Paper and Plastick's Recording Artist DAVE HAUSE New Record And Tour Announcement

Paper and Plastick are proud to announce the solo debut record from DAVE HAUSE, Resolutions.
Buy it today worldwide through iTunes, or through Paper + Plastick Records and receive an instant digital download:

In support of Resolutions, Dave Hause also recently announced a tour with Grey Kingdom through Canada and the US, wrapping with a handful of showcases at SXSW (see all tour dates below).
Best known as the vocalist/guitarist of Philadelphia’s beloved punks The Loved Ones, Dave Hause combined the catchiness of his previous work with his love of singer/songwriters. The resulting Resolutions is a rock album with no genre restrictions and limitations, that features diverse songs as the uplifting “C’Mon Kid,” the polka-inspired “Prague (Revive Me),” the somber “Heavy Heart,” and the romping title track “Resolutions.” Of the album, Hause comments “I feel like these are the best songs I’ve written to date.”
Hause recorded the album with the help from some friends, collectively known as the Empty Bottles Band, and incorporated traditional rock instruments along with the organ, pedal steel and mandolin. The sound is far from Hause’s work with The Loved Ones, setting him free from the “punk turned solo artist” moniker. “The songs I was writing at the time didn't really fit [The Loved Ones style] and seemed to be pulling in a different direction, so I figured I would see that through,” said Hause.
“When songs happen quickly and easily you just kind of have to ride the wave, and before I knew it I had a record's worth of good tunes that don't fully fit the Loved Ones paradigm. I think fans of my songwriting will definitely get what’s going on and will be happy to hear it.”
Don’t miss your chance to see Dave Hause live and hear the songs from his new release Resolutions !

The Great White NO(FX)rth Tour !

There’s been one constant in NOFX’s twenty-eight year career, it’s been their quest to innovate, whether that means writing the world’s most epic punk song (“The Decline”), playing shows in some of the most dangerous locales in the world (as evidenced in their Fuse TV series Backstage Passport) or tackling subject matter that will make you laugh, cry and critically think—often within the confines of the same song.
NOFX are very excited to announce their first cross Canada tour since 1994.
The tour kicks off in St. Johns, Newfoundland bringing the band the farther east in North America than they have ever been.
The Great White NO(FX)rth Tour will also feature two Fat Wreck Chords favorites : Teenage Bottlerocket and Old Man Markley.
For the cities in which NOFX are playing two nights: know that no two NOFX shows are the same. Expect different sets each night! And all NOFX shows are unforgettable no matter how hard you try to block them out!
NOFX will be releasing a hardcore covers record coming out on Fat Wreck Chords this summer !

Johan Agebjörn (Sally Shapiro) & Le Prix 'Watch the World Go By'

Swedish DJ and Producer Johan Agebjörn (Sally Shapiro) has announced the forthcoming release of his single, "Watch the World Go By", collaborating with Swedish producer Le Prix and Srv.ce darlings Lake Heartbeat, with remixes from Skatebård and Teen Daze and a B-side featuring Yota called "Don't Wait."
Channeling Pet Shop Boys, among others, the single will be released on April 12 through Paper Bag Records, with Agebjörn's first full-length pop disco album to follow, Casablanca Nights. Watch the World Go By is pop ecstasy in its purest form. The Teen Daze remix reveals sultry harmonies and twinkling keyboards while the Skatebård remix is laced with pulsating disco.
Agebjörn is best known as the songwriter and producer for Sally Shapiro who Pitchfork refers to as "Sweden's disco princess... on her continuing mission to bring starry-eyed synth-pop throughout the galaxy." Creating an intoxicating version of electro-pop, together they had a breakthrough with Disco Romance (Paper Bag 2007), a nostalgic trip back to romantic italo disco of 1984.

Stay tuned for more information on the upcoming Casablanca Nights!

Man The Change Kickstart Weather The Storm

Brooklyn, NY punk-rockers Man The Change are excited to announce their newest release, Weather The Storm, is now up for free download at their Bandcamp page. In conjunction, Man The Change have also started a Kickstarter project to fuel the pre-order for the Weather The Storm vinyl LP. For a cool $10 you can pre-order the record and help the band reach their goal.

You can listen to "Rambo Vs Bas Rutten (1v1)" from Weather The Storm (mp3)

Crisscrossing through multiple layers of the punk genre like a couple of girls playing double-dutch, Brooklynites Man the Change tackle their first full-length Weather The Storm with an energy that only exists in bands that truly love what they’re doing. Hooky and riff ridden, Man the Change encompasses the melodic qualities of pop-punk while pairing them with nitty-gritty vocals that growl and grind their way through every verse. A more poppy pick up from the band’s two previous EP’s, Weather The Storm is an impressive leap into mature songwriting. Hooky melodies that occasionally delve into the bop of skate rock may be the added enrichment to this new release, but the band still stands by their meat and potatoes with the gruff vocals and aggressive percussion delivered in these eight tracks.
Weather The Storm is a taste of the other side for listeners; hardcore kids can wean themselves off aggression and into melody, while the more poppy at heart can test the waters of something a little heavier. Whatever your poison, chances are Man the Change will hit the spot.

ComeandLive! will be releasing the highly anticipated full length record Reconciler. Refiner. Igniter. from Portland based melodic hardcore act FALLSTAR on March 29th, 2011. The band has been through its share of ups and downs and can attest to the fact that their patience has paid off in a big way. "It was one of the most taxing and emotional processes we've ever been through," says vocalist Chris Ratzlaff. "Knowing that people will hear it now just seems surreal. It was a real fight." The future of FALLSTAR is bright and with the impending release of the record and subsequent extensive touring, there is no doubt that the long wait was well worth it. Choosing to partner with the powerhouse community of musicians, ComeandLive!, FALLSTAR has opted to release the record as a free gift to their fans via The record is an eclectic blend of various influences and inspiration, marrying the heavier aspects of the genre with a catchy soaring clean vocal which is filled with a passionate desperation that instinctively puts a smile on the listener's face. This is not your typical hardcore album.

Celebrated folk/punk hero and recent nominee for NME’s Best Solo Artist award, Frank Turner is set to release his highly anticipated fourth album entitled England Keep My Bones this coming June 7th via Epitaph Records.
Recorded within the stunning confines of Church Studios at Crouch End, Frank, along with his band and producer Tristan Ivemy, has created an album steeped in the heart and soul of England. The record has a touching undercurrent of yearning, playing like a heartfelt homage to Turner’s homeland, friends and family which he so often has to leave as he travels the world with his guitar.
With an acoustic guitar very much at its core, the album is noticeably more folky than the proceeding Poetry Of The Deed, and even features a traditional English style a cappella. With contributions from ex-Hold Steady keyboardist Franz Nicolay, folk singers Emily Barker and Chris T-T, and Unbelievable Truth’s Andy Yorke, the songs address themes of mortality, relationships and religion in what proves to be an undeniably brave and beautiful album.
"I can't wait to get this record out there,” Frank explains. “The new songs have been going down really well live, but I think that when people hear the studio versions they're going to go nuts. I really think it's the strongest set of material I've had on one record."
Frank Turner will be showcasing songs from England Keep My Bones as he takes to the road for a special solo tour in April. Playing intimate venues up and down the country, it will be an ideal chance to see Frank Turner up close and personal before he spends the summer stirring vast crowds at festival throughout the world.

Frank Turner Tour Dates:
April 26 El Mocambo Toronto, ON
April 28 Knitting Factory Brooklyn, NY
April 29 Red Palace Washington, DC
May 2 Beat Kitchen Chicago, IL
May 4 Bottom of the Hill San Francisco, CA
May 5 Hotel Cafe Los Angeles, CA

Sometimes a chance meeting is more than it seems – in the case of DRIVE A, a random moment ignited a fuse resulting in an incendiary new band. Songs about rebellion, lethal guitars and killer hooks have their foundation in old school punk and rock n’ roll that the band reveres but their stage presence and delivery puts them firmly in the now. With a fan following that is expanding exponentially, it’s clear that the band is onto something. DRIVE A come roaring into 2011 with their brand new album, The World in Shambles, out on Dead Conflict Records and a support slot on the House of Blues Revolt Tour 2011 with Hollywood Undead, 10 Years and New Medicine. The tour kicks off April 6th in Boston and runs through May 27th, covering the United States.
"We are excited to be a part of the inaugural run of the REVOLT! Tour," says frontman Bruno Mascolo. “We look forward to sharing the stage with Hollywood Undead, 10 Years, and New Medicine. It’s going to be a great tour.” DRIVE A are celebrating the tour and new album by offering a free download of “Revolt!” from The World In Shambles. Fans can purchase tickets, get the free download and view the video for “Revolt!” here:
The World in Shambles is the follow up to their debut album Loss of Desire (2009). The critically acclaimed album which featured singles “Are You Blind” and “Can’t Sleep It Off” set the precedent for DRIVE A’s form of high energy rock n’ roll and provided the soundtrack for their energetic live show. Mascolo explains “although we’re still proud of Loss of Desire, we feel we’ve come a long way as musicians and songwriters, you can hear that we’ve played about 200 shows since our last record.” The band freely admits that their singular mission upon entering the studio was to craft an album that bottled their firecracker live energy and onstage prowess. They collectively rejected polished, computerized techniques and technologies in favor of beautiful, genuine imperfections, all of which serve to make The World in Shambles that much more authentic.
The California quartet formed after singer/guitarist Bruno Mascolo and guitarist Jason Nott ran into each other one night outside of Hollywood's Troubadour in 2006. After realizing they both possessed the drive and passion to start their own band, they recruited drummer Cody Root via a mutual friend. Bassist Taylor Knowles joined the band after seeing them open for Set Your Goals in Orlando. He became a fan based on their live performance and when the bass player position opened, he got in touch through the wonders of social networking and secured his slot in the rhythm section.
DRIVE A has steadily built a following of fans by touring with the likes of Alkaline Trio, The Used, Atreyu, Bullet For My Valentine and Escape the Fate over the past two years. It's the band's onstage power that has attracted an alliance of kids that continue to multiply with every tour. Nott summed up the band's relationship with their fans and the crowds, saying, "We're a breath of fresh air for them. We're only a couple years older than the kids listening and they can relate."
A switchblade to the soft, white underbelly of today's watered-down state of music, DRIVE A are pure, raw energy--on stage and in the studio--which is, after all, what Rock 'N' Roll has always been about. The release of their sophomore album and the House of Blues Revolt Tour 2011 are a match made in heaven. “Touring is the life’s blood of this band,” says Bruno. “Recording and everything else is cool, but we are a live band and that is the best way to experience DRIVE A.”

Swedish band Movits! to release sophomore album on April 5th

Out of my head, the sophomore release from Swedish sensation Movits! will be released April 5 on Slimstyle Records and distributed by The Alternative Distribution Alliance. The album is riding on a wave of breakout years for the trio, whose debut album, Appelknyckarjazz, was released in 2008. In July 2009, after discovering their video on, Stephen Colbert personally invited the band to make their U.S. debut on his show. Subsequently, the trio reached #2 on the iTunes Hip Hop chart with their hit song “Fel Del Av Garden.”
Following “The Colbert Report” performance, the band embarked on a five-week nationwide tour of the U.S. Of their live shows and debut album the Chicago Sun Times asserts, “…the swinging beats are universal,” while Creative Loafing describes them as a “…stylish hybrid of swing, jazz and hip-hop. It’s a cultural experience to witness the fast-paced flow of three Swedes in tuxedos rapping in their native tongue…”
Hailing from Luleå, Sweden—500 miles north of Stockholm, just south of the Arctic Circle, and at a latitude higher than that of Fairbanks, Alaska—brothers Johan and Anders Rensfeldt, along with friend Joakim Nilsson, were longtime fans and performers of hip hop. But it wasn’t until a music festival after-party that they really discovered swing music. “It was a simultaneous revelation. We were out dancing in a backyard when someone put on Benny Goodman’s ‘Sing, Sing, Sing.’ The three of us were totally blown away!”
The new record was recorded live over a four month period in the winter of 2010 at their studio in Luleå. Of the new album, the trio notes, “We didn’t have a set theme in making Out Of My Head. All we knew was that we wanted to make tracks you won’t be able to stand still when hearing.”

Back to the Futurecop! : Remix Contest

Futurecop!, the 80’s inspired electro pop duo are sourcing fans to contribute a remix for the single Starworshipper, to be included on their eponymous EP due out on March 29th. The contest is live on the Futurecop! Soundcloud page until March 15th, when a winner will be picked.
Futurecop! is the brainchild of British 20 something’s Manzur Iqbal and Peter Carrol. The two lads met at University and bonded over a shared love of 80’s pop culture. Together they decided to embark on a quest to create electro feel good music that would inspire even the most cynical of super villains, such as the Skeletor’s and Splinter’s of the world, to hit the dance floor.
Driven by dream like synths, Ninja Turtles, Thunder Cats, and feel good beats straight out of a John Hughes movie, the Starworshipper EP is comprised of fun groove inducing tracks each which features a female vocalist. These retro-electro jams are meant to be blasted out of your Delorean stereo at 1.21 Jiggawatts. Futurecop! will be touring the U.S. in April in support of the release, tour dates to be announced soon.

the Definitive are a diverse, punk-inspired, heavy indie / rock, British 2-piece project that incorporate elements of electronic and dance influenced music into their sound. The project consists of 2 close friends who grew up together and have spent valuable time honing their craft on the sacred ground of the North West of England, an area that has given birth to the likes of The Smiths, Joy Division, Buzzcocks, The Stone Roses, Oasis, Doves, etc.
Now having soaked up those influences and re-located to Los Angeles to write and record their debut, the duo along with a full live band plan to hit the road in the US and release their already completed Trever Keith - produced full length this summer. Keith, the front man for punk icons Face to Face, produced and sings on the duo’s amazing first single ‘The Start’ which can be heard here:

Tiny Engines To Release Cattle Drums Digital EP

Tiny Engines (Tigers Jaw, CSTVT, Look Mexico) is excited to announce the digital release of The Boy Kisser Sessions + 3, the debut EP from Oneonta, N.Y. band Cattle Drums. For a limited time you can download all 8 songs for only $4 at Tiny Engines' Bandcamp page. You can also grab this awesome record via iTunes.
To celebrate today's release, RCRD LBL is debuting the track "Who Punched Pat Moore's Face" today. You can go here for a free download of the song. Additionally you can snag an mp3 for "Sluts And Coconuts" here.
Also, make sure to check out an amazing video of Cattle Drums performing the song "Two Pigeons" on a rooftop in its hometown. You can watch that here.
Remember when indie music was wild and unpredictable? Remember when bands were hard to pigeonhole into tidy little sub-genres? Well, Cattle Drums will remind you if you have forgotten. Mixing post-punk, emo, hardcore, shards of math rock and even traces of dark Americana, this upstate NY five piece distinguishes itself as a purveyor of a sound not yet recognizable to our pampered, innocent ears. Lyrically ambiguous and instrumentally ambitious with harsh, aggressive tones, Cattle Drums is a wild awakening for the senses.
The Boy Kisser Sessions + 3 is an eight song collection that puts together the band's original self-released debut with 3 newer tracks that were recorded near the end of 2010. These songs truly defy classification and urge listeners to create their own unique interpretation of the Cattle Drums sound. Need a shock to the system to break away from the mundane of the daily grind? Delve into the madness of the Cattle Drums experience and witness a band operating only by its keen sense of artistic expression. Eccentric and chaotic, yet always melodic and intoxicating, Cattle Drums is kicking up dust and noise unlike anybody else right now. Just imagine what's yet to come.
Cattle Drums will be heading into the studio to record its debut LP in May/June, followed by a Summer of touring and a tentative Fall release date for the LP on Tiny Engines.

The Swallows set to release fourth long-player Demystified.

Blue Rodeo drummer Glenn Milchem will see his band The Swallows release their fourth album Demystified on March 1st. The band will be celebrating the release with an album launch at Toronto's The Piston on March 3rd. Download "Shoot Out Sparks" here.
In truth, Milchem intended to make a sonically diverse, acoustic-based record when he first conceived of Demystified. Having collaborated with artists ranging from Change of Heart, Andrew Cash, and Holy Fuck, Milchem clearly has an eclectic array of musical interests and, as such, he needs an outlet to express them. So, when he gets the inkling to record his own songs, he usually does some multi-tracking and plays every instrument himself (including a yali tambur, a Turkish bowed instrument, featured on “The Day is Upon Us”).
That’s pretty much what happened with Demystified at first, but as the sessions at Twang Recordings with co-producer Carl Petzelt progressed, it got rockier and rockier and musicians like John Borra (bass), Andrew Innanen (drums, since replaced in the live band by Brad Kilpatrick), Jonny James (guitar, since replaced in the live band by Dean Drouillard), Michael Boguski (keyboards), and special guests Bob Packwood and Julie Fader were called in to bolster a couple of songs. Otherwise, all Milchem, all the time.
Milchem sees Demystified, as his most multi layered record yet, both musically and philosophically. He can write an uncharacteristic love tune to his wife (“Shoot Out Sparks”), as easily as he can reconsider his perspective on war after Blue Rodeo performed for the troops in Afghanistan (“Outside the Wire”). Yet he does it all really artfully and deceptively, like only the best pop song writers really can. The Swallows may only appear sporadically but, as Demystified demonstrates, when they do, they’re here to leave a definitive mark.

Penguins Kill Polar Bears Release "Wish With Worry" From Upcoming Vessels & Veins EP

Gearing up for the N. American release of their sophomore EP Vessels & Veins March 22, Penguins Kill Polar Bears have released the epic new track "Wish With Worry." This, the second single from the record, comes on the heals of the EP's release in their homeland UK on February 21 and is perhaps the perfect example of their pop infused post-rock sound.

2. Wish With Worry

4. In Everything
5. Homebound
6. Something Old

Penguins Kill Polar Bears' Sophomore EP is not just the next step in the career of Penguins Kill Polar Bears, it's a giant leap. Vessels & Veins marks the first N. American release for these Scottish Lads, announcing their signing to United States'-based Dromedary Records earlier this month.
Vessels & Veins shows a focused quartet, unassuming of what post-rock has to be. Its six sweeping compositions are guided by a youthful approach at songwriting, atmospheric yet hook-laden. Don't let the title fool you either - this album has much more than just vessels and veins. It also has heart, soul and legs to take them to next chapter of their career. If Europe's reaction holds any sway, this first true introduction of the act to North America should be welcome with open arms.

The guys are also about to hit the road in the U.K. starting Thursday.

BIO: Vessels & Veins is the second EP from Scottish post-rock monsters Penguins Kill Polar Bears. The band, formed in the winter of 2008, are Ben Proudlock (guitars, vocals), Fraser Sanaghan (guitars), Gavin Cormack (bass), and Kieran McGuickan (drums).

The EP is a sweeping masterpiece, showcasing a band that are as comfortable with experimentation as they are with tried and true rock formulas. Each track explodes into action, with sheets of reverb-laden guitars, layered over the top of throbbing percussion, and offset by Ben’s raw vocals. It’s no surprise that Aereogramme are listed as one of their major influences.
Following the release of their critically acclaimed debut EP Dawn in June 2010, the band have been busy building their profile in their home country, supporting the likes of Twin Atlantic, The Xcerts and Nine Black Alps. They’ve also sold out various headline gigs and are, in their own right, a band not to be missed. In fact, Scottish music blog Sound Surrounds recently named PKPB a Best Live Band, calling the band “explosive and a pleasure to the senses.”
One of Scotland’s most exciting young bands, Penguins Kill Polar Bears have paired up with Dromedary to release Vessels & Veins in North America as an intro to this great band. Featuring four brand-new tracks plus two remixed tracks from Dawn, the US version of the EP will be available in March of 2011 on CD and digital download.

Hailing from Dublin, Ireland, Kopek will release their debut album, White Collar Lies on March 29 on Religion Music, distributed by Sony Music. The band: Shane Cooney (drums), Brad Kinsella (bass) and Daniel Jordan (vocals), are currently on the road with Hinder, Saving Abel and My Darkest Days, for their first US tour.
The first single “Cocaine Chest Pains” was shipped to Rock radio last week and has currently achieved feature play across the country.
Kopek’s track “Love is Dead,” also on the album, was featured in the SAW 3D movie and soundtrack.

With production from Glenn Herlihy of Religion Music, mastermind mixer and Grammy winner Tom Lord-Alge and multi-Grammy mastering guru Ted Jensen, White Collar Lies is a refreshing dose of genuine, raw and emotional rock.

The ACBs - "Boy Like Me"

The ACBs have the ability to seemingly summon huge hooks from the thin air on their latest album, Stona Rosa, which has been on my top ten list since I learned about the guys. These Kansas City natives craft songs that make me think, "they sure don't write songs like this anymore."

Tin Horn Prayer - On Tour

Beginning this Thursday (Feb 24) Tin Horn Prayer will embark on ten-day tour of the West Coast and Southwest in support of its new full-length, Get Busy Dying.
Featuring ex-members of The Blackout Pact, Only Thunder, Ghost Buffalo, Love Me Destroyer and Pinhead Circus, the Denver, CO band's debut effort is now available on both vinyl and digital formats from Bermuda Mohawk Productions. The recently released LP version of the record - which features sweet black-on-black UV jackets - can be purchased from the label here or you can grab a copy from the band on tour.
The concept of combining the gruffness and intensity of punk with Americana and frontier-based folk has been toyed with for many years within the indie rock scene, but very few have blended the two sounds as well as Tin Horn Prayer. Soulful and chalk-full of whiskey-soaked narratives, Get Busy Dying carves out ten unique cuts that nod toward Lucero, Tom Waits and Murder By Death, but also stay true to the band members' post-punk roots. If you've ever wondered what it would sound like if the Lawrence Arms and Uncle Tupelo got into a bar fight, look no further than this amazing record. Get Busy Dying is as much a dark, deeply personal affair as it is a rowdy, undeniably fun time.
Get Busy Dying is currently streaming in its entirety at and Bandcamp. You can also download a free mp3 for the song "1939" here. While you're at it, check out this great interview (also featuring an album stream) with band member Andy Thomas at AMP Magazine.
Additionally, Bermuda Mohawk recently celebrated its 50th release with a free digital comp featuring 27 songs from Cheap Girls, One Win Choice, imadethismistake, Carpenter and Mixtapes amongst others. Tin Horn Prayer kicks off the sampler with the track "Better Living." Download all the goodness here.
Finally, it's worth noting that Tin Horn Prayer just finished recording four new songs at Black In Bluhm Music with Chris Fogal of The Gamits. Fogal also recorded and produced Get Busy Dying. More details regarding the fate of those tracks soon!

Charge of the Light Brigade Release 'The Defiant Ones'‏

Sometimes albums are so aptly titled that the record takes on a life of its own while at the same time strictly adhering to the title itself. The Defiant Ones is one of those titles and in turn, one of those albums with a fierce, dedicated aesthetic.
The debut full-length from Charge of the Light Brigade is a comprehensive listen that combines intense, punk-influenced melodies with an expansive and at times untouchable groove. It possesses an irresistible pop sensibility yet still there are no tracks that pander; instead, this collection of thirteen tracks has a vision that will leave listeners helpless.
Guitarist/songwriter Luke Sneyd has long been a fixture on the Toronto scene, originally as the guitarist for electro-rock act Mountain Mama. Two solo releases included an early demo of his track ‘The Prisoner’ that was a finalist in the Unisong International Songwriting Contest, and the video won him a Top 5 spot in the Great Canadian Band Challenge, competing for a deal with Universal Canada. And now, with new songs and new collaborators, The Defiant Ones is an honest and earnest culmination of five years of work.
Strong themes of doomed heroism and the terminal tick of relationships gone awry abound here. They’re heard in the resilient sprawl of ‘Fastest of The Losers’, the furious early 90’s punk stomp of ‘Charge!!’ and finally, a moody but ultimately fulfilling cover of ‘Atlantic City,’ which serves as the album’s closer. Each track drives its way into your subconscious with alarming and altogether defiant grace. It’s an honest approach that fuels the entire record. Candid emotions are channeled into tracks like ‘The Visible Man’, which features a bruising post-punk feel. And ‘The Real Heart’ swells beyond expectations.
The vision of Charge of the Light Brigade is certainly a focused one. Even the most defiant of listeners will agree; with The Defiant Ones, this is a band that certainly cannot be stopped.
Charge of the Light Brigade is a collaboration between songwriter Luke Sneyd and producer Marc Koecher, with bassist Jason Eagan (Clockwise, Ryan Luchuck), and drummers Zack Mykula (Bella Clava, Inhumanoids) and Owen Tennyson (Blue Peter, Rough Trade).

Booker T. Jones' historic life in music has brought him international fame, awards (he’s a three-time Grammy winner and Rock & Roll Hall of Famer), and iconic status as one of the architects of American soul music. With his new album The Road From Memphis, due May 10 on Anti- Records, Jones traces his journey from his hometown of Memphis, TN to the world stage. The album follows Jones' 2009 Anti- release 'Potato Hole' which won the Grammy for “Best Pop Instrumental Album."
Produced by Jones with The Roots' ?uestlove and Rob Schnapf (Beck, Elliot Smith), 'Memphis' was recorded by Daptone Records mastermind Gabriel Roth with backing by The Roots. The Road from Memphis refers not only to Booker T's journey but to the evolution of the soul music he helped invent as it traveled from Memphis to Detroit, Philadelphia and beyond. The music's many iterations are represented here with a broad range of guest vocalists including Matt Berninger of the National and Sharon Jones on "Representing Memphis," Yim Yames of My Morning Jacket on "Progress" and Lou Reed on "The Bronx." The album also features a rare vocal from Jones himself offering a first-hand look at his hometown on "Down in Memphis." Legendary motor-city guitarist Dennis Coffey contributes to the album as well.

San Diego native and independent solo artist, song writer, producer and rapper, SOLOMON, releases his newest masterpiece today. Demand for the long-awaited single “Wit Us U Can’t…,” featuring lyricist Bry’Nt, has been so heavy that the track was initially leaked on the internet. Those who seek SOLOMON’S solid beats need only wait a few more months for their next fix, though – “Wit Us U Can’t…” is the first single off SOLOMON’s forthcoming EP, set to release in late Spring 2011.
SOLOMON’s “Wit Us U Can’t…”will get hips shaking and drinks flowing on its sure rise to becoming a club staple. Though it is a departure from his mix-tape recording past, this track leaves nothing untouched, with base-driven beats, distinctive sound and an energetic feel. As producer, co-producer and writer of all of his music, SOLOMON appeals to anyone and everyone without hesitation.
“The song has a lot of attitude and edge to it, to the point it seems cocky. But there is no arrogance to it. It's really a song about being able to have fun with your friends no matter where you go, who you know or how much money you have. No cool kids allowed, just us oddballs!” SOLOMON explains.
SOLOMON’s desire to make sure everyone is included extends to his music as well – he in no way can remain chained to any one genre. SOLOMON easily stays within hip-hop, electro, pop and rap categories while also managing to extend across them all. With as much international acclaim as versatility, there is no doubt that SOLOMON definitely knows how to get the crowd going, and will be doing so for years to come.

“Wit Us U Can’t…” can be purchased now at

Craig Wedren 360° Interactive Music Video (with David Wain, Conor Oberst, Janet Weiss)

Visionary composer & musician Craig Wedren (former frontman of Shudder to Think) has just unveiled a breathtaking interactive video for his new song “Are We." The video uses 360° panoramic technology, allowing you to manipulate the visually and emotionally rich world that has been created.
"Are We" was directed by OK GO video mastermind Tim Nakashi, stars Wedren and among others features performances by actors David Wain, Thomas Lennon, Ken Marino and Joe Lo Truglio (from Role Models, The State, Stella, Reno 911, Wet Hot American Summer, Party Down and more)
“Are We” is the first single and video-chapter from Craig's new album and interactive film Wand (out this May on Nerveland Recordings.) The song itself is heart-wrenchingly beautiful and features background vocals by Connor Oberst (Bright Eyes) and Janet Weiss (Sleater-Kinney)

"Are We" is available on iTunes.

We are incredibly pleased to announce the Canadian release of Feel It Break, the debut album from Toronto trio Austra, on May 17, 2011. The band has several tour dates this month and will be appearing at SXSW in March. The album will be out on Domino Records worldwide outside of Canada.
On Feel it Break, co-founder and lead singer Katie Stelmanis, drummer Maya Postepski and bassist Dorian Wolf have crafted a dark, danceable masterpiece suitable for both ritual incantations and clubs; an album hearkening back to the sleazier side of New Wave but still deeply rooted in Stelmanis’s classical and operatic upbringing.
Written primarily by Stelmanis and mixed by Damian Taylor (Bjork, The Prodigy, UNKLE), the album rests nicely with your Kate Bush and The Knife albums, but also conjures up the seedier sides of early 1980s British New Wave (think the dirty alleys and after-hours clubs dreamed up by Japan and Soft Cell.)
You can watch a video for The Beat and the Pulse HERE. (Just a heads up, despite being the clean version, it's still a tiny bit NSFW!)
Feel It Break will be available on CD, double LP, and via digital download.

It's A King Thing Kickstart Buffalo Vinyl

Over the last year, South Jersey’s It's a King Thing has matured into an indie power pop behemoth and now their latest album Buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo. is coming to vinyl, in the most awkward, fun, embarrassing way possible.
Earlier this week, the band, led by former fat kid Brian Mietz and featuring former members of the criminally underrated Up Up Down Down Left Right Left Right B A Start, launched the coolest Kickstarter project we’ve seen to date.
Since Kickstarter’s launch over a year ago, a bunch of bands have been using the online pledge system to fund their releases. It's a King Thing has put their own spin on it and the bundles they’re offering are downright ridiculous. They have the usual merch bundle, private shows and custom songs for sale but they're also throwing prank calls, homemade puppets and a trip to the Maury Povich show into the mix.
"Most music bundles we've seen on Kickstarter are too much money and are kinda boring. We thought it’d be more fun to hang out with the people that helped us fund our record pressing and have them scare the shit out of Brian than autograph their record. We're not Triple H. We don’t think anyone wants our autograph."
For $25, the band is offering Buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo. on vinyl and a 60-minute bonus CD called Stuffalo stuffalo Stuffalo stuffalo stuffalo stuffalo Stuffalo stuffalo which includes demos, covers, unreleased songs and alternate recordings. Also included in the $25 bundle is a sticker of a hot dog holding hands with a hamburger and an autographed 8x10 glossy of singer Brian Mietz's 6th grade, fat laser, class photo. For $10 more, you get all of the previously listed items and the band will prank call one of your ex-boyfriends or girlfriends and send you an mp3 of the conversation. Better than an autograph.
Some of the more expensive bundles include private, write-your-own-set list shows, taking over guitar, singing and drumming duties for a song at the next show and dinner with Brian's parents, served by Brian's cousin Stephen who appears in the band's Kickstarter promo video. Our favorite bundle is the "You Are Not the Father Bundle" which includes a trip to Connecticut to see a taping of the Maury Povich show with the band.
Since last February, Buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo. has been hosted on the band’s website as a free download. Pop Matters named it one of the “Best Free Albums of 2010”. Fans of the first two Weezer albums, The Lemonheads, Nada Surf and Guided By Voices will find this hook-filled gem enjoyable.

Winter Gloves 'Heart Out' | Paper Bag Records

Following hot-on-the-heels of their acclaimed second album All Red, Winter Gloves are forging ahead with a slew of new music released over the next month. In addition to a five-track iTunes Live Session released via the site on February 22nd, three new songs on the Heart Out EP will be released digitally on March 8th from Paper Bag Records. Winter Gloves will debut their new material live on their upcoming tour with label-mates Young Galaxy and at their showcase at Canadian Music Week (full list of dates below).
The Heart Out EP consists of three brand-new tracks recorded at the band's hometown studio in Montreal over the Christmas holidays as Winter Gloves took that time to finish ideas that were started during the recording of All Red. Born Ruffians' Luke Lalonde passed through the studio to contribute his signature vocals on the chorus of 'Paper Pile' after the bands’ successful fall tour together. Winter Gloves are currently working on a video for 'Dancing My Heart Out' that will accompany their time on the road next month.
All Red is Winter Gloves’ sophomore release on Paper Bag Records, highlighted on iTunes’ Best of 2010 list. In a return to the roots of the original EP that first introduced Winter Gloves’ poppy mix of gritty bass and synths sound, the album was produced by the band’s Charles F (lead singer, guitar, synths). The foursome is rounded out with Patrick Sayers on drums, Vincent Chalifour on bass and synths, and Nico Ormiston on guitar and bringing back the glockenspiel that was a well-mentioned highlight on their debut about a girl album.

Ocean Carolina - Leave On EP - Out Now

Brooklyn's Ocean Carolina's debut Leave On is out now on Lightyear Entertainment/EMI. The record's single, "Blue", premiered last week and is being raved as "...airtight songwriting, tasteful arrangements and a vibe that approximates Harvest Moon-period Neil Young or the Marks (Eitzel and Kozalek)." and "...a laid back, harmonica-driven tune, more pop than country due to the addition of light electronic elements, piano, and silky-smooth vocals."

To celebrate the release Ocean Carolina will perform tomorrow (2/17)
in New York City at Rockwood Music Hall Stage 2. The band is on at 9:00pm.

San Cisco

San Cisco are the latest indie act to emerge from Fremantle in sunny Western Australia. On the weekends they go skateboarding, play Nintendo 64 and make a bit of indie pop on the side. Scarlett bangs the drums, Nick plays bass and Jordi & Josh are the guys that play the guitars, write the songs and sing them.
San Cisco have spent the last year graduating high school, performing at some festivals and playing round town pretty much every weekend. But don't let their youth fool you. They have also produced their first EP called Golden Revolver, which has just hit and already found a home on Triple J and community radio around Australia. Confident with stage presence & strong with vocals San Cisco continue to impress even the hardest indie critics with their brand of upbeat summer pop.
Produced by Matthew Chequer (Little Birdy) & Steven Schram (Little Red, Cat Empire, Little Birdy), the EP is an eclectic mix of indie pop with folk undertones, slashes of synth and influences ranging from Bright Eyes to Vampire Weekend.
San Cisco performed at last years One Movement Festival which lead to an invitation to appear at the 2011 Great Escape in the UK. They also received their first airplay on London's influential taste making station, XFM.

The Waifs - New Album Temptation

"Where do we take it from here?'' sings Vikki Thorn on Day Dreamer, one of the most uplifting moments on The Waifs' extraordinary sixth album, Temptation, in store March 4th independently through Jarrah Records (the label The Waifs co-own with John Butler) and MGM Distribution.
The Waifs' trip began in a van in 1992, with the three troubadours playing gigs anywhere in Australia that would have them and has led The Waifs to multiple ARIA awards, platinum albums and successful tours across the world. The hard yards in those early days paid off in terms of their career, but also bound the three of them together as friends.
Temptation is the follow-up to 2006's Sun, Dirt, Water, which the band recorded in Nashville and which reached No.2 in the Australian album charts. That album represented a natural progression for The Waifs, one on which they expanded and experimented with their sound.
Temptation sees them stripping back, returning to their roots and playing an assortment of acoustic and electric instruments, joined once again by the established rhythm section of drummer David Ross Macdonald and bassist Ben Franz.
There's also a re-shaping of songwriting input this time. While the bulk of the material for Sun, Dirt, Water came from Cunningham, on Temptation the songs are more equally spread.
Temptation was recorded in November last year at Underwood Studios, a ramshackle old house-cum-studio in Simpson's adopted home city of St Paul, Minneapolis.
All five musos lived together for two weeks above the basement studio, cooking, reminiscing and finessing each of the songs that had been brought to the table. "You just went downstairs when it was your turn to do a take,'' says Cunningham. "It was a great atmosphere to make an album in and I think you can hear that on the recordings.''
The group forged their way on the Australian live circuit for most the 1990s, releasing albums such as their self titled debut in 1996 and Shelter Me in 1998, selling them mostly at shows. The third album, 2000's Sink or Swim, raised their profile and allowed the band to perform in Canada and the United States, attracting rave reviews in the process.
The biggest turning point came with the EP London Still (2002), which gave the band its first Australian hit. Followed in 2003 by the Lighthouse EP and the album Up All Night, which has gone double platinum in Australia and earned them four ARIA awards. That same year they toured Australia with Bob Dylan, who subsequently invited them to join him on his North American tour.
Further hits, such as Bridal Train and Stay, have followed, along with live albums, more awards and ecstatic reviews for their live performances. With a national tour under way from February 22 and the album release to follow on March 4, there is every sign that 2011 will bring them further success.
