"Starting Over" MP3:

Grinderman New Single – Out August 31st 2010

"Heathen Child"
"Heathen Child", the new single from the band Grinderman, will be released on August 31st. The premiere offering from their new studio album Grinderman 2, Heathen Child will be released through Anti- with the complete album following on September 14.
The song Heathen Child cuts a deep seductively heavy groove interjected with dazzling squalls of saw-tooth distortion. It abounds in lyrical imagery at turns lascivious, paranoid, philosophic, absurd and flat out abusive. The video, vividly directed by long-time collaborator John Hillcoat, brings the ominous sensuality and surreal malevolence of the lyrics to life; but it also demonstrates clear evidence of the fun and imagination Grinderman have working together.

Grinderman are Nick Cave, Warren Ellis, Martyn Casey and Jim Sclavunos. They have forged a distinctly different way of working together. Grinderman have cast off musical baggage, shrugged off accepted wisdom, and tested pre-conceptions about who they are as musicians. Grinderman is no hobby, no dalliance, and clearly no one-off: it is a crucible, an experimental workshop, a disciplined orgy of ideas and action. Grinderman is the one-of-a-kind band Nick, Warren, Martyn and Jim have waited all their life to be, and only now at this moment in time can have become.

Around The World And Back release sophomore album "Songs To Sleep To"

Like your favorite sweater on a cold winter day Around the World and Back makes the kind of music that feels warm, familiar, and uniquely comfortable. The Albany quartet is giving another serving of musical chicken soup with the release of their newest album Songs To Sleep To.
Recorded in the bands home studio in Albany NY, Songs To Sleep To is a six song collection that showcases the honesty in their songwriting and their ever growing passion for their craft. With warm guitars and delicate vocals, this newest album has the kind of songs that help you through the dark times, but also help you celebrate the good.

Ever since the release of the bands initial album Van Go in 2008. Around the World and Back have had the opportunity to open for a slew of bands they admire, including Manchester Orchestra, Good Old War, Straylight Run, O’Brother, Sam Roberts Band, and LoveDrug.
The band is now working hard to continue writing and performing, continuing to build the connection with their loyal fans. What comes next they do not know but Around the World and Back knows it will involve making the kind of music people love. From their living room…to your front door.

One of the foundations of the metal revival of the past ten years, Austin TX’s The Sword have released two flawless slabs of vintage heaviness on Kemado Records, toured the world with Metallica, and were honored to grace the past three editions of Guitar Hero. This summer, the band casts its gaze to the stars for Warp Riders, their third full-length and their most ambitious effort to date. Hitting stores on August 24th via Kemado Records, it is the band’s first concept album and is fittingly grand in scope both lyrically and in terms of musical craftsmanship.
This also marks the first release where the group has worked with an outside producer. Helmed by Matt Bayles (Pearl Jam, Mastodon, Isis), Warp Riders is anchored by an epic science-fiction narrative. The storyline is a psychedelic space opera that explores temporal themes of death and rebirth.
The album also finds The Sword expanding their range from pure metal to include bone-crunching hard rock at large. Rather than dampening their sound, the band actually sounds more amplified than ever, spewing out some of their most scalding riffs to date and channeling an unearthly bellow from their low end.
Opening track “Acheron/Unearthing The Orb” begins with ominous, fog-drenched atmosphere before a flurry of nimble fretwork and galloping drums storm out of the gate. The energy doesn’t let up once and by the final moments of closing track “(The Night Sky Cried) Tears of Fire,” an intensely satisfying resolution sets in. Guitarists Kyle Shutt and JD Cronise execute punishing acrobatics while injecting melody at every turn. Bryan Richie’s warm bass lays down the foundation and ripples with menace. Trivett Wingo’s drumming explodes with the perfect balance of both precision and dexterity. Each member of The Sword is an individual force to be reckoned with, but when united they come together like the four horsemen of the apocalypse to wreak havoc like no other.

We all feel that pressure from time to time: how can I, just one person, change the world? Ambitious as it might be, these pressures can be warranted and if there’s anyone who we can turn to for inspiration, it’s Ceschi. Not only is he the founder of influential hip-hop label, Fake Four Inc., his one man band makes some of the most eclectic yet powerful hip-hop in recent memory.
Turning his unique vision into a passionate fusion of folk, trippy ambient electronic, mellow indie-leaning pop with his forceful MC skills, The One Man Band Broke Up is Ceschi’s latest album and quite possibly his most accessible to date. But don’t let the title of the record fool you; Ceschi is anything but slowing down.
“Ceschi’s greatest skill, inhumanly precise flow aside, has always been his wild juxtaposition of genres, and this trend continues on The One Man Band Broke Up. Very few records, if any, manage to channel hip hop, pop, psychedelia and folk into the same forty minutes while remaining as accessible as this.” - Stereokill
Available June 29th and produced by Equinox Records founder DJ Scientist, The One Man Band Broke Up follows the rise and fall of fictional musician Julius and the Bearded Savior. A track like ‘Long Live The Short Lived’ brings to mind some of the more poignant of The Smiths work, with Ceschi’s intense MC skills being showcased with harmonious ease. ‘Bridge’ roams with a dreamy mandate while the title track’s groovy persistence takes aim at the complacency that holds all of us back. Guest appearances include those by Sole, Astronautalis, Ben Cooper, Shoshin, and Mic King.
“The average rapper approaches a concept album with lyrics as a singular tool, while Ceschi applies brush strokes by weaving effortlessly from genre to genre. Allow The One Man Band Broke Up to double as both a significant piece of art and cautionary tale.” - okayplayer
Taking The One Man Band Broke Up on the road across the US West Coast, catch Ceschi playing alongside fellow label mates Moka Only and Factor. If you’re up for one of those nights that could take you anywhere, make sure not to miss this tour. And if it’s a journey into the great unknown of the sonic map, give The One Man Band Broke Up a spin.

Pre-Order Limited Edition Version Of EATMEWHILEIMHOT!'s xALBUMx now.

EATMEWHILEIMHOT!'s first full length, xALBUMx, is available now for pre-order. In classic EMWIH! style, we've created a fairly offensive and clumsy special edition version of the album. This is strictly limited to 300 hand-numbered copies. You'll get the cd version of the record housed in a 12 by 12 inch vinyl sleeve. The cd will magically float in the center cut hold of jacket and almost appear to be a legit vinyl version of the record. IT IS NOT! These are pretty insane looking and are a solid conversation starter. You'll also get the album before it hits stores and before it's available digitally.

Album pre-order link:

3. xPIZZAx

The standard cd version of the album (jewel case with multi-paged solid black booklet) and digital version of xALBUMx will be released on July 27, 2010. The album was recorded at Engaged Audio and produced by Kevin Gates and EATMEWHILEIMHOT! To hear songs from the release, please head to the band's (

Summer has arrived. Break out the BBQ, find your favourite pair of shorts and open your ears: it’s time for some new music to add to your summer soundtrack. The fresh sense of optimism that always accompanies summer is the perfect headspace for Kilmore Place, an atmospheric and invigorating five-piece out of Vancouver. And how fitting a home - their sound is as wide as an ocean, tall as a mountain, and entirely DIY. With the release of ...What Happened?, their second EP, many will soon realize that Kilmore Place might very well be the kind of place they’d like to hang out.
Beginning with the inspired feel of ‘Runaway,’ ...What Happened? strikes on an immediately visceral level. If Coldplay called Vancouver home and had more folk-leanings, you might begin to understand Kilmore Place. The six tracks on ...What Happened? are all equally grand in scope, though ‘Night’s Forgotten’ stands out with groovy, melodic capabilities as does ‘Bag It Up’ in all its moody, edgy glory. ‘Lost At A Wedding’ is a track that not only encapsulates summer’s endless possibilities, but also presents palpable emotions which so many of us feel during summer’s one eternal constant: a friend’s wedding. But it’s the endearing manner which Kilmore Place present those emotions, as they do throughout ...What Happened? that really sets them apart.
And with a limitless sound, Kilmore Place are taking their sounds exactly where they should be: across this vast country of ours. Having shared stages with the likes of The Dudes, Hedley, and Hey Ocean, they’re now heading from British Columbia to Toronto and back again, and are ready not just to entertain, but to inspire. See this band live, but more importantly, feel them live.
Kilmore Place are Ryan Bacchus (vocals, guitar), Bryce Wagner (keyboards/percussion), Greg England (guitar), Marcus Abramzik (bass, vocals), and Eisa Godoussey (drums).

And here is where you get to see/feel it all live for yourself:

Like listening to old bluesmen on your new iPod Touch, BRONZE RADIO RETURN is a band that is all about the juxtaposition of the old and new. Their new album Old Time Speaker (which is out now) is the ultimate love letter to all of the things that make their music what it is.
Producer Doug Derryberry (Kings Of Leon, Ben Folds Five) discovered the band's considerable talents at a NYC show and produced their first EP. For Old Time Speaker producer Chad Copelin (Bishop Allen) took the Northeastern band below the Mason Dixon to record their ten-track endeavor. This new album saw the band trying to experience as much of the country as possible, hitting the road for incredibly long stretches to share their music with as many people as possible.

As lead singer Chris Henderson sings “I just fell in love with a forty-five (rpm record) been kept alive in a box over 30 years old,” it’s lyrics like these which really show a respect for the music that inspired the band so much.
The serious nature of the band members’ musicianship led them to study their craft for their higher education. They met playing throughout CT and NY in various permutations through mutual friends. The way they modernize this traditional American style of music is what makes them truly unique. “We each offer a different spin on the music we play,” offers Henderson, who professes great appreciation for Ben Harper and Muddy Waters. “That’s really how we found our unique sound. Everyone has a voice and adds to it.” Bandmates cite everyone from Stevie Wonder to Tom Petty as influences.

Anaheim’s NEW YEARS DAY ( is taking its blend of grrrl power rock on the road this summer as part of the Van Warped Tour thanks in part to tour founder Kevin Lyman’s personal invitation. Currently working on its full length sophomore release, the band will be on the summer juggernaut trek from June 27 to July 8.

Formed after bad breakups for some of its band members, including fiery front woman Ash, early supporters of NEW YEARS DAY included Fall Out Boy’s Patrick Stump and Motion City Soundtrack’s Justin Pierre who later collaborated on the track "Brilliant Lies."

Even tastemaker publication Alternative Press heralded the band’s "blend of girl-power vocals and dark pop-song structures," and gave a heads-up to the record industry, noting: "We'd advise A&R reps to start booking flights, like, now.”

Currently, singer Ash is pulling double duty writing as a Fashion Correspondent for Ragged Magazine while on Warped Tour. Her column will be posted at the following sites:

Another supporter of the band’s, Fuse TV has selected NYD as a buzz artist for its Warped Tour special and will showcase the band on and Fuse TV.

The Extremities preview fall release with Eastern Canada tour dates.
The Extremities is an incredibly fitting name for the latest project, courtesy of Toronto's producer Fresh Kils (sampler/keyboard) and Halifax’s Uncle Fester (turntable). Simply put, there’s just so much happening on The Mint Condition, the collaboration’s newest record set for release this September, that it’s impossible not to hop on board with their groovy, eclectic brand of lounge-inspired hip-hop.

Now, don’t assume so quickly that The Mint Condition is a difficult listen. No, it’s just that The Mint Condition is so laden with the kind of smokey, graceful hip-hop that you might find yourself wondering just how extremely (pun totally intended) seducing hip-hop can really be. Take for example the first leaked track ‘Lost Souls’ - a very versatile listen, perfectly ready for backyard Bar-B-Q’s, long drives into dusk or the kind of ultra-exclusive jazz club that rewards its devotees with the kind of fresh sounds all music fans pine for. Yes, The Extremities push their listeners to not only get involved in their sound, but drink up every last drop. Guests on the album include Ali Shaheed Muhammad (A Tribe Called Quest), El Da Sensei, Supastition, Rich Kidd, Lush Life, Ghettosocks and Timbuktu. Talk about extremes.

While The Extremities take their jazz-induced brand of soulful, culturally aware hip-hop on the road throughout Eastern Canada, hype on the act will certainly continue to grow. Besides two of the founding members of Halifax’s venerable hip-hop crew, Backburner, Kils and Fester will be joined on their upcoming tour by Anthony Rinaldi on the sax, two up and coming Emcee’s which make up Magnolius, and Ambition. If the combined presence and talent of all the collaborators within The Extremities is any indication, this is an act that will be taking their unique vision even further in the future and surely, cannot be missed.

Catch Kils, fresh off co-producing "Vaudeville" with D-Sisive and winning the Sound Battle Royale producer battle, with Uncle Fester perform their soon to be released tracks here:

Outernational, the band with balls!

Our dear friends (well, by friends I mean I saw them once and loved them) Outernational got in a heated dispute with a crowd they played for in Arizona over their stupid immigration law.

Probably the BEST live video EVER!

The footage was taken from a concert last year, but just now has a video of great quality surfaced... and after watching it I literally was in awe.

Clutch Announce North American Tour w/Black Label Society

Following a calendar year of worldwide headline touring behind their career best Top 35 soundscan CD Strange Cousins From the West and subsequent critically acclaimed Top 10 Dual DVD Live at the 9:30, Maryland's CLUTCH announced they will share the stage with hard rock acts Black Label Society and Children of Bodom on the 37 date "Bezerkacircus North American Tour" this Fall. "Clutch's recent hard-nose work ethic is unparalled by today's standard rock acts. The past 12-18 months have been the busiest time period of Clutch," stated label manager Jon Nardachone, referring to Clutch's THREE Bonnaroo sets, played within 24 hours in the smoldering 100 heat on the June 11th and 12th weekend. Nardachone adds "They feed off the energy of the greatest diehard fans in the world. We all wonder how they get up for it night after night after night, but as I witnessed 10,000+ rock & roll crazies simultaneously chanting 'Bang Bang Bang Bang! Vamanos! Vamanos!' in the middle of the Tennessee night, it all makes sense."
If you were not at Bonnaroo don't worry, you can still download a three song MP3 sampler of live material from Clutch and The Bakerton Group, compliments of Weathermaker Music but hurry up! The free download will not last long.

Mary Gauthier - Sideshow

Check out "Sideshow" by Mary Gauthier, off the album The Foundling.

On the album, Gauthier (pronounced go-SHAY) takes the listener through the moving tale of her journey to find her birth mother.
She was born to an unwed mother in 1962 and subsequently surrendered to an orphanage where she spent her first year. Gauthier was adopted shortly thereafter but left her adopted family at fifteen, wandering for years looking for, but never quite finding, a place that felt like home.
Later in life, Gauthier searched for, found, and was denied a meeting with her birth mother. The album is truly a masterpiece of emotion with Gauthier telling her incredible story.

Listen to "Sideshow" below, which perfectly captures the loneliness and the pain of being an abandoned child.

First of all, I'm sorry to those who have emailed me and haven't gotten a response in, like, ages and to those who are waiting on reviews... I have a good system going with me myself and I keeping everything up to date normally but I didn't realize how much shit piles up after a week away... and I have been desperatly trying to keep up on top of like getting drunk and chillin' and shit.

Anyway, it's a-comin'
As for my vacation, VANCOUVER FUCKING RULES!
While there I managed to catch a total of 2 shows.

The first was more of an open mic night at a cafe across from where I was staying called Cafe Deux Soleils.
I have no fucking idea who I saw perform that night, basically people just show up and put your name in a draw or something? Anyslew, it was Thursday June 10th and the first was a trio of fairly attractive guys singing wicked harmonies and cute better-than-jack-johnson kind of surf laid back rock, I don't know I was probably hammered, but it was really amazing and if I ever find out who they were...
I don't remember much else, we saw a lot of people and I guess no one else stood out that much, in a good way anyway... I do recall hating this one bitch near the end because her drummer, who was actually playing his first show with her ever, was taking a slightly long time trying to find his drum(?) and so instead of just playing some shit to pass the time she obnoxiously nagged at him from the stage over the mic, demanding him on stage and shit annoying the shit out of hopefully more than just me. I know you only get 10 minutes but get off the fucking mic you dumb whore. She sucked too, really awful tone to her voice and was off key.

The next show was at a place called Funky Winker Bean where I saw possibly the best front woman ever, despite the fact she stood up there with only a tambourine. I think they were called Melted Faces and as I recall they played this old school surf-like? punk and had a song about the douchebag Greyhound killer getting to take goddamn walks outside.
Next was Mode Moderne this super tight 80's rock that reminded me of the likes of The Cure. They were damn good too, totally mod rock.
To see pictures click here.

But like I said, I have a shitload of work to do so that's all the time I have for this.

See yuh.

Disco Ensemble Rock The Ring!

Disco Ensemble are in the middle of an European tour which will allow them to play in front of thousands of people. On their latest jaunt to Germany the band played in front of nearly 150,000 people at the Rock am Ring (Rock at the Ring) and Rock im Park (Rock in the Park) festivals, which are two simultaneous rock festivals held over two days. It's the largest festival in Germany and one of the largest in the world. To put it in perspective, Bonnaroo 2010 had an estimated audience of just shy of 90,000 people.

Check out video footage of the band performing in front of a sea of people. This year the band shared the stage with the likes of Muse, Them Crooked Vultures, Jay-Z, The Gossip, The Hives, The Editors, and Gogol Bordello.

Their album, The Island of Disco Ensemble is in stores now on Fullsteam records.
Promotional opportunities are available and/or if you need music, let me know!

"His (Sam Sparro's) version of their single "Dear Dictator" is a stylized, lost-in-space melange of electro, funk and disco, meaning synths descending like party streamers and a restless, Princely bassline. If it was a piece of furniture, it would be a zebra-print loveseat. Always wanted one of those."

Saint Motel recently finished a tour of the Northwest and Canada with British rockers Band Of
Skulls and are currently writing new material before attacking the road again this Summer. With their track “Butch” being played consistently on KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic, they headline the kickoff to KCRW's “Also I Like To Rock” Summer Series on July 1 at The Hammer Museum in Los Angeles, joining a list of previous headliners that includes Silversun Pickups, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Band Of Skulls, The Duke Spirit, and Tokyo Police Club.

“Saint Motel never fail to put on a show that’s a treat for the senses” - Metromix

“Saint Motel has a...particular blend of wholesome indie rock brimming with raucous sexual energy.” - The Onion

“Imploring, atonal, and irresistible garage glam.” - Flavorpill

Mavis Staples - "You Are Not Alone"

Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and soul/gospel legend Mavis Staples delivers more wall-to-wall joy on her triumphant new Anti- album, ‘You Are Not Alone’ (September 14), than any other release you’re likely to hear this year.
Produced by fellow Chicagoan Jeff Tweedy at Wilco’s studio The Loft, the intimate and textured production showcases the iconic singer at her most powerful and fervent. ‘You Are Not Alone’ mixes traditional gospel numbers with two new songs written for Mavis by Tweedy, plus her unique interpretations of songs by Pops Staples, Randy Newman, Allen Toussaint, John Fogerty, Rev. Gary Davis and Little Milton.
The album features Mavis’s touring band of the last three years: Rick Holmstrom, guitar, vocals; Jeff Turmes, bass, vocals; Stephen Hodges, drums; Donny Gerrard, background vocals; plus special guests Jeff Tweedy on guitars, bass, and vocals; Wilco’s Patrick Sansone, keys, vibes; Mark Greenberg, vibes, keys; with additional background vocals by frequent Neko Case collaborators Kelly Hogan and Nora O’Connor, and Richard Parenti.
‘You Are Not Alone’ is Mavis’s second studio release for Anti. It follows her 2007 critical triumph, “We’ll Never Turn Back,” produced by Ry Cooder, which revisited the great songs of the civil rights era and prompted her hometown paper The Chicago Sun-Times to hail her as “an American treasure.” In 2008, Anti- issued a rapturously received live album, ‘Live: Hope at the Hideout,’ which was named one of the Best Live CDs of All Time by’s editors and earned Mavis her first Grammy-nomination as a solo artist.
Mavis Staples is enjoying a major career resurgence, having become a festival favorite in recent years. This summer she will play Lollapalooza on August 6, and the Wilco-curated Solid Sound Festival at Mass MoCa on August 14 with additional US and European tour dates to be announced soon.

Track listing for Mavis Staples, ‘You Are Not Alone’

2. You Are Not Alone (Jeff Tweedy)
3. Downward Road (Pops Staples)
4. In Christ There is No East and West (traditional; arranged by Jeff Tweedy)
5. Creep Along, Moses (traditional)

Japandroids Share New Single "Younger Us"

Japandroids Share New Single "Younger Us"

A favorite among Midwest rock fans, Chicago’s Danger Is My Middle Name will be self-releasing its Giant Killer EP on August 10.
With a rabid fan base in cities such as Minneapolis, Iowa City, Milwaukee, Grand Rapids, Dayton, St. Louis, and Northwest Indiana, the band has managed to win over audiences on the strength of its no-nonsense, classic pop-punk hooks and quirky, original riffs, so much so that the band has more than 60,000 digital downloads, and has delivered breakout performances at Warped Tour, SXSW, Milwaukee’s Summerfest, Florida Music Festival, and other tours across the country.
To stand out among the post-pop-punk excesses of the Chicago music scene, Craig Miller was told every band needs a great story. But Danger Is My Middle Name is not about concocting a story or relying on any gimmick. Instead, the band’s “story” is of like-minded musicians meeting, writing together and playing together, and it worked. The lack of artifice suits the members of Danger Is My Middle Name (vocalist/guitarist Gabe Atkins, bassist Craig Miller, guitarist William Cox) just fine.
"This record is a reflection of where we're at in life and where we are as a band... a little more grown up, and a little more fun," singer Gabe Atkins explains.
“Giant Killer in my opinion is our most powerful record yet,” guitarist William Cox adds. “The lyrics are a lot deeper than our previous records. There’s a rush of energy throughout all the tracks."
The band’s new single "Here We Go" features guest vocals from Kevin Truckenmiller from Quietdrive, as well as Jake Scherer from New Medicine.
Going back to 2007, Danger's Revenge On The Radio EP hit Chicago like a hurricane and rapidly destroyed college radio play lists and major market stations like Q101 Chicago, KRQ Tucson and 107.7 The End in Seattle with its popular title track. Alternative Press Magazine, and reviewed and featured the EP.
In July 2009, the band recorded its highly anticipated follow-up EP Sink Or Swim with producer Marc McClusky (Farewell, Hit The Lights, Ludo) receiving positive press from,,, and A featured CD on, it was downloaded over 5,000 times during a free, week-long pre-release. Even today, Sink Or Swim commands a place in the Top 100 Unsigned Band release on
With the release of Giant Killer, the band is primed to helm the resurgence of competent songwriting and inspiring on-stage dynamics that proudly don’t involve laptops to connect with fans.
“I think that our new EP Giant Killer is the first batch of songs we have put out that really captures the energy of a Danger Is My Middle Name show," bassist Craig Miller declares.
Unsung underdogs of the Windy City, watch and listen as the Danger Is My Middle Name story continues to unfold.

Twin Atlantic To Support Blink-182 On UK Dates. Band Also Confirmed To Open For The Gaslight Anthem

It would be an understatement to say that 2010 has already been a landmark year for Twin Atlantic ( ). From a triumphant hometown show selling out the 1250-capacity Glasgow ABC, to a European stint with Enter Shikari and culminating an epic US tour, Twin Atlantic have already hit 17 countries this year and are becoming a truly world-beating band.
This summer will see the band playing their biggest shows yet: not only have they been personally invited to support The Gaslight Anthem on their UK tour (including stops at Glasgow Academy on 23 June and Brixton Academy on 29 June), but they have just been announced as support to blink-182 on their UK dates in Aberdeen, Glasgow and Dublin.
Sam McTrusty (vocals, guitar) said, “I think it's fair to say we are pretty shocked but really excited to
have been picked to support blink-182 this summer. Like most rock fans who were 13 in 1999, I was a massive fan of the band and I grew up with them being a soundtrack to pretty much everything thereafter. At the risk of sounding cheesy but being completely honest it is a little bit of a dream come true scenario.”
Twin Atlantic will also be appearing at a string of festivals across Europe this summer, including the main stage of Rockness on 13 June, the main stage of the 2000 Trees festival on 17 July, and headlining the Red Bull Bedroom Jam stage of the Hevy Festival on 7 August.
As a gift to fans, and to celebrate their massive summer shows, an exclusive Innerpartysystem remix of the ‘Vivarium’ mini-album track live favorite ‘Human After All’ plus a brand new video will be available to download from 21 June.
The band also filmed a documentary for Scuzz TV in New York on their first US tour with Fall of Troy and Envy on the Coast. The hour-long show includes live footage of their show in Irving Plaza, and will first be broadcast on Scuzz TV in June.

Twin Atlantic live this summer:
With The Gaslight Anthem:
22 June BIRMINGHAM Academy
23 June GLASGOW Academy
24 June MANCHESTER Academy
26 June LONDON Brixton Academy
29 June OXFORD Academy
1 July AMSTERDAM Melkweg

17 July 2000 TREES FESTIVAL Cheltenham
23 July REDFEST Redhill, Surrey
16 August ABERDEEN AECC (with blink-182)
17 August GLASGOW SECC (with blink-182)

Are You Shitting Me? Perez "Douchebag" Hilton has his own record label now?

Where the fuck is mine then, eh Warner?
Perez "Jerkbag" Hilton only ever talks about super fucking obvious and really fucking shitty pop acts that are only going to go somewhere because of gay guys who like to dance. Hey, nothing against gay guys who love to dance, but (judging by my friends at least) they will dance to ANYTHING... and come on, it's not like good beats are hard to make.
And yet this gets him a label?
I don't think the list of bands he's mentioned before they were actually huge were any surprises, anybody could have called them.
And if that's all it takes, I've been talking about pop punk bands for almost three years now and you know what? Every single band I mentioned loving back then has been signed since OR made it onto MTV programming of some sort.

Somebody punch Warner this time for just adding to the shit in music today.

With the release of their brand new album, New Inheritors, Wintersleep are very excited to hit the road and introduce fans to their new collection of songs. Praised as their “best release and playing to all of the band’s considerable strengths” No Depression raves “strong songs, great playing, daring arrangements, and impassioned singing throughout make this an indispensible album."

Beginning this Friday, June 4th in Philadelphia, PA, the Halifax rockers will join Matt Pond PA for a 4-week North American tour. In addition, the band will perform with The Hold Steady in Philadelphia on October 5th and at The Beacon Theatre in NYC on October 7th. New Inheritors is now available at your local retailer and on iTunes.

The follow up to the critically acclaimed album, Welcome To The Night Sky, which saw the band win a Juno Award for “Best New Band,” New Inheritors is an intoxicatingly beautiful album full of meticulously-crafted rock songs that may be some of the most
expansive and dynamic rock music you'll hear this year. Canada’s Globe and Mail raves “Grand, dramatic tension comes from the Halifax rockers who pair Verve‐like strings and staccato guitar riffs with words about an all‐consuming condition. This
thing hits like a heart attack on heroin” while One Mind Track goes on to say, “it’s easy to see why so many people fell in love with the band and why so many more will this time around.” London Tour Dates declares “Wintersleep have delivered one of the most fearless rock albums of the year.”

Would you like to listen to New Inheritors? Visit and for the rest of the week, you can preview the entire album right now at the Listening Party.

Last month before their performance at Truck Fest US, Wintersleep teamed up with the folks at Foglight Films and filmed this performance of their song "Preservation" with scenic Big Indian, NY serving as the backdrop for the clip.

Three decades after recording their first incendiary songs as teenagers reared in the budding hardcore scene in Los Angeles, Bad Religion are marking their 30 year anniversary with a new record, filled with both the free thinking ire that has fueled the band from the very beginning, and a certain introspection that comes only from long-lived experience.
"While we're celebrating our 30th anniversary as a band this year it's also a time when Greg and I have embarked on new creative pursuits which have informed our songwriting process. I'm a new parent again and Greg a new author having just
completed his first book Anarchy Evolution," says Gurewitz. "So the songs are a distillation of where we've been and who we are now...a natural evolution of creativity."
Working again with producer Joe Barresi (Queens Of The Stone Age, Tool), Bad Religion entered the studio armed with 16 songs that are filled with deeply personal experiences, cautionary tales and a developing worldview, spanning the gauntlet from their signature high energy punk rock to a more introspective melodic sound.
"We wouldn't embark on this new creative endeavor, Brett wouldn't have embarked on parenthood, I wouldn't have embarked on writing a book, if we hadn't reached a place in our lives where we felt the confidence that we had something to offer and that's what these songs represent," adds Graffin. "They represent a new found confidence that things are starting to make sense to us."

"Being a new parent has colored my whole world," continues Gurewitz. "As a result I've written songs that at least for me, are somewhat less angsty and more introspective and vulnerable. The experience has emboldened me to take some creative risks as a songwriter that I've not allowed myself to take before."
Risks that nevertheless have already been embraced by the band's passionate fans, as evidenced by the overwhelming response to two new songs, "Resist Stance" and "Won't
Somebody." The songs were debuted during a series of live shows celebrating Bad Religion's anniversary, recorded and given away as part of a free digital album, 30 Years Live, as a thank you to their fans for their support over the last three
decades. Rabid fans immediately lit up blogs and message boards with raves about the new material and excitement over the new record, which will be out this fall. In the meantime, Bad Religion continue to tour the world, bringing their amazing live show to more new countries and playing more shows with each passing year.

Stay tuned to and for updates and news about Bad Religion's new studio album!

The City Streets - "Musical Freedom Fighters" w/ The Jazz Age Release‏

“He said if you’re not careful this world will tear you all apart. It’ll lose your laugh, your identity for some wretched work of art. That the power created, the rest of us call it war. So tell me what this heart, tell me what this heart is for.” So goes the last track on The City Streets’ latest self-release The Jazz Age, acting as a flawless finale to an album so dead on in it’s delivery of the very being of rock and roll, it manages to pay both direct and indirect homage to the artists of days gone by who continue to tug at our heartstrings in all the right places.

Hailing from Edmonton, Alberta and now positioned in Montreal, The City Streets are a rare and unique breed, remaining unscathed from the all too often dogmatic music industry approach, managing to nurture a talent that is both raw and accessible. They have released two full length albums These Things Happen and Concentrated Living as well as an EP called If you don’t like The Clash you’re a bad person.

"You can blame the advent of irony, generational disillusionment or simply changing tastes but heart-on-it’s-sleeve rock ‘n’ roll often seems in short supply these days. In that sense a band like The City Streets could be looked on as musical freedom fighters, offering a version of rock ‘n’ roll that shows possibilities rather than dead ends, recklessness over restraint. They’re sensitive fuck ups, these boys, and The Jazz Age catches them at their most fragile and out-of-control.” - SEE Magazine

"This group is Alberta's only hope” - CBC Radio 3

Recorded with Jesse Gander (Ghost House, Bison, DBS) and mastered by JJ Golden (The New Pornographers, Sonic Youth, Eleni Mandell), The Jazz Age (out on June 1st) is 13 tracks about about fading beauty, strange madness, romantic idealism, glory nights, inherited sadness, epic failure, and love.

“Their songs—a tight mix of the hard social message of the Clash and the twang of Wilco—are spectacular” - VUE Weekly (cover story)

“Some Clash, some early Costello, a bottle of whiskey and you've got some idea where these hearts-on-their-sleeves, punk prairie boys are coming from.” - NOW Magazine

The City Streets have toured North America extensively, visiting almost every province and state at least once with stops at SXSW, NXNE, CMW, Pop Montreal, Halifax Pop Explosion, a week long stint in NYC with shows at CBGB’s and The Knitting Factory and a show in Juarez, Mexico. Comprised of Rick Reid (lyrics, vocals, guitar), Matt Leddy (bass, backup vocals), and Mark Chmilar (drums), catch the band live on one of their stops below, buy their album, and offer them a place to crash on your floor. Bands like this don’t come around very often.
