The Story So Far - Pre-Order New Full-Length

Under Soil And Dirt, the debut full-length from The Story So Far (Walnut Creek, CA) is now available for pre-order from Pure Noise Records. The label will release the 11-song effort on CD, digital and 12" LP formats on June 21st, 2011.
Recorded by Sam Pura at The Panda Studios (Sabertooth Zombie, Heavy Heavy Low Low), the record is the follow-up to the quintet's last two highly acclaimed EPs, including the recent split 7" with Maker on Pure Noise. The vinyl will be limited to a pressing of 1000 on three colorways (200 cream w/ red+blue splatter / 300 translucent teal / 500 black) and each copy will come with a full album download.
To celebrate the pre-order, Pure Noise and The Story So Far are streaming a brand new song. Listen to "Quicksand" here.
Under Soil And Dirt is an undeniably catchy affair, bursting with fist-pumping choruses, dynamic guitars and a propulsive rhythm section. Still, The Story So Far toes the line between hardcore and rock n' roll, all while making a clear statement about its underground punk roots. As heavy as it is accessible, this amazing full-length will undoubtedly be seen as a definitive release for TSSF and points toward a bright future for the California outfit.
In related news, The Story So Far will be touring heavily in support of its new long-player, including a week-long West Coast record release tour in June and a full U.S. tour in July with I Call Fives and We Are The Union.

A statement from Vancouver's Living With Lions regarding the recent controversy over the artwork to the band's new album "Holy Shit" (Adeline Records)

"The content of our artwork for our new recording was created out of our passion for satire and absurdist humor. The lyrical and musical content of this record does not contain any commentary on religion, nor does it use a pejorative or malicious voice against any particular group of people (excluding possibly some of our ex-girlfriends).
When the idea came up to simply alter the artwork for HOLY SHIT without having to expedite the repayment to FACTOR (The Foundation Assisting Canadian Talent on Recordings), we chose to entirely return the money so that HOLY SHIT can forever remain true to the original format.
The debate about government funding contributing to potentially controversial art is neither new nor truly resolved; but when the offended public complains, the politicians habitually remind groups like FACTOR, the NEA and the Arts Council that they can pull the plug rather than encourage discourse or scholarly debate.
We would like to thank our fans, friends and family for their continued support. We'd especially like to thank some of our newer fans in the media whose stance(s) on free speech has been really influential:

"Only a fool would think that censoring and gagging someone is equivalent of changing their mind." - Ezra Levant

"I'm a mad believer in free speech and standing up to those who want to stifle free speech and impose standards of expectations." - James Moore "

Paper and Plastick's Recording Artist DAVE HAUSE In Canada !

Paper and Plastick are proud to announce the solo debut record from DAVE HAUSE, Resolutions.
Best known as the vocalist/guitarist of Philadelphia’s beloved punks The Loved Ones, Dave Hause combined the catchiness of his previous work with his love of singer/songwriters. The resulting Resolutions is a rock album with no genre restrictions and limitations, that features diverse songs as the uplifting “C’Mon Kid,” the polka-inspired “Prague (Revive Me),” the somber “Heavy Heart,” and the romping title track “Resolutions.” Of the album, Hause comments “I feel like these are the best songs I’ve written to date.”
Hause recorded the album with the help from some friends, collectively known as the Empty Bottles Band, and incorporated traditional rock instruments along with the organ, pedal steel and mandolin. The sound is far from Hause’s work with The Loved Ones, setting him free from the “punk turned solo artist” moniker. “The songs I was writing at the time didn't really fit [The Loved Ones style] and seemed to be pulling in a different direction, so I figured I would see that through,” said Hause. “When songs happen quickly and easily you just kind of have to ride the wave, and before I knew it I had a record's worth of good tunes that don't fully fit the Loved Ones paradigm. I think fans of my songwriting will definitely get what’s going on and will be happy to hear it.”
Don’t miss your chance to see Dave Hause live and hear the songs from his new release Resolutions !

The Duke & The King press release

Anti- Records is thrilled to be releasing an album by the critically heralded soul-folk-glam ensemble The Duke & The King. Formed in New York by acclaimed musician-writer Simone Felice, previously a key songwriter and founding member of celebrated country rock outfit The Felice Brothers, The Duke & The King are a potent acoustic-vocal group created by Felice and Robert Bird Burke featuring Simi Stone and Nowell “ The Deacon” Haskins.
Named after the traveling Shakespearean troupe in Mark Twain’s classic The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, The Duke & The King create a rollicking undeniably soulful sound in the vein of classic songwriters from James Taylor to Rolling Thunder Review, Fleetwood Mac and Sly & the Family Stone while adding a distinctly personal touch with Felice’s affecting narratives. It is a quality which inspired the BBC to compare his songwriting to Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan.
The band’s upcoming self-titled Anti-Records release will hit stores August 2nd and is a collection of songs culled from the group’s two previous English albums, not yet available in the North America. Both records have received unanimously enthusiastic reviews from the British press.

To listen to the song “Shaky” by The Duke & The King, just go to:

Epitaph Records is thrilled to announce the signing of up and coming Scranton raised, Philadelphia based punk rock outfit The Menzingers. The band’s fiery early releases and dynamic crowd pleasing live performances on tours supporting Anti Flag and Against Me! have created a serious buzz and landed the group on several best of lists. Their high energy sound features crashing power chords, rock steady drumming and anthemic sing-along choruses alongside poetic salt of the earth lyrics in the vein of Against Me! and Gaslight Anthem.
Epitaph Founder and President Brett Gurewitz proclaims, “These guys play the kind of pure punk rock that I grew up with. They are seriously talented songwriters and I’m happy to welcome them to the Epitaph family. I think the band is a great fit here.”

Stay tuned to for upcoming news and futher details.

Say Hello, the debut full-length from Born Without Bones (Milford, MA) is officially out and available to order from Animal Style Records.
Limited to a pressing of 500 12-inches on three colorways (100 black / 200 sky blue / 200 wheat yellow), each copy of Say Hello comes with a full album download, plus an additional eight unreleased B-side tracks. A handful of these b-sides are streaming exclusively at Property Of Zack while the album songs are available as a free / pay-what-you-want download via Bandcamp. The record can be purchased from iTunes as well. For more info, go here.

Listen to "Say Hello"

Recorded by Kory Gable (Strike Anywhere, The Dangerous Summer, I Call Fives), Say Hello is an incredibly varied, occasionally theatrical yet highly infectious full-length that finds Born Without Bones laying a rock-solid foundation on the basis of pop and punk rock. Still, the framework of these 12 songs is fortified by a wide array of influences, which is to say that there's no shortage of intriguing ideas on the record. Of course, if these ideas weren't so perfectly executed, Say Hello would not make nearly the impact it does. While Born Without Bones' primary goal seems to be crafting upbeat, dynamic songs with melodies that last for days and days, the band's undeniable ambition and ability to transition from flat-out punk burners to sweet, piano-laced offerings to intimate acoustic numbers makes for one impressive debut.

Jello Biafra and the Guantanamo School of Medicine

Jello Biafra and the GSM are at it again, with 5 unreleased rippers and a rare Deviants classic!
Hot on the heels of the full-length "Audacity Of Hype," the Guantanamo School of Medicine- featuring are Ralph Spight (Victims Family, Freak Accident, Hellworms), Jon Weiss (Sharkbait, Horsey), Billy Gould (Faith No More), & Kimo Ball (Freak Accident, Carneyball Johnson, Mol Triffid, Griddle)- roar back with these ferocious tracks!
The band's twin guitar attack retains some of the space-punk overtones and spy-music-on-meth chaos of Dead Kennedys while adding a healthy dose of Detroit style proto-punk, flavored with Weiss' industrial excursions into metal percussion.
This is Jello Biafra's 1st full-time band since Dead Kennedys broke up in 1986, and it shows in the depth and breadth of Jello's musical chops and lyrical triumphs on these five originals and his reworking of the Deviants classic "Metamorphosis Exploration."

5 songs (24:55)
1. Dot Com Monte Carlo
2. The Cells That Will Not Die
3. Victory Stinks
4. Invasion of the Mind Snatchers
5. Miracle Penis Highway

Bonus Kraut Rock track:
"Metamorphosis Exploration On Deviation Street Jam," a transmogrified 18-minute cover of the Deviants "Metamorphosis Exploration" from the import-only compilation "Portobello Shuffle- A Testimonial to Boss Goodman and Tribute to the Deviants and Pink Fairies" (Easy Action Records

Art by Jim Altieri and Michel Langevin (VOIVOD)

Recorded and mixed by Matt Kelley, Hip Hop producer and long time Jello co-conspirator Matt Kelley (Hieroglyphics, The Coup, Digital Underground, Victims Family, Tumor Circus)

Black Numbers To Release Debut LP From The Reveling

Brooklyn, NY's The Reveling has officially joined Black Numbers (Grey Area, Static Radio NJ, Go Rydell, PJ Bond) and will release its debut full-length, Tributaries, with the New Jersey label on June 21, 2011.
Recorded by Alex Newport (Frank Turner, At The Drive-In, Rival Schools, Samiam) at Big Blue Meenie and Futureshock Studios, and mastered by Jeff Lipton (Arcade Fire, Dead Milkmen, Piebald, Sebadoh), Tributaries features 10 tracks of propulsive, highly infectious working-class punk rock that is as catchy and immediate as it is textured and nuanced. Much like The Reveling's well-received 2009 EP, 3D Radio, this new full-length is anchored by a punchy rhythm section and plenty of throw-your-fists-in-the-air anthems. Still, Tributaries finds the band in top songwriting form, tighter and more cohesive than ever, with an even greater emphasis on the soaring harmonies that made The Reveling so irresistible in the first place.
Swing on by to hear an exclusive stream of the first single from the record, Left At Forkright.

RALEIGH – Recent Victims of Van Break In :(

It’s a story heard all too often: touring bands having property stolen while out on the road. Less than a few hours into their journey, and fresh off a flight from Calgary, newstyle prog-rock trio Raleigh were the targets of a van break-in before their first show at Toronto’s Tranzac Club.
Stolen items include a MacBook Air, a MacBook Pro, a digital camera, a passport belonging to drummer Matt Doherty, 25 CDs of the bands latest album New Times In Black and White, two backpacks (leaving Brock with only the clothes he was wearing at the time), and most devastatingly a valued tour diary containing stories and memories along with the names of friends, bands and venues spanning the last four years.
Onwards and upwards, the band is en route back to Alberta where they’ll play select dates including a hometown show celebrating their independent album release. Western Canadian tour dates in the works.
Raleigh is Brock Geiger (guitar/vocals), Clea Anaïs (cello/piano/vocals), and Matt Doherty (drums).

Darko are releasing a free download on their Facebook Page on May 16th of their cover of Carry On Wayward Son by Kansas.
The brilliant artwork based on the original album art was done by JoSmithCreative
The release is followed up a UK tour with fellow tech punks Laughing in the Face of four days later.

EVE 6 to record their new album with producer Don Gilmore this June!

Recent Fearless Records signing EVE 6 is set to enter the studio this June with legendary producer Don Gilmore (Pearl Jam, Dashboard Confessional, Good Charlotte, The All-American Rejects). The band will be recording their long-awaited fourth studio album. Gilmore's previous work includes production on Linkin Park's 10 x platinum-seling album Hybrid Theory and 5 x platinum-selling release Meteora. Gilmore also produced EVE 6's platinum-selling self-titled debut album.
"Starting in the first couple weeks of June, we'll be descending into the dungeon (AKA studio) to record album #4 with Don Gilmore, our producer on the first two album," notes the band. "Don is a svengali/genius type of guy, and is a great match for our style and sensibility in the studio. We have a special bond with him, and are excited to get in the trenches and become comrades in musical arms once again. It's been great having all this time to refine the material; we feel this will be song for song our strongest album to date."
Read more of the band's statement on their website.

Since the band's debut in 1998, Eve 6's brand of clever and high energy pop-punk-rock has sold in excess of three million albums in North America. The band's three albums have spawned a number of top singles, including #1 smash "Inside Out", "Think Twice", "Promise", "Leech", and the radio/MTV mega-anthem "Here's to the Night," which continues to serve as the theme for many high school graduations and proms to this day.
After a brief disbandment in which the members pursued various other projects, Eve 6 reformed in early 2008, and spent much of the following two years on the road reconnecting with the fan base and playing to crowds wildly enthusiastic about their return. The band signed to Fearless Records early May 2011, and is excited to work on new material. "This will be a great home for us," notes the band. "They're super pumped about this record and the new songs and are just as anxious to get it recorded and released as we are."

High energy melodic cult rockers Alkaline Trio will be releasing a brand new album entitled Damnesia this July 12th via Epitaph Records/Heart & Skull. The new record features a selection of beloved fan favorites selected from the group’s extensive catalogue and presented in an intimate-semi unplugged format. Also included will be a cover of the song “I Held Her In My Arms” by influential indie rock trio The Violent Femmes as well as two brand new Alkaline Trio songs entitled “Olde English 800” and “I Remember A Rooftop.”
Also, on sale this week are tickets for the first leg of the group’s special 15th anniversary tour which kicks off July 10th. The band plans to make the tour something special for fans. As singer/bassist Dan Andriano explains, “We’re looking forward to our 15th anniversary tour this summer. We’re going to really try to put together a set that encompasses everything the band has done over the past 15 years and plan to play some songs that rarely find their way in to the set list. We will also play some songs in an unplugged style similar to what we’ve recently recorded on Damnesia. It’s going to be a lot of fun.”
Since forming in Illinois, in 1996, Alkaline Trio has continued to amass a devoted cult following with their infectious punk hooks and darkly dramatic tongue-in-cheek lyrics, Comprised of guitarist/vocalist Matt Skiba, bassist/vocalist Dan Andriano and drummer Derek Grant, the band has created some of punk's most memorable songs with favorites like “Radio” from the 2000 album Maybe I’ll Catch Fire, “Mercy Me” from the 2005 album Crimson, “Blue In The Face” from 2003’s Good Mourning and “The American Scream” from 2010’s This Addiction.

Lou Canon announces string of shows at Toronto's The Dakota.

Toronto-based singer-songwriter Lou Canon will be performing tracks from her self-titled debut album during a three-date residency at Toronto's Dakota Tavern. Lou Canon will be the special guest of headliner Wayne Petti and The Theives tonight (May 4th), May 11th and May 25th.
Lou Canon will be available digitally on May 10th from iTunes Canada through Hardwood Records/Universal Music Canada. The album will be released physically on July 12th. The ten-track Hayden-produced effort sees the multi-instrumentalist contribute nine self-penned originals and one stellar cover of The Cure's "Close to Me" (download below).
Lou Canon is a musician living in Toronto. She teaches for a living and sings for a loving. She once reserved her wild imagination and playfulness for the classroom. Her students were happy, but something was amiss.
Although she continued to teach, her day no longer ended with the bell. She would unravel her bun at the door and spend her nights three stories above street level, in a very special place called Skyscraper National Park. Alongside Canadian musician, Hayden, she created, laughed, lingered, swore, drank tea, drank wine and slowly built her debut album.

As a songwriter with The Killers, whose writing is frequently approached collaboratively, it will come as no shock to find that Vannucci has a way with a genius song of his own. Vannucci is a true multi-instrumentalist and superb vocalist who has created an album that pays homage to some of his greatest influences. With Big Talk, Vannucci stays true to his roots while carving his own musical path.
When The Killers came off the road last February after almost nine years of back-to-back albums and touring, Vannucci saw the opportunity to get out there with his own thing, to bring his own ideas, his own voice front-and-center for the first time. “I needed to do this,” he says. “And now, having done it, it feels like the right thing to do. It all feels very natural.”
Vannucci recruited an old friend and former band mate, Taylor Milne to help in the studio and who will play lead guitar when Big Talk performs live. “Taylor really attacks things at a different angle,” he says, highlighting the guitarist’s unique style of playing. “All these really cool leads that you’ll hear on the songs are Taylor. We work on things together, but it’s his take, so sometime it’s very different. It sounds fresh to me.”
Vannucci will take Big Talk to the stage this summer along with Milne and a full band. Ronnie Vannucci is Big Talk, which is the name of his band, the name of his album, and in, a way, both what his record is about and also not what his record is about. Whatever Big Talk is or is not, there is no doubt that it will be the rock soundtrack to the summer.

New Jolie Holland Album!

Anti- Records is thrilled to announce the release of Jolie Holland’s new album PINT OF BLOOD. Set for a June 28th release, on this record the critically acclaimed songwriter and multi-instrumentalist draws on her wide range of influences to create an inspired, distinctive and beautifully cohesive ten-song collection.
Recording mostly live in her home studio with co-producer Shahzad Ismaily, Jolie relied on the spontaneity & energy of the sessions to create PINT OF BLOOD, an album that impresses with its originality and honesty, its inspired storytelling and impassioned performances.
With PINT OF BLOOD, Jolie has found a new focus to her sound - a looseness that always stays sharp, never loses the root of her work and ultimately reveals new layers in Jolie’s inimitable style.
New songs such as “All Those Girls,” the outright violence of “Remember” and the sweeping “Gold and Yellow,” masterfully capture a candidness that results in a confident artistic statement - Jolie’s most musically focused and emotionally direct collection to date.

Calgary's Raleigh Release 'New Times In Black And White'‏

Some of the most beautiful, enlightening music comes out of places where we least expect it. Frozen under a thick layer of snow and ice for eight months of the year, Calgary is often known as the birthplace of relentless, hard-nosed punk rock. But this kind of preconceived notion is of no use to Clea Anaïs and Brock Geiger, who first discovered each other through the city’s Devonian Gardens after Anaïs heard Geiger singing across a goldfish pond. It was this kind of natural, serendipitous meeting which eventually gave birth to Raleigh, a natural and serendipitous band if ever there was one. Rounded out by Matt Doherty, the trio is ready to present New Times In Black And White, their debut self-released album out on May 24th.
New Times In Black And White is a lush, tasteful listen that draws on the finer elements of earthy folk and chamber pop with delicate melodies that hold the whole thing together. All three members have spent time playing with illustrious company, including Woodpigeon, The Dojo Workhorse and The Dudes, and as evidenced here on the album they have not let this time pass them by. Each and every track is inflicted with the kind of tragic, rolling beauty that calls to mind the effortless grandeur of Fleet Foxes and Broken Social Scene.
'Godspeed’ evokes a certain emotional pain but eventually gives way to a stronger and more potent emotional resonance with a deft, undulating rhythm. ‘Marrow’ is bouncy enough, but never overbearing. ‘Drip’ showcases the band’s ability to make listeners weep with Anaïs and Geiger’s harmonies while ‘Tunnel Vision,’ the album’s stunning and consistently growing opener evokes the thought of the aforementioned park awakening at springtime after months of slumber.
While New Times In Black And White is indeed deep in sonic textures, what remains is how clear and focused the band’s vision is. Nothing is cluttered and nothing is sacrificed. Driven by boy/girl duet vocals with cello, guitar and drum instrumentation, Raleigh have combined their musical upbringings into a truly subjective work of art.

Matt Pryor (The Get Up Kids) Kickstarts A New Album

Adding to a busy 2011, Get Up Kids' front man Matt Pryor has announced that he has started work on a new solo album, titled May Day. The title May Day comes from Pryor's plan to write, record and complete work on the album, all during the month of May. The album, a follow up to his 2008 solo release Confidence Man, is pencilled for release later this year.
Echoing the DIY path the Get Up Kids took, Pryor has pledged to release the record independently, and has extended this concept one step further by looking to crowd-funding solutions for the creation of May Day.
To help finance the project, Pryor has turned to site, asking his fans to pledge in return for various incentives including, but not limited to, vinyl test pressings, exclusive t-shirts and screen-printed posters, the guitars played on the record and an unreleased solo record dubbed Still There's A Light.
Still There's A Light will only be available to fans who contribute to the Kickstarter campaign. As a taster, you can watch a clip of Pryor playing "Where Do We Go From Here" - a song from the unreleased album - on his Kickstarter page. Fans who participate in the project will also have access to exclusive videos and MP3's from the recording sessions, as work on the album progresses.

Pryor has set a $10,000 goal and given himself a month to raise the funds.

Jon Snodgrass In Canada !

Paper & Plastick are proud to announce the 7" release Tri-state by Jon Snodgrass and Friends. For those that need a reminder Jon was one of the driving songwriting forces in DRAG THE RIVER and ARMCHAIR MARTIAN, Jon says "..I'm the guy with the glasses.." but while that may be the humble answer Jon is musicians musician with a penchant for writing songs that rattle inside your chest for hours after they stop playing.
As always Jon Snodgrass continues to do what he has always done best: write and record great music. For this 7” Jon teamed up with his friends from The Ship Thieves, Hot Water Music, and longtime DESCENDENTS guitar player Stephen Egerton. You might think you know what this album sounds like, but I think it might surprise you a bit. The album incorporates the hard-edged rock you expect from Armchair Martian with the more rootsy sounds you might expect to hear with Drag the River and the result being a labor of love , celebrating friendship and another documentation of Jon’s great songwriting skills.

Don’t miss your chance to catch him live with Bad Astronaut (Joey Cape from Lagwagon)!
