From the makers of AMERICAN HARDCORE a new project

LOST ROCKERS is the new film from Paul Rachman and Steven Blush, makers of AMERICAN HARDCORE the punk rock documentary that premiered at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival and was theatrically released by Sony Pictures Classics.

LOST ROCKERS reveals great musicians overlooked by pop culture. It offers insight into what it takes to “make it,” and why so many of equal talent to famous stars fall through the cracks. The film tells the life stories of these forgotten artists — of different eras, genres, creeds and orientations — from their doomed paths to fame to their ultimate redemption. You’ll experience amazing music you can’t believe you never heard.

LOST ROCKERS has only just begun. The first few interviews have been shot with many more to come, including famous rock stars commenting on their lesser-known contemporaries.

To reach out to the true music fans who can appreciate the stories in LOST ROCKERS, the filmmakers have launched a Kickstarter crowd sourcing campaign. Please click on the Kickstarter logo or link below to learn more, support the film and share with others. Help spread the word.

The Wind Up Radio Sessions Release Red Brick House

They say absence makes the heart grow fonder. Whether or not that’s true, spending time away from those close to you usually brings forth a wave of emotion. For Marc and Dan Kiely, brothers from the outskirts of the blue-collar hum of Hamilton, Ontario, they channeled these emotions into what would eventually become The Wind Up Radio Sessions, the latest in a long line of gorgeous and lush folk-pop emerging from north of the 49th parallel.

While exploring their own paths in life, Marc and Dan rarely saw each other. When they did however, they communicated through songs. They laid down dozens of home recordings which would serve as the framework for the band and slowly but surely, things were happening for the Kiely brothers.

Then, after moving to the creative hub of Montreal, all the pieces of the The Wind Up Radio Sessions fell into place. With Matt Lazenby, the three began pooling their collective musical interests and ideas into a seemingly perfect collaboration. Taking their precisely-crafted folk musings into the studio, the result is Red Brick House, out on March 23rd via No Map Records.

“...one of Montreal’s finest up-and-coming bands” - Meet You At The Show

“This is an album that grows on you more and more with each listen” - NxEW

With influences ranging from Tom Waits to Wilco and Neil Young, standout tracks like ‘Me And My Doe’, ‘Oh Well’ and ‘Photocopies’ expose the band’s gutsy and honest approach, their lack of musical pretentions and a sincerely deft touch. Having already gigged at legendary Canadian venues The Wind Up Radio Sessions are poised to bring their folk-pop expertise across Canada.

Fake Problems - Heartless

No, not a Kanye cover though that's what I assumed... about halfway through the song after waiting for "how could you be so heartless" to croon through the speakers I realized my error, and had to restart the song over.

Anyway, regardless it's good so listen to it HERE.

BALLSxDEEP!

Oh my god, it's like this band was created just for me. Mother fucking members from Spanish Gamble, Anchor Arms and Homemade Handgrenade have all splurged together and formed the band with THE best name I've ever heard: BALLSxDEEP!
I love it already. I wish I thought of calling my band that.... Battlescars in Africa is funky semen compared to BALLSxDEEP!

Go to punknews.org for more information on their sound and release because I'm still too hung up on the name to move on right now.

CIRCA SURVIVE UNVEIL ATLANTIC DEBUT

BAND REVEALS NEW MUSIC ON CIRCASURVIVE.COM
CROSS COUNTRY TREK WITH COHEED & CAMBRIA SET FOR SPRING
“BLUE SKY NOISE” ARRIVES EVERYWHERE ON APRIL 20TH

Atlantic recording group Circa Survive has announced the upcoming release of their major label debut, “BLUE SKY NOISE.” Produced by three-time Grammy winner David Bottrill (Tool, Muse, King Crimson) and mixed by Rich Costey (Interpol, The Mars Volta, Rage Against The Machine), the highly anticipated collection arrives in stores and at online retailers on April 20th.
To give fans an early taste of what they can expect on the forthcoming album, the Doylestown, PA-based quintet has posted the album track, “Get Out” on their official website, www.CircaSurvive.com. “Get Out” is the first new music unveiled from “BLUE SKY NOISE,” and exclusively available for immediate download when fans preorder the album. A digital copy of “BLUE SKY NOISE” will be delivered one week before the April 20th street date for all preordered albums. Other bonuses include exclusive band merchandise and limited edition items. For complete album preorder details, please visit www.CircaSurvive.com.
To celebrate the release of “BLUE SKY NOISE,” Circa Survive will be heading on cross-country trek supporting Coheed & Cambria. The tour will kick off in Charlotte, NC at The Fillmore Charlotte on April 22nd and continue through a finale in Washington, DC at the 9:30 Club on May 27th (dates below) – tickets go on sale this Saturday, February 20.
The tour with Coheed & Cambria follows a run of shows in March that include a number of headlining dates, marquee performances at the annual South By Southwest Music Festival in Austin, TX, topping the bill at The Hoodwink in Anaheim, CA, and a featured slot at The Bamboozle West.
Circa Survive has emerged one of the most visionary and forward-thinking young bands in contemporary rock music today. Founded in 2004, Circa Survive unleashed its acclaimed debut, “JUTURNA,” the following year via Equal Vision Records. The album – coupled with the band’s relentless touring – saw the birth of a fervent fan following, one which would catapult 2007’s sophomore release, “ON LETTING GO,” to a top 30 chart debut on the Billboard 200. A remarkably volatile live act, Circa Survive has headlined numerous sold out tours while also sharing stages with an array of like-minded artists, including My Chemical Romance, Coheed & Cambria, The Gaslight Anthem, Pelican, Rise Against, and countless others. The band has additionally performed at a wide range of festivals including multiple appearances at The Bamboozle and on Vans Warped Tour. What’s more, Circa Survive was among the most well-received acts at the 2007 Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, prompting Spin to praise frontman Anthony Green’s “crystalline, soprano vocals” which “whip out above the fracas, weaving in and out between Circa’s dueling guitars.”

Circa Survive is: Nick Beard (bass), Steve Clifford (drum), Brendan Ekstrom (guitar), Colin Frangicetto (guitar), Anthony Green (vocals).

Pennywise name Zoli Teglas as new lead singer... officially.

PENNYWISE OFFICIALLY NAME ZOLI TEGLAS AS NEW LEAD SINGER
BAND CURRENTLY IN THE STUDIO WORKING ON NEW MATERIAL
PENNYWISE EUROPEAN TOUR KICKS OFF THIS APRIL
SHORT RUN OF WEST COAST WARM UP DATES BEGIN MARCH 17
South Bay punk pioneers Pennywise have announced that Zoli Teglas of Orange County’s Ignite, is the band’s new and permanent lead singer.
After months of searching, the members of Pennywise announced that Ignite vocalist Zoli Teglas is now officially the new front man. Teglas, a longtime friend and tour mate, recently played a handful of So Cal shows with Pennywise, including the 2009 Smokeout Festival and a sold out Holiday Benefit concert for Amnesty International at Long Beach Arena.
Teglas will join Pennywise on its upcoming European tour which kicks off this April. That tour will be preceded by a few warm up West Coast dates that start on March 17 in San Diego, CA. Pennywise is currently at work on a new record, its first featuring the new lineup.
After the sudden departure of former singer Jim Lindberg, a member of Pennywise for 19 years, guitarist Fletcher Dragge called Teglas a “natural choice” to take over vocal duties for the band.
Bassist Randy Bradbury explains, “What started out as a temporary position was just too good to put an end to. Zoli brings to the table a tremendous vocal ability, creativity, and a die hard work ethic. There is a bond that makes this change feel like it was simply meant to be, and considering the recent unfortunate events, having Zoli join the band is a well needed shot of positive energy.”
Teglas was excited to take the stage with his friends, noting, "I'm stoked to be singing with Pennywise. I'm a huge fan of the band and am super grateful to share the stage with my long time friends Fletcher, Byron and Randy."
Calling it quits was never in the cards for the remaining members of Pennywise. “We love this, we love going on the road,” Dragge explained to AP back in August ’09. “There's nothing more important to me than being on stage in front of our fans and having them sing our lyrics back at us and feel the energy. This has become so much bigger than just us as a band. It's become a family and a brotherhood of people that I feel depend on us. I'm still here to continue to deliver the message as are Byron and Randy. Our motto is to follow your dreams and pursue them. Don't waste time because if you're wasting time on something you're not into, then you're not living. We're going to go out there and have fun doing what we love until it stops being fun.
Pennywise is one of the most significant bands to emerge from Southern California’s second wave of punk rock. Formed in 1988 in Hermosa Beach, California, Pennywise has released nine full-length studio albums; one live album; two extended plays; and one DVD. Their most recent studio effort, Reason to Believe, was released to over 500,000 fans for free through a limited offering from MySpace Records. The critically acclaimed album was also sold physically and digitally the world over. “The Western World,” the first single from this watershed album, quickly became the most successful single of the band’s storied career.
Founded when punk rock couldn’t be less popular and hair bands were in fashion, Pennywise quickly developed a style entirely its own--a tsunami of California hardcore, melodic surf punk and optimistic anthems that went against the seek-and-destroy ethos of its era.
“We’ve done things our own way,” Dragge points out, “and we’ve never taken no for answer. We’ve been a punk band for 20 years, and we’ve traveled the world and we’ve had a lot of people tell us what we could and couldn’t do. ‘Tell me what we can’t do, and I’ll try twice as hard to do it.’ That’s the one thing this band has taught me: ‘If you want it bad enough, you can have it.”

FOXY SHAZAM SET TO RELEASE SELF-TITLED SIRE RECORDS DEBUT APRIL 13, 2010

NATION WIDE TOUR KICKS OFF MARCH 15TH 2010
Inimitable rock ‘n’ soul sextet Foxy Shazam has announced the release of their self-titled Sire Records album on April 13, 2010. Produced by John Feldmann, Foxy Shazam is the Cincinnati, OH band’s major label debut.
To support the album, Foxy Shazam will be taking their good times mobile with a nationwide headlining tour this March and April. Stops in New York, Los Angeles and a stint at the SXSW Music Conference in Austin, TX will give fans a chance to experience their notoriously rambunctious live show. Prior to their US dates, Foxy will be heading across the pond to play the NME Awards show with Hole on February 17th.
Citing influences as varied as Marvin Gaye, Elton John and “Born To Run”-era Bruce Springsteen, Foxy Shazam has been creating unique, genre-defying music since they formed in 2004. From the anthemic “Unstoppable” to doo wop power ballad “Bye Bye Symphony” and the swooning “Connect Me,” Foxy Shazam is an amalgam of blues, soul, and brash pop bound by a no holds barred punk-rock aesthetic.
Their songs “glitter like diamonds and kick like mules” said SPIN magazine, who named the band one of 10 Artists to Watch in 2010 in their December/January issue, and Simon Price of the London Observer declared “their ability to knock out killer tunes, wickedly witty wordplay and exuberantly maximalist sound (Andrew WK meets Dexys meets Springsteen) has already caused ripples, but it's on stage that they'll really blow your mind. Foxy Shazam are the band who ought to be all over next summer's festivals, painting smiles on everyone's faces."
Foxy Shazam’s debut single “Unstoppable” was featured on Sunday’s broadcast of the 44th annual Superbowl. The track is currently available for sale exclusively on iTunes: http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/unstoppable-single/id351170337. Fans not on Foxy’s tour route can watch a live performance of new song “Only Way to My Heart” here:

TDF has quickly built a loyal fan base and quite the buzz. Citing influences ranging from Green Day to The Rolling Stones, the pop-rock trio has a sound comparable to the likes of Jimmy Eat World, Blink 182, and The All-American Rejects.
Formed in the summer of 2008 by Cameron Leahy (vocals/guitar) and Eric Jones (drums), the two posted three demos on their MySpace and were blown away by the response. Soon after, they recruited friend David Pavluk on bass and backing vocals to round out the trio.
Last year the group released its self-titled debut EP on iTunes to rave reviews. Instantly peaking at #22 on the overall iTunes charts, it was made aware that TDF was something special. Thanks to their catchy pop melodies, clever lyrics, and witty YouTube videos, the band quickly moved into the Top 25 unsigned artists chart on Myspace.com with nearly 2.5 million plays on MySpace all in a year’s time. The young trio found additional success on TV, having songs featured in E!'s Keeping Up with the Kardashians, MTV's The Hills, The Real World, and the final song of the season finale of Styl'd.
The Downtown Fiction will be performing at SXSW in Austin, TX next month, after which they will head out on the Class of 2010 Tour with Stephen Jerzak and Stereo Skyline, followed by a run on the Vans Warped Tour (see dates below.)

Three tracks off of the upcoming EP can be streamed now at www.myspace.com/thedowntownfiction.

Grand Scale Indeed

Uhh meet Grand Scale, Toronto's latest and greatest phenomenon.
Just when you thought it couldn't get any better than Down With Webster (well, maybe you didn't think that, but I did) Grand Scale explodes onto the scene and all over your tits, throwing down bigger beats and balls than D-dub can toss out.
Think Tall Guy Short Guy but less gay (still gay, just less gay) and more drunk and rowdy - music that sluts can really shake their butts to - rep'n New Order style 80's electronic disco club beats backed with gang vocals and a shit load of hype.. all of that on top of Aspirations-like punk undertones

Their first ever EP, Fast Time at Parkdale High, was recorded entirely in the groups living room, and produced by one of their own, Matt Scholey.
Check them out on their MYSPACE, search their page on FACEBOOK, and keep an eye out for their debut Toronto show.

I'm Sarah. I do what I want.

BLEEDING THROUGH TOUR AND NEW ALBUM ANNOUNCED

Rise Records and Bleeding Through are pleased to announce "The Spring Breakdown Tour: 2010". Bleeding Through is one of the most important bands to take the mixture of metal and hardcore to international prominence in the last decade, touring with Slayer, Marilyn Manson, Bullet For My Valentine, AFI, HIM, Cradle Of Filth, Ozzfest, Vans Warped Tour and MTV2’s Headbanger’s Ball: The Tour.

Currently on a European tour supporting Machine Head, Bleeding Through commence the new decade with a US headlining tour in support of their upcoming release which is in stores April 13th. Their ominously self-titled new album, their first for Rise Records, is the perfect distillation of their past with a solid look forward to the future: dark, aggressive, full of rage and sorrow. Look for Bleeding Through, Born of Osiris, Sleeping Giant, Oceano and fellow Rise supporting band Legend at your favorite venue this spring! Bleeding Through also posted a new song from the album called, "Anti-Hero" on their MySpace page which features their new album artwork and exclusive pre-order bundle packages.

About Foxy Shazam:
Hello, my name is Eric Nally and I am the singer and founding member of this rabble-rousing pack of fucks they call Foxy Shazam. Our other five members are (in alphabetical order): Daisy (bass) Aaron McVeigh (drums), Alex Nauth (horns) Loren Turner (guitar) and Sky White (piano). I love them but before I get into their story, I would like to spend a little time on myself: I am twenty-four years old, the father of two boys, Julian Michael and Francis Jordan, as well as a loving husband to Karen Nally. This creates an interesting contrast to my career as a professional musician.
I grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio, and was one of two white boys in an all-black high school. The band name Foxy Shazam came from a saying in my school meaning, “cool shoes.” If you had cool shoes kids would say those are “foxy shazam.” Because of this we have a lot of soul, and try to let it bleed through our music as much as possible. Mom and Dad were pretty poor as I was growing up but always supported my musical interests nonetheless. In the early years they bought my band cheap guitars and amps and drove us to shows in the family Thunderbird. I owe them big time and will someday repay them.
Now that you know a little about my history, I would like to talk about my bandmates. Alex, our trumpet player is my right hand man and as a matter of fact he is transcribing this for me right now. Alex is classically trained, has a likable personality and is easy to get along with. We picked him up on the corner of Hollywood and Las Palmas a couple of years into the band’s existence and I feel like his horn playing has added to the uniqueness of our sound. I meet a lot of people that think horns are stupid, but he’s going to change that!
Loren, our guitar player is a weird guy to get the hang of and he’s very quiet. Everyone that meets him gets the impression that he’s mad at them but that’s not the case, it’s just the way his face looks. He loves Dimebag Darrell and I love the influence that gives him in his guitar playing.
Daisy, our bass player has been in the band for about three years. To be honest, I don’t know too much about him and I like him like that. That’s what makes him Daisy. However, I do know that his contribution to our band is enormous and without him we would not sound the way that we do.
Aaron our drummer is the newest member of the band. The position of Foxy’s drummer, until Aaron, has been one that is filled temporarily but never permanently. I would never be caught dead in the clothes he wears but, hey, to each his own. His drum playing is not fancy but it’s extremely solid and is exactly what we’ve been looking for all these years.
Last but not least is Sky White, our pianist who is trained in classical and jazz performance. I remember Loren and I went to a show his old band was playing and the second I saw him stand on his keyboard with a piñata on his head I knew we had to get him in Foxy Shazam. It didn’t take too much convincing and a week later we were recording our first album Flamingo Trigger (which came out in 2005) and went on to do Introducing (2008). Our self-titled major label debut is coming out now.
When I listen to a Foxy Shazam record I think of Evel Knievel, Bruce Springsteen, my childhood, Van Morrison, my old friends from high school I don’t talk to anymore, Elton John, the ’50s, ’60s, ’70s, ’80s, ’90s and beyond, Iggy Pop and my first kiss. One of my favorite things to do when listening to my music is to close my eyes and picture a crowd of six million people all chanting “Foxy! Foxy! Foxy!” The lights go out and my band walks on stage. It gives me goose bumps. It all makes sense to me. When you listen to our record, think of your favorite things and it’ll make sense to you as well.
Foxy Shazam is not concerned with what category it falls into. We want to stand for our generation.
We want to be the biggest band in the world.
We are the Michael Jordan of Rock N’ Roll.
