SHERWOOD LAUNCHES U.S. HEADLINING TOUR FEBRUARY 17 IN LOS ANGELES

BAND TOURING IN SUPPORT OF ITS LATEST RELEASE QU...AVAILABLE EVERYWHERE NOW
VIDEO FOR “YOU ARE” PREMIERES ON MYSPACE MUSIC FEBRUARY 12, CLIP DIRECTED BY MATT WIGNALL (COLD WAR KIDS)

Sherwood, purveyors of feel good California rock, will be hitting the road launching a U.S. headlining tour in support of its most recent effort QU. The tour kicks off February 17 in Los Angeles at the famed Roxy Theater.
A Beach Boys-inspired power pop band hailing from San Luis Obispo, California, Sherwood came together in 2002 while the band members were still students at the local university. Now signed to Myspace Records, they’ve released their debut Summer EP followed by two full length releases (Sing, But Keep Going in 2005 and 2007’s A Different Light).
QU, released October 2009, is the band’s third full length and is arguably Sherwood’s most mature and accessible yet, as its undeniable pop sensibilities showcase a band coming into its own and fully realizing its potential. Fans have noticed, as Sherwood’s MySpace page has logged an astounding 18 million plays, making it the third largest MySpace profile in the world.
Teaming up with producer Brad Wood ( Liz Phair, Smashing Pumpkins and Sunny Day Real Estate) in a rented Oakland apartment for nine months, the band amassed 85 songs that were eventually whittled down to 12 unabashed power pop songs that made the final cut.
Sherwood’s brand new music video for the song "You Are" will world premiere on MySpace Music on February 12. The video was directed by Long Beach hipster Matt Wignall who also produced music and videos for Cold War Kids.

DENMARK’S QUADRON FEATURED “TOP TUNE” ARTIST OF THE DAY ON KCRW; SONG “AVERAGE FRUIT” OFFERED AS FREE DOWNLOAD

BAND’S SELF-TITLE DEBUT AVAILABLE MARCH 23 ON PLUG RESEARCH

Quadron, a soulful, experimental duo from Copenhagen, Denmark was the featured “Top Tune” artist of the day Monday on acclaimed radio station KCRW. The band’s track “Average Fruit” was offered all day as a free download and is now available via podcast.
According to Quadron’s Robin Hannibal, “the song is about finding what you believe in, and what your heart beats for. No matter if that is working in a supermarket, or as a rocket scientist. Heavily inspired by Charles Stepney string arrangements, the beat is a take on a modern version of a syncopated African rhythm.”
“Morning Becomes Eclectic” and “Today’s Top Tune” producer Ariana Morgenstern says of Quadron: “Danish duo Quadron provides a soulful mix of down-tempo beats with beautiful arrangements and orchestrations. Our intrepid DJ Anthony Valadez got his hands on an early copy and started slipping it into the mix here at KCRW. Soon enough, just about every DJ here got behind it. Thanks to Anthony, a U.S. release of their debut is coming soon.”
Morgenstern praises the band’s laid back, lounge sound for aptly representing a cross section of KCRW’s eclectic music format. Other notable tastemakers that are fans include Pharrell Williams of N.E.R.D. and James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem, as well as Gilles Peterson of BBC radio who picked the track "Day" as one of his faves of 2009.
Singer Coco also sites “Day” as her favorite song as well. “I love that it is the slowest song, but still the one that i can dance the best to. I love to sing it live, and it almost makes me cry every time.”
Lauded KCRW DJ Raul Campos of KCRW put Quadron in his Top 10 of 2009, noting, “It's rare to come across a full-length release that is stellar from beginning to end,” Campos says of the duo’s music. “The lush beats from Robin Hannibal and Coco’s beautiful vocals make Quadron a winner. With songs that are so full of emotion and life, this one is an instant classic in my book."
Quadron was formed when Robin met Coco, a 16-year-old ingénue influenced by such artists as Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, and especially Lauryn Hill. As the duo started working together, they took their time, slowly forming the lush, groovy sound that encompasses Quadron.
Five years later, their self-titled debut will be released in the States via Los Angeles based label, Plug Research on March 23, 2010.

TAKE ACTION TOUR KICKED OFF YESTERDAY IN ATLANTA

The 2010 Sub City Take Action Tour, presented by Hot Topic, kicks off today in Atlanta, GA! The 2010 lineup features We The Kings, Mayday Parade, A Rocket To The Moon, There For Tomorrow, Call The Cops, and Stereo Skyline. The annual nationwide charity tour, now in its ninth year, raises funds and awareness for youth involvement in charitable action.
In an effort to make a difference throughout the Take Action Tour, Sub City along with DoSomething.org and Driving For Donors have organized a series of charity events that allow bands to participate in local communities and take action. The bands will be visiting children's hospitals in Seattle, Salt Lake City, Denver, and Texas for special meet & greets with patients, as well as an acoustic performance to brighten their day.
In addition to off-site charity events throughout the tour, We The Kings, Mayday Parade, A Rocket To The Moon, There For Tomorrow, Call The Cops, and Stereo Skyline will be making special signing appearances at select Hot Topic stores. Dates can be found below.
To celebrate the kick-off of the tour, our friends over at Music Skins have graciously offered to donate 5% of gross sales from their website on January 26 to the Take Action cause, to help further the message of taking action! Visit musicskins.com today to get your Take Action skins and many more!
The charity spotlighted for Take Action in 2010 is Driving For Donors, the brainchild of now 14-year-old Patrick Pedraja who was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia at age 10. In 2007, at age 11, Patrick and his family started Driving For Donors and traveled around the country in a special “Donormobile” with the mission of signing people up for the National Marrow Registry to help find bone marrow matches for people in need of a transplant. Since then they have added over 22,000 donors to the registry and saved more than 24 people’s lives with matches. Sub City has raised millions of dollars and awareness for various charitable organizations that aim to make the world a better place and 5% of the suggested retail price for each Take Action Volume 9 set sold will be donated to further this cause.
10% of the cost of each ticket sold is donated to further Patrick's mission making each person attending the Take Action Tour an active participant in making the world a better place. In addition, Take Action is offering fans an opportunity to personally help save a life with onsite registration for the National Marrow Registry available at every tour stop. Registration is simple and only requires the donor to be between the ages of 18 and 61, have a desire to help save a life, and have time for a quick cheek swab and simple paperwork. Registering is much easier than most people think and information about the entire process can be found at BeTheMatch.org. Those that register will be given an exclusive Take Action Tour bracelet at the show! Those under 18 will have plenty of ways to support the cause as well, including buying a copy of the compilation or simply by texting! Fans can text "ACTION" to 85944 to donate directly to supporting this years cause! Those that text to give will also receive an exclusive Take Action bracelet, by visiting the Take Action merch booth at the show. Learn more about this years cause at each show or by visiting drivingfordonors.com.
The highly anticipated Take Action Volume 9 charity compilation is currently available via pre-sale at takeactiontour.com. For $6 fans can pre-order the 2CD set and for $12 they will also receive, in addition to the two disc set, a special Take Action shirt. The tour compilation will be available at shows and in stores February 9, and will include exclusive songs, acoustics, and remix tracks from We The Kings, Mayday Parade, 30H!3, Cobra Starship, Taking Back Sunday, There For Tomorrow, Frank Turner, The Friday Night Boys, Anarbor, and Hit The Lights, among others.
Take Action thanks, our many great sponsors of the tour. Presenting sponsor Hot Topic has worked with the Take Action Tour since the tour's inception in 1999 and their commitment to helping make a positive impact continues to be as strong in 2010 as it has ever been. The music lifestyle mall retailer (hottopic.com) is a natural fit as a presenter, because they demonstrate a passion for music in everything they do. Expect to find the Take Action Compilation Volume 9 in your local Hot Topic store. Also generously supporting the 2010 tour is MySpace Music, Alternative Press Magazine, Absolutepunk.net, Touch Tunes, Go Merch, Hopeless Records, S-Curve Records, Atlantic Records, Fueled By Ramen Records, and MySpace Records.
To date, Sub City, a registered 501c3 organization, has raised nearly $2 million for various charitable organizations; much of that a result of Take Action, driving home the fact that we can all help bring forth change and that making a difference can be as fun and easy as buying a CD or concert ticket.

Twin Atlantic Announce First US Tour This Spring!

Scottish rockers Twin Atlantic will make their long-awaited US touring debut this spring opening a national co-headlining tour with The Fall Of Troy and Envy On The Coast. Recently featured on the cover of the UK's celebrated Rock Sound Magazine, Twin Atlantic will showcase songs from their debut mini-album Vivarium on stages from coast to coast, including a stop at SXSW.
Twin Atlantic have shared stages with Smashing Pumpkins, Circa Survive and Taking Back Sunday in the past and recently received praise from Alternative Press, Nylon and more. Check out video of the band's impressive live performances and the new video for the song "What Is Light? Where Is Laughter?" here.
Some praise for Twin Atlantic live
"When the boys wail into the microphone, it feels like a direct transfusion of the feelings in their guts. This is what you want to listen to when you'’re scared. This is what you want to listen to when you'’re tired, but can’t be. This is what you want to listen to when you're about to do something big." - Nylon Magazine
"It's a dizzying rush of thundering drums, drilling basslines and electrifying riffs. There's a surprise around every turn, a king-size chorus here, a sudden pause, swooping solo or heart-stopping stage dive there. This is Twin Atlantic live and it's an experience not to be missed." -Scotland's News of the World
"Those present witness a beautifully subtle combination of killer melodies, jerky, asymmetrical riffs and charisma and energy to spare. The gorgeous light and shade suggests world-beating things to come..."- Kerrang !

A HERO A FAKE AND FREYA NEW RELEASES AVAILABLE NOW

A HERO A FAKE is back with their sophomore release Let Oceans Lie. Their tech-inspired new album combines the band’s thrashy guitar passages with layered poly-rhythmic drums and gripping vocals that are sure to turns heads. The engaging and challenging venture is as complex as it is catchy. Technical metal and progressive rock fans alike will appreciate and respect the whirlwind of fresh talent that A HERO A FAKE have displayed with Let Oceans Lie. This is a must-own for fans of BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME and THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA.

All Hail The End, the commanding new effort from metal masters FREYA is also available. Their new concept record ferociously takes listeners on a grim journey into humanity’s dark past with harsh lyrics from EARTH CRISIS frontman, Karl Buechner. All Hail The End brings elements of SLAYER, LAMB OF GOD, HATEBREED, and TESTAMENT together to create a powerful force that could only be crafted by FREYA.

Both of these fantastic new albums are in stores and available digitally now.

ICONIC ROCK FIGURE AND LEGENDARY GUITARIST SLASH IN RARE ONE-ON-ONE AT CANADIAN MUSIC WEEK 2010

Thursday, March 11, 2010 - 4:00PM - Fairmont Royal York Hotel
A musician, artist and iconic rock figure, Slash is recognized as an indelible force in the world of music today. Time Magazine recently chose him as one of the best electric guitarists of all time, along with Hendrix himself. To us, he is the man who defined the sound of Guns N' Roses and the last great guitar god. With album sales nearing the 100 million mark, seven Grammy nominations, and countless music projects, Slash will be sharing memories and insights on life, love and playing loud during a very special in-depth celebrity interview at Canadian Music Week on Thursday, March 11, 2010.
Since bursting onto the scene in 1985 with Guns N' Roses, Slash has become one of the most admired virtuoso axmen of the century, providing some of rock's greatest anthems. From the unforgettable licks of GN'R classics "Welcome to the Jungle", "You Could Be Mine", and "Sweet Child O' Mine" to Michael Jackson's "Black or White", to his latest offerings with Velvet Revolver, his trademark sound is unmistakable.
A principle and founding member of Guns N' Roses, Slash was instrumental in fueling the band's debut album Appetite For Destruction to critical acclaim, becoming the second highest selling debut of all time and remaining as one of rock's most revered albums. During his time with GN'R, the band released five studio albums, two EPs, one live album, and three music video DVDs.
After departing the group in 1995, Slash formed his own band Slash's Snakepit and released two albums. In 2003 he formed Velvet Revolver with ex-GN'R members Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum. Their debut release Contraband reached multi-platinum success and earned the band a 2005 Grammy Award for "Best Hard Rock Performance" for the track "Slither".
Throughout his career, Slash has performed and recorded with some of the most distinguished names in music including Michael Jackson, Bob Dylan, James Brown, and Ray Charles. As a musical director at the 2005 Grammy Awards telecast, Slash led Stevie Wonder, Bono, Brian Wilson, and Steven Tyler from Aerosmith through a stirring rendition of The Beatles' classic "Across The Universe".
At the invitation of several film producers and directors, Slash began scoring music for feature films as well as writing and recording songs for soundtracks. His compositions can be heard throughout the award-winning biopic Ray, as well as box-office blockbusters The Hulk, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Big Daddy, Jackie Brown and Interview With The Vampire. In 2003, he picked up a Grammy nomination for his impassioned interpretation of the Godfather theme, a contribution to the soundtrack for The Kid Stays in the Picture, a documentary about celebrated film producer and his long-time friend, Robert Evans.
In April 2010, Slash will be releasing his debut self-titled solo album through Universal Music. Featuring collaborative performances with some of music's legendary greats and leading contemporaries, the album is certain to become an essential release on many a rock fan's lists.
To see Slash in this rare opportunity, visit the Canadian Music Week website - ww.cmw.net - to register for your Canadian Music Week delegate pass, or purchase a limited ticket to this individual event.

RIP These Arms Are Snakes

Yep, that's right, they've broken up.
This is a statement from the band found on punknews.org:
It's with a heavy heart we tell you that These Arms Are Snakes is no more. It's been a great run and we'd like to send out a very hearty "Thank You" to everyone that we've worked with or anyone that we've toured with; anyone that lent us a floor, towed our van and/or trailer, lent a van, given us a listen, downloaded our records prior to their coming out, bought our shit, or asked us where our band name came from; everyone who cooked us food, made habanero-infused tequila, had a safety meeting with us, let Steve gyrate all over you, had to live with any of us, made us pay shitloads of money to get off your punk label, got us into LOST, found Steve drunkenly wandering the streets of Tokyo alone, played Madlibs in the van (plural nouns), lost money promoting one of our shows, took Chris to the hospital, put up with our drunken sorry asses, got into a fight with us, etc. etc.

Lead singer wiL Francis expressed his feelings with us regarding the upcoming event, "How many times can I say that I'm excited to play a show before it becomes insincere? I don't believe I can answer that with an honest response. You'll just have to attend the show or watch the footage to witness my regard for the energy and passion that specific night creates. See you all in Chicago.”

In addition Take Action is offering fans an opportunity to personally help save a life with onsite registration for the National Marrow Registry available at every tour stop. Registration is simple and only requires the donor to be between the ages of 18 and 61, have a desire to help save a life, and have time for a quick cheek swab and simple paperwork. Registering is much easier than most people think and information about the entire process can be found at BeTheMatch.org. Those under 18 will have plenty of ways to support the cause as well, including buying a copy of the compilation, and they can learn more at each show or by visiting drivingfordonors.com.
Expect to find the Take Action Compilation Volume 9 in local Hot Topic stores and to see the bands from the tour making several special appearances throughout the tour. Also generously supporting the 2010 tour is MySpace Music, Alternative Press Magazine, Absolutepunk.net, Touch Tunes, Hopeless Records, S-Curve Records, Atlantic Records, Fueled By Ramen Records, and MySpace Records.

HOPELESS RECORDS TO RELEASE ALL TIME LOW MTV UNPLUGGED CD/DVD SET TOMORROW

STREAM THE ALBUM NOW ON AOL

This past summer, Baltimore pop-punk band All Time Low stripped down their songs to just an essential heartbeat, exclusively for MTV Unplugged. The band’s set was shot in New York City where they took their high-energy performance down a notch in a candle-lit studio for some very fortunate fans who intently sung along.
That performance is now available for fans in digipak DVD/CD format, which includes a bonus interview section and never-before-seen outtakes from the MTV special, featuring All Time Low playing two new songs off their latest album Nothing Personal (“Damned If I Do Ya, Damned If I Don’t” and “Weightless”) in addition to favorites from their previous releases So Wrong, It's Right and Put Up Or Shut Up (“Dear Maria, Count Me In”, “Coffee Shop Soundtrack”, “Jasey Rae”, and a surprise duet with Kate Voegele on “Remembering Sunday.”)
