Breathe Electric is wrapping up time in the studio where the Chicago band has been recording new tracks. Their next single, “Electronic Lover” will be available via iTunes in the next few weeks.
Gearing to tour throughout the rest of the year, the band kicks off a slew of club dates beginning Halloween at Mojoe’s in Orland Park outside Chicago. On November 15 in Seattle, the band will hit the road with Brokencyde and The Ready Set, followed by dates as direct support for Jeffree Star beginning December 2 in Baltimore.
Breathe Electric was formed in 2007 as the brainchild of Grant Harris. The electro-pop outfit released its self-produced debut EP Honestly and quickly gained momentum with extensive touring playing alongside bands like Never Shout Never, The Secret Handshake, and Automatic Loveletter, in addition to dates on this past summer’s Vans Warped Tour transforming each show into a non-stop dance party.
Within a year, Honestly would sell over 20,000 single downloads from iTunes and 5,000 physical copies independently through touring, online retailers including and Hot Topic locations across the country. After garnering recognition from various established music webzines including and being noted as a “Buzz Seeker” artist on The Daily Chorus, Harris entered into the studio with producer Ian Kirkpatrick to record the latest installment of infectious pop that would become the Emotion EP.

L.A. buzz band Nico Vega is currently on a headlining tour, including a homecoming Halloween show at Club Nokia with rockers Chevelle, before jumping on tour with Inward Eye, and Neon Trees.
As the trio’s latest single “Gravity” is taking off on alternative radio, the group will be filming the song’s video in November.
The band (singer Aja Volkman, guitarist Rich Koehler and drummer Dan Epand) has made a name for itself thanks in part to its blistering and in-your-face live show highlighted by dynamic frontwoman Aja Volkman’s volatile stage presence. Filter described the band as "a musical, mythical beast” while 944 Magazine heralded them as a "brutal love triangle of rock, funk and blues" and congratulated the trio for its "wide musical scope, which stretches from stomach-scraping soul to unrelenting rage." The NY Post called Aja "insanely spirited," comparing her to Janis Joplin and Karen O.
Having worked with producers Linda Perry (Pink, Gwen Stefani) and Tim Edgar (Earl Greyhound), and mixer Tchad Blake (Pearl Jam, Elvis Costello, Peter Gabriel), Nico Vega channels a classic swagger a la Led Zeppelin and adds soaring, soulful vocals somewhere between Fiona Apple and PJ Harvey.
Over the summer the band’s song “Beast” was featured in the horror film The Collector and now Aja is preparing to leap headfirst onto the silver screen herself, making her acting debut co-starring in the upcoming Dane Cook movie Answers To Nothing where her shockingly gritty scenes will definitely not be forgotten anytime soon. Aja will play Tara, the mistress who is also a musician, and Nico Vega will sport cameos in the movie.

It wasn’t too long ago that Said The Whale treated some lucky media, industry, and friends to a private boat cruise on a 68-foot antique yacht to preview their album Islands Disappear. They made the trip around English Bay with Camilo (the magician in which the first single is named after), and while this party was a small one, this release has been anything but.

Following the October 13th release Islands Disappear quickly climbed the itunes charts hitting #1 on the alternative chart and #5 on the album chart all in the span of two days. Said The Whale were nominated for a Verge Artist of the Year award for the second year in a row, landed on the cover of The Georgia Straight, were invited to play the Edge 102.1 studios, and received a plug from George Stroumboulopoulos himself on The Hour. Album copies are quickly selling off the shelves in record stores across the country, and the media is all over them.

"There isn't a bad song in this bunch. Said The Whale have gone and made a career-defining album much sooner, I'd say, than anyone expected them to."
- CHARTattack

"Camilo (The Magician) is probably the jam of the year when it comes to Canadian indie rock"
- HeroHill

On top of all of this , the video for the ‘Camilo (The Magician) was recently released and basically it’s so cute it hurts. Directed by Adam Christl and produced by 3:AM Design, for your viewing pleasure you can check it out here:

Statement from Andrew Wetzel in Attack Attack! re: Nick Barham’s recent departure from the band:
Why hello boys and girls!
Thought we'd throw you all a quick little update about what's currently going on in the AA! lineup.
The band and Nick parted ways recently in a mutually agreed non-explosive fashion, which we all believe is the best for both sides.
Caleb is going to retire his keys and start screaming in the front of the band.
We DO NOT have a new person in our band.
Don't worry, our music will still be full of Caleb's programming, keys, and all the good things he concocts. It will just be back-tracked live with the 808 samples and other nonsense on my iPod.
Anyways, we're not gonna stop touring, playing shows, and having a generally wonderful time with all of you.
See you in your town soon!

Rise Records Signs Continuance

Rise Records is proud to welcome Indiana hardcore band CONTINUANCE to its family. Featuring members of MEANS and SAINTS NEVER SURRENDER.
Continuance will release their debut album in the Spring of 2010. Look for them on tour this Fall.

Glaswegian rockers Twin Atlantic recently released their debut mini-album Vivarium. After sharing stages with the likes of Smashing Pumpkins, Circa Survive and Taking Back Sunday on top of impressive performances at Download Festival and T in the Park, the band has already received an enthusiastic response from fans and critics alike. The band will tour the US this fall, dates to be announced soon.
Check out videos for the band’s latest tracks “Lightspeed” and “What is Light? Where is Laughter," which showcase their explosive live show, and more at or
“This is what you want to listen to when you're about to do something big.”
– Nylon Magazine
“There’s something gloriously impassioned about Sam McTrusty’s vocals. Yearning, searching, hoping and, above all, real. It’s a trait reflected in the music his band make. Inventive and thrusting it always goes somewhere, building from pointed beginnings into something more transcendent.”
– Kerrang!
“They are, quite simply, the most exciting new rock band to emerge in years.”
– News of the World

Sole & The Skyrider Band: Plastique

Sole, one of the founding members of the Anticon collective and a fundamental figure in the experimental hip hop movement, returns with his Skyrider Band on his most cohesive and dynamic project to date. Out today via Fake Four Inc, Plastique is an album full of reflections on the postmodern mess that is the “me” generation.
“This type of album is a genuine reminder that unusual musical expression can find unique niches and angles outside the traditional, and still be music to someone’s ears.”
- All Access Magazine
In contrast to the apocalyptic imagery of the first record, Plastique adopts the Jean Beaudrillard idea that “when the spectacle took over, man ceased to be man”. Sole bounces from the ironic to the iconoclastic, from the worldly to the deeply personal, and backed by a more sparse and deliberate delivery from Skyrider, showcasing the talents of all 3 musicians: Bud Berning (producer), John Wagner (drums), and William Ryan Fritch (multi-instrumentalist).
“Known for putting out hip hop albums running in the darker, artistic abstract vein, Sole’s direction with The Skyrider Band is expanding music and renewing my faith in great artists.”
- Rocksellout
Sole has spent the last two years living in a cabin in the midst of the Coconino National Forest in Arizona with no mayor and no phone lines, just books and environmental canyon sprawl. This return to analog life inspired an album’s worth of interpersonal discovery and anti-ideology.
“Passionate and dense, Sole’s brand of agit-hop underground casts political and social signifiers in personal upheaval, reiterating a simple concept across full albums: Life’s tough, and the world’s not any easier.”
- Pitchfork

The Dojo Workhorse Releases: Weapons Grade Romantic

Out yesterday via LOAD Music, Weapons Grade Romantic is the new release from The Dojo Workhorse – the solo moniker of Dan Vacon and the emotional counterpoint to his main group – The Dudes.
Since the early rough demos, the regional and online response for Dojo has been overwhelming, prompting Vacon to perform the material live as a solo act. Home-made CDRs were flying off of local consignment shelves and word spread through the Calgary music community building the band into a local super-group of sorts, featuring eclectic instrumentation from lapsteel to cello.
Unable to ignore the public appeal, Vacon was convinced to record a proper full-length album pulling from the “best of” his demoed material with Juno Award winning producer Russell Broom (Sam Roberts, Chixdiggit, Jann Arden). Broom’s mission statement was to maintain the haphazard charm of the early home recordings, while adding a more universally accessible sheen. To the surprise and delight of everyone, Weapons Grade Romantic blossomed into something far more affecting than just a “Dudes side project”.
String sections, horns, and some of Vacon’s favourite Canadian musicians fill out the sound of this unique album; its balance of rough edgy heart, with the palatable sounds of blue-eyed soul and acoustic pop is undeniable. It feels like a blue-eyed Sam Cooke fronting a gloriously sloppy version of The Band set to a precious low-fi backing track.
If the overwhelming preliminary industry response for The Dojo Workhorse is any indication, 2009 may well be the breakout year for Dan Vacon.

IN FLAMES is one of the most influential bands in modern metal and a band that keeps growing in popularity and size all the time. The latest album “A Sense Of Purpose” which hit the stores in April 2008, stormed the charts all over the world and keeps going strong. Featuring songs like “The Mirror’s Truth”, “Alias” and “Delight And Angers”. Once again it is time to conquer Europe with the biggest headline dates ever for the band on their home turf!
Killswitch Engage’s latest album, simply titled Killswitch Engage, debuted at #7 on the Billboard Top 200 chart earlier this summer, the same week that their previous album As Daylight Dies achieved Gold certification. Just coming off a highly successful Canadian co-headline run with In Flames, the band will be shooting a video for the song “Take Me Away” in the coming weeks.
John Reese (co-founder) states, “We have succeeded in a six year plan to establish a worldwide rock festival that has played to millions of fans and this year’s lineup is one of the strongest ever.” In Flames and Killswitch are two of my favorite bands”
Mike Kelso Director of Marketing for Rockstar Energy Drink states, “The Rockstar Taste of Chaos has been our marquee musical presentation the world over. You can expect a lot of great surprises on the tour.”
“We are really happy and looking forward to be part of this great tour. With the awesome line up this year, this tour is going to crush! See you all on the road”
– In Flames
“Greetings! Adam D from Killswitch here...just wanted to drop a line on how stoked I am to be going out on the Rockstar Taste of Chaos tour in Europe with our good buddies IN FLAMES real soon. They're one of my favorite bands, so there's a good chance you'll see me lurking and power drinking in the corner of the club every night while they're on stage. So if ya see me, do me a favor and buy me a beer. To show my gratitude, I'll flex for you. We'll be sure to play you guys some new songs as well...SO PLEASE COME CHECK OUT THE SHOW!!! Laters!”

ROCKSTAR Energy Drink will continue to be the title sponsor of the 2009 tour and will be sampling their products, as well as coming up with some great surprises for attendees. Ernie Ball will be a sponsor on the tour as well.
Having already spawned multiple soundtrack CD’s and a live DVD, Rockstar Taste Of Chaos, like its summer sibling the Van’s Warped Tour, it’s only getting bigger and better, offering fans the opportunity to see their favorite bands as well as take part in a number of activities including attending autograph signing sessions and a slew of interactive fan activities that will add to the experience.

Here’s what critics had to say about the Rockstar Taste Of Chaos Tour:
"Rockstar Taste of Chaos has become the must-see package tour during cold-weather months..."
- Cleveland Plain Dealer
“The definitive hard music tour of the spring time is here in all of its hard-rockin' glory..."
- Skinnie Magazine
"...Some captivating Chaos..."
- Orange County Register

"Six hours of cutting-edge metal that is on the extreme end of the energy scale."
- Toledo Blade
"For the past 4 years, Rockstar Taste of Chaos has been delivering some of the best known acts in the rock 'n roll world..."

"The (Rockstar) Taste of Chaos tour is a mammoth hard-rock and metal musical offering, where established and new bands throw caution to the wind, shredding vocal cords, while brave audiences risk their hearing with glee."
-The Detroit News

"Like its summer sibling Vans Warped Tour, (Rockstar) Taste of Chaos is getting bigger and louder..."
- San Antonio Current

"A $30 dollar ticket bought six hours of music from nine different bands--not too shabby for metal fans."
- The Times Record (Brunswick, ME)
