The Extraordinary Ordinary Life of JoséGonzález, a documentary about Junip’s singer/guitarist, made it’s US debut premiering at Noise Pop San Francisco on the opening night of their film festival, February 23rd. The 74-minute film directed by Mikel Cee Karisson and Fredrik Egerstrand follows González on tour, in the studio, and at home, providing an extremely intimate portrait of the artist and his thought process.
Junip is Gothenburg, Sweden-based rock trio consisting of Elias Araya (drums), José González (guitar, vocals), and Tobias Winterkorn (organ, moog). The band’s debut record FIELDS was released on September 14th featuring the first single “Always”. FIELDS was chosen by New York Daily News as the #1 album of 2010 saying “Hands-down sexiest music of the year.” Los Angeles Times also placed FIELDS on their end of the year list, proclaiming “Each song on "Fields" gets a running start and then, like a hang glider reaching the edge of a cliff, takes to the air and floats on the wings of harmonious momentum.”
