Accordion Rebel) and Nortec Collective Presents: Bostich & Fussible, who combine traditional norteño and techno music as they take to the WestJet Stage. Also performing is Toronto’s own Dirty Maria, a Latin-alternative rock band, and Mexican ranchera music singer Cecilia Guerrero.
Foodies can learn how to make authentic Mexican food alongside Chef Francisco Alejandri who will be making tostadas (chicken) with lime and chia agua fresca (a fresh fruit drink). Become an expert in tequila and mezcal (Mexican spirits) as professionals reveal the secrets and history behind these traditional favourites. Experience bona fide Mexican cuisine by some of the finest chefs from Mexico. Yuri de Gotari and Edmundo Escamilla are the founders of The School of Mexican Gastronomy and have studied anthropological, social, historical and cultural perspectives of Mexican food for over a decade. Their expertise is featured in a number of food demos throughout the weekend.
Corazón de México’s family events include Marionetas de la Esquina, a 35-year-old puppet theatre company from Mexico that entertains all ages with their show. Children will also enjoy clowns as they come to life during Clowntime in Mexico.
And for the grand finale, check out our fashion show that features Mexico’s best mariachi bands and folkloric dance companies.
Join us this summer as we explore “Hot Spots” of intensity, artistic brilliance, connectivity, and regions of conflict that shape the impressions we have of ourselves and our world. This theme is programmed into each weekend festival to bring together rich local artistic traditions and those from around the globe! It also presents a unique opportunity to experience top Canadian and international artists in a fun, family-friendly environment without ever leaving the city!
Hot spots may not always be comfortable, but they are conduits of change. Embrace change or defy it – it is ultimately up to you. This summer, Harbourfront Centre presents programming that asks: What’s your hot spot?
For additional information and complete event listings, the public may visit or call the Information Hotline at 416-973-4000. Harbourfront Centre is located at 235 Queens Quay West in the heart of downtown Toronto’s waterfront.

For Toronto’s alt-country fans, Monday nights will never be the same. The Rattlesnake Choir is set to play the last of its long-standing weekly residency gigs at The Dakota Tavern on Monday, June 27, 2011 at 10 p.m..
With the release of the band’s new album, Walkin’ The Wire, Rattlesnake Choir look forward to playing more shows at new venues, bringing its swingin’ alt-country to new crowds. Having played The Dakota’s Monday night slot for as long as most can remember, Rattlesnake Choir have been an integral part of Toronto’s vibrant roots and country music scene.
The band released their latest effort, Walkin’ The Wire, on April 26 and celebrated the album’s release to a packed house at Toronto’s Horseshoe Tavern. Sticking to their traditional roots, Walkin’ The Wire (Cousin Jeb Records) was recorded live off the floor to tape in an analogue studio. As a live band first and foremost, capturing that “live off the floor” essence for the recording was paramount.
The Rattlesnake Choir are John Borra, Sam Ferrara, Tony Benattar, Miranda Mulholland and Michael Boguski. The band’s collective back pages read like a who’s who of Canadian music: The Ugly, A Neon Rome, Viletones, Change Of Heart, The Mahones, Groovy Religion, Blue Rodeo, Ron Sexsmith, Luther Wright, The Cash Brothers, Serena Ryder, The Cameron Family Singers, The Beauties and more. Their experience in punk, rock and country, coupled with their unique ability to capture the nostalgia of early country and western music, has created a distinct and unique sound, helping to shape and influence Toronto’s local music scene since coming together in 2006.

Antillectual - On Tour w/ Boy Sets Fire

The Dutch trio has been confirmed for a supporting slot on the upcoming BOY SETS FIRE reunion tour. Beginning next Tuesday, the punk outfit will be playing a total of 16 shows (06/14 - 07/01) across Europe with the newly reformed hardcore band. Antillectual has additional dates confirmed with Rise Against, A Wilhelm Scream and Leatherface, and in October it will be embarking on another European tour with recent Kiss Of Death signees, Static Radio NJ.
Antillectual's newest full-length, START FROM SCRATCH, was released in late 2010 on LP and CD (Europe only) by ten different labels throughout the world, including Square Of Opposition in the States. Additionally, the band has made the record available as a free / pay-what-you-like download. The rest of the outfit's discography is also available for download here.
Unquestionably Antillectual's most accomplished record to date, Start From Scratch is firmly rooted in the combustible, dynamic punk of the '90s skate scene while incorporating in hints of modern emo, orgcore and even metal. It may not be the Dutch trio's most relentless effort to date, but for those who place breakneck speeds at the top of their want lists, the superior song writing will by far make up for it. Besides, it's not like these tracks are slow; we're talking about some seriously driving, fist-pumping barnburners here ... the stuff that punk rock classics are made of.

Anti- Records will be releasing an important and powerful new album by the acclaimed Touareg band TINARIWEN entitled Tassili this August 30th.
The soundtrack of the Touareg revolution in Saharan North Africa was created by electric guitars. Plaintive rhythms created a unique desert blues whose lyrics raged against world indifference and evoked a longing for disappearing freedoms.
On their enthralling new album entitled Tassili, the renowned band TINARIWEN have set down their electric guitars and returned to the very essence of their art. Recorded in a protected region of the South-Eastern Algerian desert, the group returned to the roots of their music, with only acoustic guitars and unamplified percussion. During recording, the band was joined by Tunde Adebimpe and Kyp Malone of the band TV On The Radio. Later on, guitarist Nels Cline (Wilco) and the horns of the Dirty Dozen Brass Band contributed to create an album that reaches deep into the essence of TINARIWEN’s sound while simultaneously opening itself to the surrounding world.

The Reveling - Pre-Order Debut LP Now

Tributaries, the debut full-length from The Reveling (Brooklyn, NY), is now available for pre-order from Black Numbers (Grey Area, Static Radio NJ, Go Rydell, PJ Bond). The album will see an official street date of June 21st from the New Jersey punk label.
Pressed on both CD and 12" vinyl formats, the latter is limited to 500 on three different colorways (100 x clear / 150 x green / 250 x blue) and features gatefold jackets. Of course, Tributaries will also be available digitally from Bandcamp, iTunes and other online retailers. For more information, go here.
To celebrate the pre-order, The Reveling and Black Numbers have teamed up with RCRD LBL to premier "Chasing My Tail." To download an exclusive mp3 for the song, go here. And don't forget that "Left At Forkright" is still streaming at as well.

Introducing... Revelstoke

Toronto's Andrew Seale (more recently known as indie folk act Revelstoke) released his debut EP titled Espirit d'Escalier on July 5th, 2011. The EP is up for free download to the public, exclusively on his Bandcamp page. Self-written, recorded, produced, and mixed Seale proves himself single handedly capable of driving this musical enterprise.
Revelstoke has since been gaining attention within the local scene from his unique one-man show. The combination of guitar (often played with a violin bow) and banjo create songs much bigger than the venues themselves. His compelling live performances have brought him to stages opening for Appleseed Cast, Brett Caswell, and more. Inspired by the eclectic nature of artists like Sufjan Stevens and Bon Iver, Seale captures sincere and honest moments with his music. You can't help but come back for more.
Seale recently caught the attention of the Revelstoke Times Review because of his moniker and in a show review the Toronto Social Review scribed, "Exceeding expectations...[Revelstoke] makes raw, beautiful joy with a killer vocal range. He also engages in looping, which is eternally fascinating when done live. Just so you know, we saw him first, we told you so.
Revelstoke will be performing twice at this year's North by Northeast Festival in Toronto. Once on Wednesday, June 15th at the Central upstairs patio and the second on Sunday, June 19th as part of the Live in Bellwoods Series.

Kim Wempe's Painting With Tides

Audio Blood is pleased to introduce you to a true East coast gem. Nova Scotia's Kim Wempe has already sown a loyal following in Atlantic Canada and been embraced by the industry and fans alike, now we want you to love her as much as we do!
"Chameleon" from her latest album Painting With Tides was recently announced as a semi-finalist in the Nashville based International Songwriting Competition alongside other finalists Joel Plaskett, Jimmy Rankin and Tanya Davis.
Wempe released her stunning Where I Need to Be EP in 2009. The EP won her both an East Coast Music Award and Nova Scotia Music Award along with the Galaxie Rising Star Prize. The strength of her live performance has brought her to stages playing alongside Canadian favourites like Royal Wood, Rawlins Cross, Dave Gunning, Jenn Grant, Amelia Curran, Christina Martin, JP Cormier, and Alejandra Ribera among others.
Canadian songstress Jill Barber has been a longtime supporter. "Kim Wempe sings directly from the soul, and the result is incredibly powerful," says Jill. "She instantly draws you in with her voice, and holds you there with the strength of her performance and her songs."

Teenage X New Album: Drink Dance Destroy‏

Teenage X are the band every music lover knows. They are the band you blare at an excessive volume from your car stereo with the windows rolled down. They are the band blasting from the speakers at that house party you’re still recovering from. And finally, they are the band that bring the house down while a crowd of sweaty, elated fans dance without regard. As Toronto’s most pop of the punk bands and the most punk of the pop bands, Teenage X don’t just make power punk music; they make music that brings people together.
It’s this togetherness which the band not only inspires but utilizes as a songwriting tool which has given birth to their self-released debut record Drink Dance Destroy. Recorded over three weekends, there is an urgency heard within the band’s relentless but ultimately jovial sound that was aided in no small part by Simon Head (SNFU, Marilyn’s Vitamins) who mixed and mastered the record. But what keeps these four talented and insanely creative musicians playing is their drive to write tunes from the heart, with soul worth its weight in platinum.
Drink Dance Destroy contains SoCal swagger (‘Losin’ It’), liquored up madness (‘Chelsea Horror Hotel’), and stomp-along party anthems (‘Say What You Want’). At two and a half minutes ‘The Signal’ opens the record with Ramones-style fury, held afloat by the snarling vocals of Sarah Page. Dripping with a rawness not often heard, Page’s vocals channel some of punk’s finest heroines of the past, from Patti Smith to Joan Jett. But as soon as the two minute knock out punch of ‘Fast Machine’ kicks in, we realize there is so much more to this band. They manage to fill each of their two minute tracks with more emotion than many artists put into an entire record.
All four members have cemented their place in Toronto’s local scene whose resumes credit success with bands including The Downbelows, Inner City Surfers, Spinecracker, and The Threat. Front woman Sarah Page studied piano from age five, completing Royal Conservatory of Music level 10 and studied Jazz Performance at college. And when you’re seduced by the power of punk rock early in life (as all of them were) then it’s easy to understand where the passion of Drink Dance Destroy comes from. Within the album are hints of Iggy Pop, The Replacements, Bad Brains and The Jam. What’s more, the band makes an effort to spin the eternal Never Mind The Bollocks! before every gig.
For everyone out there with an ear for driving punk and a soft spot for hooky pop tunes Drink Dance Destroy is the answer. Teenage X is the band that makes punk rockers admit that they like pop music.
