Melting Brains & Breaking Hearts Since 2003
Autumn/ Winter 2010 Collection

Since Disturbia Clothing was founded in 2003, it has grown into a behemoth of alternative fashion. Worn by the likes of Guns N Roses’ axeman Slash as well as Liam Howlett of The Prodigy, it now proudly supplies over 150 stores across Europe with its bold ‘re-evaluations of the everyday world’. The art of Disturbia is inspired by a love of subverting pop culture imagery, with an underlying dark sense of humour, and a quintessentially British punk DIY ethic.
Created by fashion graduate Frank Major, as an outlet for his anarchic musings, the art of Disturbia is inspired by a love of subverting pop culture imagery coupled with fitting wordplay, and an underlying dark sense of humour. Initially creating all the designs himself, of late Disturbia has painstakingly sought out the best alternative artists to give each collection a mutli-faceted appeal. Last year Frank also designed 3 exclusive limited edition t shirts for The Prodigy which sold out within a matter of days.
With the brand new Autumn/ Winter 2010 range, Disturbia continues to create the freshest attention demanding graphics. This season is a true-to-form NSFW selection of kickass artwork with highlights that include 80’s nostalgia, Mayan gore, sultry sirens, Zoltar The Magnificent, monstrous Cthulhu, Japanese dragons, a myxomatosis rabbit on acid...plus much more.

FREE MP3: Estate Releases First Single From EP, "Nuclear City"

Estate's new EP Nuclear City was released August 16th on U.K.-based Mullet Records. In lieu of this, Estate and Mullet Records proud to release the first single, fittingly titled "Nuclear City." The EP is the perfect introduction into the duo's web of electronic pop music, which was co-produced with Gigamesh.
Nuclear City's six songs display the outfit's production talent, mixing an 80's throwback tone with modern technique and perspective. Being relaxing yet energetic, "Nuclear City" helps set the tone of the record. The EP is a sountrack to the end of summer, as well as an introduction to fall. It is easy to get lost in its soundscapes, or maybe just as easy to want to get up and dance.

A video is currently also in the works, ready to hit the web in the coming weeks.

If you're ready to put on your dancing shoes, head over here:

The EP is available for purchase on I-Tunes here:

Stay tuned for more news from Estate, including the video and a second single in the coming weeks. Nuclear City is available now!

A Wilhelm Scream On Tour In Canada !

As a band playing punk rock for over a decade, original members Trevor Reilly, Nuno Pereira and Nick Angelini haven’t focused on success, image or whatever bandwagon a group can jump on to get their music into the ears of listeners: It’s the ideal of music from an honest place, playing to the kids who want to hear more than a simple love song, or want an opinion rammed down their throats.
Within this ongoing endeavor, A Wilhelm Scream has recruited the talents of Brian Robinson (bass) and Mike Supina (guitar); Two Great-Lakers who have strived to help develop the band into the most musically-diverse lineup they’ve had to date, touring all over the World in over 20 countries from Russia to Tasmania in support of their 2007 release “Career Suicide” (NitroRecords).
Hailed by Alternative Press as the heirs to the skate-punk throne, A Wilhelm Scream cannot truly be lumped in with any of those bands. Their music is progressive, thrashy and melodic and cannot be confined to any single genre. The band recorded/produced a self-titled EP for budding digital and vinyl label Paper + Plastick. T
The decision to record the EP themselves came as a sort of revelation to the band. They worked really hard on it to reach their own standards and with the hopes that their fans would respond well and come out to the shows The 5 song EP was mixed by Matt Bayles at Red Room Recording (Polar Bear Club, Minus the Bear, Mastodon) in Seattle. It was released earlier this year by Paper + Plastick and features artwork by Derek Deal. As the band hoped the fans have responded very well and the party at their live shows continues to grow
A Wilhelm Scream loves Canada and love touring here so don’t miss your chance to see them live and give them some love back !

The Flatliners On Tour In Canada this Septemeber !

Punk rock used to be about haggard road warriors. Before all the breakdowns and flat irons, there were busted transmissions and collect calls home. The Flatliners grew up believing in the later and rejecting the former, and after seven years playing together, they’re unleashing Cavalcade, their third full-length record and an epic sonic testament to the life they’ve chosen. Cavalcade hits the streets April 13th!
Over the last four years, The Flatliners have spent almost thirty months in vans, dive bars, and concert halls across North America, Europe, and Japan, building up a dedicated following with a sound that mixes the endless fury of ‘90s skate punk with the nuanced, intelligent songwriting of classic post-punks like the Replacements and Hot Water Music. After releasing the ska-punk tinged Destroy to Create (Union Label Group) in 2005, the band evolved into a harsh melodic machine with 2007’s The Great Awake (Fat Wreck Chords), completing their transition into a vital modern punk unit with the Cynics 7” (Fat Wreck Chords) in late 2009.
For Cavalcade, The Flatliners once again teamed up with long-time producer and friend Steve Rizun, recording sporadically between tours in their hometown of Toronto over the course of 2009. Seeking to immortalize the last year of their lives on the road, the end result is easily the band’s finest hour; from the thrashy immediacy of “The Calming Collection” to the dub-influenced “He Was A Jazzman”, it’s the sound of a band hitting their stride musically and finding their voice lyrically, exploring the idea of unity through disconnectedness, of positivity in uncertain times. Driving home the theme are the numerous guest appearances on the record: members of Cancer Bats, A Wilhelm Scream, Dillinger Four, The Snips, Junior Battles, Permanent Bastards, and the Expos all contributed to Cavalcade. Add to that the presence of veteran punk Fat Mike, who flew up to jam with the band in November of 2009, earning an additional production credit and making one of the band’s childhood dreams come true.
They’ve grown up on record and in front of a crowd of like-minded punks. They’ve made sacrifices to keep the wheels of their van on the road, and Cavalcade is the reward. It really is, as the band says, “a call to arms to all who travel throughout the world on the wings of their creativity.”
The Flatliners new video for their first single “Carry The Banner” has received a very positive response and is currently in rotation on MuchLoud
Look out for more dates, a new video and a 7” before the end of the year !

Jello Biafra And The Guantanamo School Of Medicine In Canada !

In the twenty or so years since his brainchild Dead Kennedys officially disbanded, Jello Biafra has made a career of spoken word gigs interspersed with musical collaborations with some of the most compelling figures in underground music. Recording projects and touring with the likes of Melvins, No Means No, DOA, Mojo Nixon and Lard (with Ministry's Al Jorgensen) among others have kept his "hardcore as political weapon" message sharp, but the lack of his own band made these collaborations usually short-lived and left Biafra with a ton of songs that had never seen the light of day.
Inspired by Iggy Pop's 60th birthday gig at the Warfield in San Francisco, Biafra laid plans for his own 50th birthday party and finally decided it was time to start a band of his own. Ten years before he had been attempting the same thing with the likes of guitarist Ralph Spight (Victims Family, Freak Accident, Hellworms) and drummer Jon Weiss (Sharkbait, Horsey). They had also previously worked with basist Billy Gould (Faith No More) who was tapped for the new group. After cramming rehearsal for a month the four piece band known as Jello Biafra and the Axis Of Merry Evildoers took the stage in a sold-out two night stand at San Francisco's Great American Music Hall and subsequently spent the next 9 months in rehearsal for an album project. Before entering the studio guitarist Kimo Ball (Freak Accident, Carneyball Johnson, Mol Triffid, Griddle) was recruited and the resulting twin guitar attack took the groups sound to new, noisier heights. The quintet now known as Jello Biafra and The Guantanamo School of Medicine released their debut LP/CD "The Audacity Of Hype" in October 2009, produced by Biafra and engineered by Hip Hop legend and long time Jello co-conspirator Matt Kelley (Hieroglyphics, Tupac, Digital Underground, Victims Family) at Prairie Sun Recording in Cotati, CA and San Francisco's Hyde Street Studios.
The band's sound retains some of the the spy-music-on-meth chaos of the DK's while adding a healthy dose of Detroit style proto-punk mixed with layers of sonic guitar noise, and Weiss' industrial excursions into metal percussion. Topically, the album explores how our forced Iraqnophobia and Homeland Insecurity continues to feed lawlessness at the top ("The Terror Of Tiny Town") vs. a runaway police state and class war towards the bottom ("Three Strikes", "Electronic Plantation"). "Clean As A Thistle" becomes more timely every day as "Family Values" blowhards get caught in sinful trysts, while album closer "I Won't Give Up" offers an age of Obama anthem on how change comes from agitation from below, not glamour and sound bites from the top
Thirty years on, Jello Biafra has made an album that solidifies and expands his uncompromising vision and updates it for the new century, with a powerhouse band that promises to be a terrifying live machine, featuring Jon's brother Andrew Weiss (Rollins Band, Ween, Butthole Surfers) filling the live bass position recently left vacant by Billy Gould's return to Faith No More.

Don’t miss you chance to see Jello Biafra And The Guantanamo School Of Medicine at one of these very special Canadian appearances !

Swingin' Utters On Tour In Canada !

San Francisco’s venerable punk legends, the Swingin’ Utters, are back with the release of their first brand new material in 7 years. Brand New Lungs boasts 3 songs, 2 of which will be featured on their much anticipated upcoming full-length Here, Under Protest. Where other bands have made a mockery of street punk with their corny gimmicks and posturing, the Utters deliver music brimming with the passion and desperation the genre is known for.
It all started for the Swingin’ Utters back in 1995 with their first full length The Streets of San Francisco, which was released to critical acclaim. As a result, the band received two Bammy’s (Bay Area Music Awards), one of which for best debut album. Their success caught the attention of many others as they were then invited to join the first Warped Tour and later went on to tour with fellow Bay Area punkers, Rancid.
A long time stalwart of the street punk genre, the Swingin’ Utters have amassed an impressive discography since their first release in 1992. Consisting of 8 full-lengths, a B-Sides and countless EP’s, singles, and splits, their catalog is a testament to the prolific songwriting abilities of Darius Koski and Johnny Bonnel. Brand New Lungs marks the first release of new material by venerable street punk legends Swingin’ Utters in 7 years. With a new full-length already recorded and due out in the fall, the band decided to whet the appetite of fans by releasing a 7” containing some of the new material. Brand New Lungs features 3 brand new songs, two of which will appear on the Swingin’ Utters upcoming full-length and one that is exclusive to this release. All three tracks exude the trademark sound that the Swingin’ Utters have made famous and will have their fans clamoring for more.

Strung Out On Tour In Canada !

Strung Out’s latest album, Agents Of The Underground, is not only their 7th full length, but it also marks the band’s 20th anniversary and is a true testament to their relevance and longevity. Think about it: two decades. Two decades in the underground with thousands of live shows, tours on five (5!) different continents, over a million records sold… and they’ve managed to do it all while on an independent record label. More striking than their massive sales, which is a notable for any artist in this day and age, but the fact that the band that has never had help from “the industry”. They may not have household name status, but they do have a colossal worldwide following and a loyal fan base that has been with them since the very start. Such is Strung Out’s true legacy: devotion to the music, devotion to the band, and devotion to the fans.
But even years after they first made their mark, people in the punk, metal, and hardcore scene are still paying attention to what Strung Out is doing with their music. Never one to rest on their laurels, the real question with Strung Out is always this: what’s next? For them it means moving things forward and taking their live show on the road. They push themselves to the limit when it comes to both songwriting and touring, so you can expect to see these guys everywhere, playing their guts out in support of the new record, Agents Of The Underground.

Subhumans on tour in Canada !

Legendary Canadian punk group Subhumans emerged in 1978 ,their first album “Incorrect Thoughts” was released on Vancouver label Friends Records in 1980. They always planned to make their older material available again, but a now defunct San Francisco label had issued an unauthorized version of “Incorrect Thoughts” in the ‘80s which substituted some remixes without the band's knowledge, included tracks which hadn't made the cut for the original album, and changed the cover art. It was an unpleasant mystery for the band and three decades later the former owner of that label was asserting ownership over the original album, preventing its re-release without an expensive and contentious legal tussle.
The Subhumans decided to meet the challenge to their ownership of their own material by rerecording all of the songs from the “Incorrect Thoughts” album, which they proceeded to do at the Hive Studios in Vancouver, assisted by Jesse Gander.
The intent was neither to slavishly recreate the old recordings nor to radically reinterpret the songs, but updating the sounds and the recording techniques while maintaining the original spirit of the album. As a bonus, Subhumans recorded six additional songs from the same period for the second 12” of a two LP set, some of which had never been recorded before. The first disc keeps the track listing of “Incorrect Thoughts” at 33 1/3 rpm. “Same Thoughts Different Day “ was released earlier this year on Alternative Tentacles with a very positive response.
Original members Brian Goble (vocals), Gerry Hannah (bass), Mike Graham (guitar), and newly-recruited drummer Jon Card (formerly with Personality Crisis, SNFU, and DOA among others) got together and the band reactivated into a live entity.

Jesse David Weeks Wins With Somewhere In The Distance

The job of a policeman is to serve and protect. Jesse Weeks, a police officer with a music career does just that: serving listeners with relaxed melodies and protecting the pop song as a well crafted work of art.
It was a few years ago when Weeks penned ‘Somewhere In The Distance’ with friend Paul Burns, a carefree and catchy track, blending Jason Mraz-esque harmonies with Jack Johnson’s summer-ready groove. After tracking down producer Ron Lopata (Tomi Swick, Jully Black, Jacksoul), the two began work completing Weeks’ first full length. Started years ago and shelved, ‘Somewhere In the Distance’ needed some arrangement work, though the vibe and lyrics remained. When the song emerged successfully on the other end, it ended up winning the 2010 RadioStar National song contest and can now be heard on radio stations across the country.
But Weeks is no one-hit wonder, his debut full length of the same name Somewhere In The Distance, is chalk full of bouncy, vibey tracks that showcase both Weeks’ reggae influences and palpable sensitivity. ‘We Wanna Be Free’ (a collaboration with Saukrates) begs for more brotherhood in society, complemented with sunny, jazzy melodies. And ‘Bloodshed In Our Streets,’ winner of 91.5 The Beat’s 2007 Rhythm Of The Future Contest is a firsthand account of the gun troubles that plague his hometown of Toronto.
There is an honesty within Somewhere In the Distance that is a refreshing and bold step for a debut record. Weeks faces his inner fears on the piano-laden balladry of ‘Answers,’ while ‘Time Waits For No Man’ sees Weeks dipping into his appreciation of modern hip-hop with lyrical maturity. Simply put, there is nothing reserved about this album. Weeks goes for glory with catchy yet stunningly heartfelt tracks; it takes a bold personality to want to be a policeman, and that attitude is evident on this first release.
He is a rising star, whose musical charm refuses to go unnoticed. Jesse Weeks may have spent his time protecting the streets of Toronto, but with the release of Somewhere In The Distance, he’ll soon be serving listeners everywhere with tickets to his next hit song.

Junip, the Gothenburg Sweden-based rock trio – fronted by acclaimed singer/songwriter/guitarist José González – debuts Fieldson NPR’s ‘First Listen’ today. Fields can be heard in its entirety on the NPR website through the September 14th release date.

Junip was formed in the late '90s by drummer Elias Araya, singer and guitarist José González, and organ and moog player Tobias Winterkorn.
The early critical response to the band has been glowing. Pitchfork gave the Rope & Summit EP an 8.0 rating, saying that the music favors “simplicity and shade while retaining the uncluttered sonic arranging that so often serves as a trademark of González’s…we won’t have to wait long to hear more from Junip, and if it holds serve from Rope, the only disappointment will be that González could’ve been holding out on us for too long.” Under the Radar said, “González purists will not be able to resist the charms of Junip,” while the Seattle Weekly called them “stellar.”
Junip will be bringing their intimate atmospherics back stateside in the fall. The complete itinerary is below. The opening band for all the dates except Washington, DC and New York will be Sharon Van Etten.

Rock Group The Ruby Spirit Release Debut Record Born Under a Veil Saturday September 4 at The Great Hall

Date: Saturday, September 4, 2010
Location: The Great Hall, 1087 Queen St. West (SE Corner of Queen and Dovercourt)
Cost: $10 Admission + CD

Toronto, ON - The Ruby Spirit will be releasing their debut E.P., Born Under a Veil, Saturday September 4, 2010 to fans and media at The Great Hall. The show will begin at 9:45 pm. with invited music guests. The Ruby Spirit takes the stage at 11:30pm.

The five-piece band has gained a growing reputation transforming local gigs into powerful stage performances. These events have earned them showcase spots and supporting gigs including most recently opening Canadian Music Week’s kick off show with music icons Platinum Blonde.
They have been recognized in local press, most notably for their Canadian Music Fest and NXNE performances. The band's singer, Paige Boy appeared on the cover of the internationally distributed Communication Arts Magazine July/Aug ‘10 (please see attachment).
With a steady fan following, the band made headlines quickly this summer announcing a name change from Sadie May Crash to The Ruby Spirit in order to compliment the new sound from their latest musical endeavor."
The name change had to do with the addition of a new member, Juliana Eye, on keyboards which allowed us to write the music we wanted to write,” explains lead singer Paige Boy. “The name carries a new energy that we are ready to inflict. Letting go of the past while accepting the future."
The debut recording promises a collection of songs which holds surprises of new spellbinding sounds, twisting a theatrical taste to their pop roots and indie rock charms. Born Under a Veil was produced by Tony Malone (Drastic Measures, The Dishes), and mastered by Joao Carhvelho (Death from Above 1979, Lights).

The Ruby Spirit is:
Paige Boy - Vocals
Alex Pulec - Guitar + Vocals
Mike McDonnell - Bass
Jay Cipparrone - Drums
Juliana Eye - Keyboards + Vocals

PVT "Window" Remixes

PVT's single "Window" from their new album Church With No Magic, puts singer Richard Pike's vocals at the forefront for the first time and is typical of the dense collisions of PVT's sound world. It's a heady combination of vocal experimentation, swirling keyboard arpeggios and pounding drums, all topped by the band's adeptness for emotive harmony and clear melodic punch, distilled into three minutes.
Two very talented artists have remixed the track & these remixes have been made available for free download. They are:

Suspending the frenetic urgency of PVT's original concept, Austrian beat professor Dorian Concept holds "Window" in a
kaleidoscopic haze: seemingly pulling apart the song from the tape it was recorded on and filling the gaps with the flittering modal-jazz warmth he lent to Flying Lotus on Cosmogramma, their Brainfeeder collaboration and previous remixes for Jamie Lidell & Three 6 Mafia.

Danimals is the first Australian act to sign to Stones Throw Records. The US indie label famous for it's underground hip hop
signings is home to Madlib, Mayer Hawthorne, Dam-Funk and others. Danimals got a major profile boost when their song is used for a national TV advertising campaign. The song was written and recorded with help from a bunch of new friends including producer Mark Ronson, Santigold and Sean Lennon in New York.

LAZYgunsBRISKY is a 4-piece all girl rock band formed in Japan in 2006 by Lucy (vocal), Izumi (guitar), Azu (bass), and Moe (drums). They recorded their first free demo CD The Trip in February 2007. Word of mouth quickly spread and in April of 2008, they released their debut indie album Quixotic on July Records.
In December of the same year, Kenichi Asai (ex. BLANKEY JET CITY) produced and released LgB's major label EP Catching which came out on the Babestar label. On July 8th of 2009, LgB released their 2nd EP 26 Times on Flying Star Records in Japan, which as also produced by Asai.
Featuring a healthy offering of the band’s hard-edged riff-rock, 26 Times will finally be released in North America on August 31 on Good Charamel Records, the Buffalo, NY based label run by Goo Goo Dolls bassist, Robby Takac.
Over the last several months LAZYgunsBRISKY has been playing shows throughout Japan and Europe. A US tour is anticipated in early 2011.
LAZYgunsBRISKY also lend two tracks to Good Charamel’s I Love J-Rock compilation, which will be released August 31.

Andy Bell's NEW "Non-Stop" Single out 10/12

Andy Bell releases a new single and title track from his latest album, Non-Stop, out digitally on October 12th, 2010. The single features remixes from London based remix team Digital Dog (Tinchy Stryder, Britney Spears, Rihanna), plus exclusive tracks “Flying Colours” and the “Non-Stop” instrumental version. In addition, “Say What You Want” (Joy Joy Mix) by Ste Ashworth is included, which is the winning remix from a recent competition on andybell.com.
Non-Stop, co-produced and co-written by Andy Bell and Pascal Gabriel (S’Express, Debbie Harry, Kylie) is a lavish 10 track collection of exquisite dancefloor confessionals from one of the most acclaimed and beloved singers in British pop. The album features a duet with Perry Farrell (of Jane’s Addiction fame), Honey If You Love Him. Farrell, a huge fan of Andy’s voice, suggested the alliance.
Although Andy’s long-running partnership with Vince Clarke in Erasure (recipients of Best British Group at The Brit Awards) remains very much a going concern - since the release of 1986’s debut, Wonderland the duo have gone on to sell over 20 million albums, 5 of them hitting #1 and had 17 Top 10 UK singles - the singer’s second solo album provides a liberating platform for his more clubby, nocturnal, disco-glam side. He has even purposely changed his vocal register and style for much of Non-Stop, putting clear blue water between his soulfully electronic solo voice and his gleaming, poppy Erasure work.

PVT Gives Away Album Themed Mixtapes

PVT (formerly Pivot) have created cassette mixtapes based off of every song on their new record Church With No Magic. To help them get these mixtapes into the hands of those that would appreciate them most, the band have partnered with 10 different blogs to giveaway the mixtape alongside a stream of the song the playlist was built off of. Check out the links below to stream each track and win the mixtape!

"Community" -- The Music Slut
"Light Up Bright Fires" -- My Old Kentucky Blog
"Church With No Magic" -- Poptarts Suck Toasted
"Crimson Swan" -- Mog Music Network
"Window" (download) -- Audio Muffin
"The Quick Mile" (download) -- The Cheap Pop
"Waves & Radiation" -- The Audio Perv
"Circle Of Friends" -- Citizen Dick
"Timeless" -- What To Wear During An Orange Alert
"Only The Wind Can Hear You" -- Lost At E Minor

Australia's PVT has undergone a literal and sonic transformation over the last few years. Their sophomore record Church With No Magic is a truly modern-sounding album that takes their music in directions both challenging and more accessible. It’s music that captures the contemporary struggle for sincerity, a saturation of communication and an excess of access in our world. Yet, despite its often sinister and mechanical facade, there still emerges a very human quality at the heart of it.

Film School is calling all fans and designers to design the official merch for their upcoming tour.
The band is looking for drawings of striped animals (think zebras, tigers, fish, snakes) where the stripes on the animals are inspired by/resemble the stripes of the Fission album artwork.
Fans will vote on their favorite designs and then Film School will choose 3 winners from the most popular images.
10% of all proceeds from the merch will be donated to Tony LaRussa's ARF, an organization that saves dogs and cats who have run out of time at public shelters.

When Rinko and Yuzuru formed Molice in 2007, they had something most young bands don’t: a vision. Valuing the lessons learned from the dissolve of their previous band China Chop, they set about crafting a more focused unit, taking their love for the conceptual bands of the ‘60s and ‘70s as an inspiration rather than a template and infusing it with the edginess of their favorite movie, ‘Blade Runner’.
The result is a sound that couples the grunt of Pixies with the soul of The Doors, a sprinkling of Smiths-y guitar melody and a pinch of disco sensibility. Their two albums may pack in a wide variety of styles, but their songwriting is always tight and punchy, from the dancefloor bluster of ‘Headphone’ on 2008 album Doctor Ray to the sultry, sexy ‘Romancer’ on 2010’s Catalystrock. Though the band are now a four-piece, their core is very much a blend of the meticulous mind of Rinko and Yuzuru’s handcrafted production techniques.
Molice formed in January 2007 when they began playing weekly jams at Tokyo bar Kokubunji Rubber Soul, and they immediately set about crafting both their sound and image with care. In May 2007, they self-produced their first recordings, releasing them as ‘Molice Demo’. Fast-forward to August, and Molice were on stage at Japan’s biggest music festival, Summer Sonic. In September they performed a solo show (which in Japan is considered a sign of great popularity) before starting work on a series of three new demo CDs, which they released over the remains of 2007 and into the summer of 2008.
In November 2008, they released their first commercial CD, Doctor Ray, followed by a year of headline shows around Tokyo’s club scene, in places such as Shibuya, Shinjuku and Akihabara. That autumn, the music video for their track ‘Headphone’ was playlisted for repeated broadcast on French TV station NOLIFE. The band rounded out 2009 with three shows in London, England, followed in May 2010 by a show in Vietnam, at Hanoi’s CAMA Festival. Whether at home or abroad, they inject their shows with raw power and energy.
Molice’s second album, Catalystrock, was released in Japan in March 2010, and quickly found a warm reception from critics: Molice were chosen by Time Out as one of five Japanese acts primed for success in 2010, and interviews with the band graced several national and local publications. The North American version of Catalystrock will be released from Good Charamel Records (www.goodcharamel.com) on August 31st, 2010 and it include bonus tracks of “Superstar” and “Monster” (Remix).
Molice will be performing at the AWA Convention (Anime Weekend Atlanta, http://www.awa-con.com/) on September 18th. AWA is a three-day Japanese Animation and comics convention held annually in Atlanta, Georgia. Since 1995, AWA has become one of the most popular Japanese Animation conventions in the United States.
The band has also contributed two tracks to Good Charamel’s I Love J-Rock compilation, where they appear alongside Shonen Knife, LAZYgunsBRISKY and DJ Sashimi. I Love J-Rock will be released August 31.

The Poison Control Center would like to announce the debut of the 2nd video from their latest double LP Sad Sour Future (Afternoon Records). The song is called, "Friends in the Band." It's a bit of a mind fuck of psychedelic non-sense in a Stan Brakhage style that was shot and edited entirely by the band on no budget while out on tour.

The video premiered today exclusively on You Ain't No Picasso.

Synthetic Sounds and Danse Macabre Records are pleased to announce Left Spine Down will play their first European tour this December, supporting Mona Mur and En Esch on the Black Christmas Tour. The tour will focus on Germany and the Benelux region with a couple of UK dates as well.

Vancouver's cyberpunk outfit Left Spine Down, featuring Jeremy Inkel from Front Line Assembly, have toured North America twice in support of the Revolting Cocks in 2009 and 16Volt and Chemlab in 2010. LSD had a great showing at Kinetik Fetival this May, and their gritty and glitchy sound has been steadily winning fans in clubs across Canada and the US since their 2007 debut Smartbomb. Fan demands for European shows have finally hit critical mass.

Mona Mur and En Esch are both legends in the underground world. En Esch is a former member of KMFDM and Pigface as well as being a founding member of Slick Idiot. Mona Mur is a singer, composer and media artist who has been active in the German underground scene since the 1980s. Ms. Mur and Esch began their collaboration in 2007 and have recently released the album 120 Tage: The Fine Art of Beauty and Violence. Blending elements of punk, Avant Garde, free jazz, ska, surf, and that funky “je ne sais quoi” possessed by many Japanese girl bands, TsuShiMaMiRe consists of Yayoi (bass), Mari (guitar and vocals), and Mizue (drums).
The band was formed in 1999 when the girls were still in college. While performing at local venues, TsuShiMaMiRe recorded the demo singles “Hamburger Set” (1999) and “Bloody Mohawk” (2001). The band signed a recording deal with Tokyo based in die, Benten Lable (Petty Booka, Titan Go King’s) and released the first album Pregnant Fantasy in the summer 2004. In the same year, the girls joined Bleach, Noodles, and Kokeshi Doll on a 2004 US tour, which included the obligatory stop at the South by Southwest (SXSW) Music Festival in Austin, TX. TsuShimamire have embarked on six US tours with over 150 live shows performed in the states to date.
In 2008, TsuShiMaMiRe collaborated with Cartoon Network’s popular television series, Powerpuff Girls on their mini album, Six Mix Girls. On their 10th anniversary, the band made their major label debut on Japan’s FlyingStar Records. The band became notable for their unique style and began gaining a fan base in both the US and their home, Japan. Containing a mix of cuts from their demo singles and new songs, the sound is tight and well-executed, while preserving a refreshing, playful/vicious sponta neity and explosiveness.
Whereas Japanese punk bands often prefer to include sing-along, 50s style ele ments in their songs, TsuShiMaMiRe appears to be informed more by punk, noise, and jazz, and the guitar and bass often engage in wild riff interplay, lending the music a welcome spaciousness that invites repeat listens. Lyrical content is, as we have come to expect from Japanese girl bands, way out there, ranging from songs about how fish paste feels when it is cooked (“Camaboco”) to an imaginary conversation between a newborn baby and its mother (“Pregnant Fantasy”).
TSMMR’s second full-length album, Sex on the Beach, was released in the spring of 2010, and the band is now preparing for a North American release on August 31st, via Robby Takac of Goo Goo Dolls’ record label, Good Charamel Records.
Prepare to experience another chapter in the crazy, frenetic world of TsuShiMaMiRe as the band is set to embark on a North American tour with self proclaimed “Japanese Action Comic Punks” Peelander-Z starting October 31 in Las Vegas. See dates below.
TSMMR also contribute two tracks to Good Charamel’s I Love J-Rock compilation where they appear alongside Shonen Knife, LAZYgunsBRISKY, Molice and DJ Sashimi. I Love J-Rock will be released August 31.

The Dig Tour with The Henry Clay People

The Dig have spent the majority of the past year on the road, touring with Editors and The Antlers, then Portugal. The Man and Port O’Brien, and then The Joy Formidable. The band also played at both the inaugural Truck America Festival and The Bamboozle festival this spring.
In July, the band supported Thrice, Kevin Devine, and Bad Veins, and also opened for Dashboard Confessional for two shows.
Just before the two Dashboard shows, The Dig's van was broken into in Chicago and most of their gear was stolen (the band performed the shows with borrowed gear from Dashboard).
Incredibly, they were able to quickly replace their instruments thanks to an outpouring of support from fans.

MP3: Mouthful Of Bees - "The Now"

“The Now” by Mouthful Of Bees is one of the greatest songs I’ve ever heard. It was the lead track on The End, which came out in January 2007 and was Afternoon Records’ 31st release. Chris Farstad’s haunting croon carries the song while his sister, Kate Farstad, drives it with her unrelentingly powerful and sometimes manic drumming.

Check it out here.

Los Angeles-based alt-rockers The Lincoln Bedroom and People Mover Records are proud to announce to release of the third single from their debut LP, entitled "Whiskey, You."
The single comes at the end of a successful East Coast tour, which kicked off in Nashville where this album's inpiration was conceived. The single personifies the record - whiskey, cigarettes, grit and good old-fashioned songwriting.
Broken Record was inspired equally inspired by the neon lights of Nashville and Los Angeles, but the alt-country approach to songwriting is all Tennessean. Frontman David Richman was taken aback by the glow while attending Vanderbilt University, and retreated to his dorm and guitar. It was there that Broken Record's shell was versed, before returning to L.A. where it was recorded with the rest of the band.

Groundbreaking Composer Prepares to Release Album Dustlane.
Celebrated composer and multi instrumentalist Yann Tiersen has just signed to Anti-Records. Tiersen is a renowned and startlingly unique artist whose early albums merged cutting edge classical with flourishes of folk with the bristly energy of post punk. And while these works attracted a dedicated fan base, it was his soundtrack to the beloved indie film “Amelie” which introduced Tiersen to a far wider audience.
Since then Tiersen has continued to attract fans with a continuously evolving sound and memorable live performances at everything from distinguished concert halls to rock festivals including a recent appearance at this years Coachella Music and Arts Festival in California. A collaboration between Tiersen and hip-hop artist Sage Francis “The Best Of Times” proved a breakout track, with several prominent English DJs debuting the song to an overwhelmingly audience response.
Tiersen’s new album Dustlane is the result of an intensive two year creative process in which Tiersen not only composed the songs but played every instrument besides drums. It began with acoustic guitars, mandolin, banjo, bouzouki and toy drums followed by the addition of electric guitars and bass and finally the incorporation of the vintage analogue synthesizers of Tiersen’s post punk youth.
“I was a teenager during the late eighties and early nineties and was a huge fan of the analog synth,” Tiersen explains. “I have several synths that love so much at home and so I started to spend my days in front of the beautiful knobs of my Prophet 5 and my Moog and oh!! miracle, it suddenly seemed so natural to add their texture to Dustlane. I really love the space they bring to the album.”
The album’s vocals are a combination of atmospheric choruses as well as Matt Elliot (who has worked with Mogwai, Blonde Redhead, Thurston Moore, The Pastels) providing dramatic narration on several tracks including “Chapter 19” which excerpts the writer Henry Miller. “Henry Miller is perhaps my favorite writer,” Tiersen explains. “He changed my perception of life during my youth as much as the punk and post punk bands did. And with his low deep voice and Bristol accent Matt did an absolutely perfect job. ”
The end result is a sonically expansive and emotionally powerful album that, like Tiersen’s renowned career, defies easy categorization. As Anti-Records president Andy Kaulkin explains, “We are genuinely excited to be working with an artist of Yann Tiersen’s immense talents. He is an incredibly innovative artist who breaks down boundaries and can't be put in a box and we hope to do a wide variety of projects with him. “

'I Love J-Rock' Compilation To Be Released August 31 On Good Charamel Records

On August 31, Good Charamel Records dives head first into the colorful world of Japanese rock/pop culture with the release of their “I LOVE J-ROCK” compilation.
Offering a sampling of some of Japan’s coolest female-fronted rock bands, I Love J-Rock features 3 tracks by legends (and Kurt Cobain favorites) Shonen Knife, as well as cuts from 4 up and coming acts plucked from the live houses of the Tokyo underground for your enjoyment.
From the hard-edged all girl riff-rock of LAZYgunsBrisky, to the Pixie-esque rhythms and melodies of MOLICE, to the magna-sass punk rock of TsuShiMaMiRe, and the Asia electro-beats of DJ Sashimi, I Love J-Rock serves as an excellent primer to the J-Rock/Pop scene for the newbie, or simply a killer “mixtape” for longtime fans of the genre.
In explaining the genesis of the project, Good Charamel Records founder and J-Rock fan, Robby Takac (bassist for Goo Goo Dolls) says, "We had signed Shonen Knife to Good Charamel in North America in 2009 after one of our acts recorded and toured with them in the States and Japan. I've always loved SK, but as we began to look deeper into the J-Rock scene it opened a whole new world of music to me. My wife is from Tokyo, and is also our label manager, so we naturally began the integration of the bands into our label family.”

I Heart J Rock Track Listing:
1. J-POP (TsuShiMaMiRe)
2. Perfect Freedom (Shonen Knife)
3. Monster (MOLICE)
4. Navy Star (LAZYgunsBRISKY)
5. Strobe (TsuShiMaMiRe)
6. Ramones Forever (Shonen Knife)
7. Romancer (MOLICE)
8. Bitter Day (LAZYgunsBRISKY)
9. Expolosion! (Shonen Knife)
10. Japanese Girl In New York (DJ Sashimi)

Emerging as the new standard from Massachusetts’ storied musical legacy, FAR FROM FINISHED have announced August 31, 2010 as the official release date for their highly-anticipated Old Shoe Records’ debut, ironically titled FORGETTABLE. Vocalist Steve Neary explained the title, “…being cocky just never seemed to fit with this band. Forgettable is just that. It’s an attempt to acknowledge and move on. Its a effort to be happy.” Spending the better part of a full calendar year refining the details, FAR FROM FINISHED combined everything from a string quartet to a children’s choir to craft their most ambitious collection of tracks to date. These seasoned songwriters combined unconventional instrumentation, a general disregard for expectation, and a well-rounded ear for a timeless tune, to prove once again, FAR FROM FINISHED is so much more than punk.
With two studio releases under their belt, FFF’s ability to harness a real sense of melody, meshed with an infectious delivery, has established the band as a true to form diamond in the rough. The band talked about how this go ‘round musically would be received. “I think whenever you release anything there's gonna be that feeling inside you that maybe rejection's on the horizon, but honestly you can't think like that. In the past, anything we've released has been quite different from whatever came before it, so in a sense we're ready for whatever. Fear's not your friend, so we could give a fuck if people don't approve of the musical direction we took with this record,” Neary emphasized.
Going to work with legendary producer Jim Siegel (Dropkick Murphys, The Unseen) at the famed Outpost Studios, FORGETTABLE is anchored by the band’s proven ability to turn punk rock disposition into a dynamic 3-minute piece of music. In addition to being the band’s most diverse collection of songs, FORGETTABLE also remains one of the band’s most personally revealing efforts just the same. Guitarist Oscar Capps detailed the therapy of it all, “Lyrically and musically we tried not to hold anything back this time around. We've got stories about drugs, fathers, wives, and mothers…The good, the bad, the ugly. It's not so much where a song came from, but where it goes and the experience of sharing it with someone else that might relate. Punk rock shows have always been a hell of a lot more fun then seeing a shrink."
FAR FROM FINISHED will spend the duration of 2010 on the road to support FORGETTABLE. Recently wrapping their triumph of the 2010 Vans Warped Tour, the band will celebrate the album’s release with an epic hometown show on September 4th, 2010, before heading overseas to spend the fall performing throughout Europe. Bassist and all around good guy, Pesky, talked about the kind of thinking the band values during such a critical time, “We just bought a new cargo van and on the dash in sharpie is written "dream big, worry little". It's amusing to think of a 45-year old plumber driving around with that written on his dash.” Primed to share what could arguably be called the band’s finest hour on record, hesitation, for this band is just not an option. FAR FROM FINISHED is just as the band’s namesake suggests and as for FORGETTABLE, well…hardly.

For more information on all things FAR FROM FINISHED including tour dates, exclusive content, and up-to-the-minute info on the band visit them online.

Timbuktu Releases Hip Hop Masterpiece: Stranger Danger

Timbuktu. Just saying the word conjures up images of a place long thought impossible to find.
London, Ontario. Now that’s a different story. But out of London comes an MC, one whose raucous debauchery, intense beats and insane live shows conjures up the image of an artist many believe does not exist. But Timbuktu is real, and he’s unleashed Stranger Danger (Urbnet) upon the masses.
As part of the Canadian mic-smashing crew Toolshed, Timbuktu has contributed lyrics and production to numerous albums and has collaborated with acts such as Canada’s Backburner Collective and hip-hop legend El Da Sensai. Now, it’s time for Timbuktu to put his face on Canada’s proverbial hip-hop map. Stranger Danger, a collection of 15 radical and charged tracks is hip-hop that manages to work its way into the subconscious with a sense of class. From the sly, late-summer vibe of ‘Fishcakes’ to the old-school, carefree lyrical bounce of ‘Authority Figures,’ there is truly something for both casual and dedicated hip-hop fans on Stranger Danger.
Making a well-respected name for himself for the past 13 years also has its perks for Timbuktu; numerous guest stars show up on Stranger Danger to lend their voice and respect to a truly well-crafted album. Chokeules lends spooky rhymes to the punchy, distinct groove of ‘X Files’ while El Da Sensai shows up on the immediately catchy, club-ready ‘Nothin Sweet.’ Stranger Danger runs the gamut of Canadian hip-hop, with production coming not just from Timbuktu but a cast of stars including The Extremities, Fresh Kils and Jorun Bombay. With so much to offer, Stranger Danger might be that one album that was long thought impossible to find. Fun yet intense, cohesive but with breakout tracks, Stranger Danger will not disappoint. The search, is over.

More tour dates to follow – in the meantime check out the lead single 'Rock Radio' here: http://www.urbnet.com/artist-timbuktu.asp
