The Vaccines Debut Album out May 31st in Canada & US

On May 31st Columbia Records will release The Vaccines debut album What Did You Expect From The Vaccines? On the back of a huge UK buzz, The Vaccines are now setting their sights on North America. The band debuted a handful of these album tracks to excited Canadian and U.S. fans in January with four sold-out shows that took place in Toronto, New York City and Los Angeles. Due to popular demand, the band will be back in the U.S. next month with a slew of dates at SXSW (show times below).
Spin Magazine raved of the bands recent debut: "The Vaccines' first American show was an audition for the job of world's biggest band of right now, and after blasting through 12 doses of anthemic, cocksure rock'n'roll in barely 30 minutes flat, they became leading candidates for the position." In addition, the band will be joining Spin Magazine at their annual SXSW@Stubb’s event this year on Friday March 18th in Austin.
Last October, The Vaccines played the show that would ultimately dictate the next few months of their career. As 200 eager fans packed inside the London venue Flowerpot, outside 200 more fans were being turned away. Earlier that summer the band had released their first track "If You Wanna" a track that The Independent called “three minutes of vintage, brash, no-messing, rock’n’roll.” This track and the power packed, 80-second track "Wreckin Bar (Ra Ra Ra)", in combination with the infamous Flowerpot gig, would catapult the band into becoming 2011’s most exciting new act according to NME, MTV, BBC Radio 1, Elle, Vogue, Spin Magazine and many more! Their current single “Post Break-Up Sex” is now in heavy rotation at MuchMusic.
In November, The Vaccines were invited to play on Jools Holland where they performed three tracks, a privilege not often given to such new bands. Additionally, the band was booked on the show before having released a single record- an honor previously granted never granted before (see clips below).
After releasing a 7” with UK imprint label Marshall Teller Records, the band signed to Columbia Records. Their full length debut, What Did You Expect From The Vaccines?, is 37 minutes of “Lo-fi, heart-grabbing rock ‘n’ roll” exclaims Q Magazine. NME raves that the record is a mix of “pop-punk, chillwave and classic good-time pop'n'roll.” The Fly explains that the bands “glimmering, lo-fi punk-pop laced with dreamy summertime hamonise,” will solidify that, “The Vaccines are the band to watch in 2011!”
This summer The Vaccines will make their way back to the states for a full U.S. tour.
The band was also invited to play with rock luminaries Arcade Fire and Arctic Monkeys this summer. The band will support each act at Hype Park and Don Valley Stadium this summer.
The Vaccines are Justin Young (vocals/guitar), Arni Arnason (bass), Freddie Cowan (guitar/vocals) and Pete Robertson (drums).
