Lawrence, Kansas legend Chris Crisci (of Appleseed Cast fame) is hitting the road with Old Canes for a two week U.S. tour heading out to the Saddle Creek CMJ showcase in New York where they'll share the stage with The Mynabirds, Adam Haworth Stephens, and Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson.
Their album, the bold and loud Saddle Creek-released Feral Harmonic, is a gem that deserves revisiting and only grows more striking over time. "Little Bird Courage," the post-able mp3 listed above, is a joyous and rolling song that combines a rummaging snare, furiously strummed guitars and a chorus of trumpets to become a song both unique within the context of modern pop music and nostalgic for the single-mindedness of the mid-90s, which tells us “here’s the big chorus, have fun.”
If you haven't had a chance to dig into Old Canes, I highly recommend spending some time with this warm and welcoming album.
